AEW Collision results (5/6): Powell’s review of the Young Bucks and Bang Bang Gang vs. The Dogs and Death Riders, Mike Bailey vs. AR Fox, Jamie Hayter vs. Skye Blue

By Jason Powell, ProWrestling.net Editor (@prowrestlingnet)

AEW Collision (Episode 143)
North Charleston, South Carolina, at North Charleston Coliseum
Simulcast May 6, 2026, on TBS and HBO Max

The screen went black for a second to signify the end of Dynamite and the start of Collision. Excalibur, Taz, and Tony Schiavone were on commentary…

Sting helped Darby Allin and Kevin Knight to their feet following their AEW World Championship match that closed Dynamite. Sting raised Allin’s hand, then raised Knight’s. Allin and Knight shook hands.

MJF’s entrance theme played, and he walked onto the stage when Allin was alone in the ring. MJF said nobody wants to see Darby as the AEW World Champion. MJF called for his AEW World Championship rematch.

Darby said no and recalled telling MJF that if he wanted a rematch, he had to put something on the line. MJF offered to put his scarf on the line. Allin declined. MJF offered to put his Dynamite Diamond Ring on the line. Allin said no. MJF offered money, but Allin passed. MJF asked what Darby wanted.

“I want something you hold most dear in this life, something you’re so desperate to keep that you’re willing to fly 15 hours to Turkey to get it sewed onto your skull,” Allin said. “I’m talking about your hair.” MJF yelled for Allin to be reasonable. Allin said the contract signing for a championship vs. hair match would be next week. He said that if MJF failed to show up, he’d never get a championship match. Darby asked for MJF’s answer. MJF dropped the mic and headed backstage.

AEW International Champion Kazuchika Okada made his entrance and headed to the ring. Okada said he wanted to face Darby for the AEW World Championship next week on Dynamite. Darby took the microphone away before Okada could close with the word bitch. “It’s on, bitch,” Allin said before leaving the ring…

Powell’s POV: Hottest Collision opening ever? Okay, I have a lousy memory, and I’m probably forgetting something, but I know Collision has never opened with the AEW World Champion, the TNT Champion, the legendary Sting, and the AEW International Champion. I wish they could have dedicated more time to setting up the Darby vs. Okada match, but I get that Allin is defending the championship weekly. Ideally, they would have been able to wait to set the table for MJF’s rematch until after the Darby vs. Okada match. The title vs. hair stipulation likely means MJF will regain the championship, as it’s hard to imagine him giving up the hair he, well, had sewn onto his skull, as Darby putit. All of that said, I am looking forward to both matches.

Backstage, Renee Paquette spoke with Dr. Michael Sampson and Will Ospreay. Paquette questioned whether Ospreay was medically cleared. Sampson said Ospreay went to Japan against his advice, but he didn’t do any further damage. Sampson said that whatever training Ospreay has been doing is working. He said Ospreay would have an MRI this week, and he’ll clear him if the results are favorable.

Paquette asked Ospreay about his relationship with The Death Riders. Ospreay said he appreciates them letting him in on their training, but he’s not and never will be a Death Rider. He said he knows there are things he doesn’t want to do that he has to do to get to where he wants to be…

Powell’s POV: The lesson here, kids, is that if major neck surgery doesn’t solve your problems, then seek out Marina Shafir and have her work her magic with a towel. Putting that aside, I like that Ospreay clarified that he’s not joining the Death Riders.

1. Mike Bailey vs. AR Fox. Schiavone raved over Fox’s improved physique. Bailey was in offensive control heading into an early picture-in-picture break. [C] Excalibur hyped AEW Women’s Tag Team Champions Megan Bayne and Lena Kross being in action on Saturday’s Fairway to Hell edition of Collision, along with the previously advertised Jack Perry vs. Mark Davis match for the AEW National Championship.

Late in the match, Bailey and Fox avoided big moves. Bailey was on the middle rope when he stuffed a Fox move by hanging on to the ropes. Bailey hit Fox with the Ultima Weapon before pinning him…

Mike Bailey beat AR Fox in 7:35.

Powell’s POV: I expected an AEW Special with the match going long despite the outcome feeling obvious, but they kept it brief by AEW standards.

Footage aired from “earlier today” of TBS Champion Willow Nightingale delivering a promo on the backstage interview set. She said it was an honor to hold the TBS Title on today of all days (due to the death of Ted Turner). She told her potential challengers to step up, because she intends to defend the legacy every single week… [C]

A video aired with Pac speaking while other Death Riders stood behind him in a training area. Pac said he holds a 2-1 advantage over Darby Allin in singles matches. Pac asked for a shot at the AEW World Championship. Pac promised that he is one mountain that Allin will never truly conquer. Pac said Allin could show how big his balls are by proving him wrong…

Jamie Hayter made her entrance. Renee Paquette spoke at ringside before Skye Blue’s entrance followed…

2. Jamie Hayter vs. Skye Blue. The broadcast team noted that Alex Windsor is sidelined, so Hayter was working singles matches for now. Darby Allin vs. Pac was announced for Saturday’s Fairway to Hell edition of Collision. Hayter was fairly dominant to start, but Blue ran her into the ringside barricade before a PIP break. [C]

Hayter hit a missile dropkick coming out of the break. She followed up moments later with a spinebuster. A short time later, Blue connected with a knee strike and went for Code Blue, but Hayter sat on her and got a two count.

Hayter stood on the middle rope and pulled Blue up in a sleeper. Blue fought free, and both women traded strikes while on the ropes. Hayter hit Hayterade while they were both on the ropes and then got the three count.

Jamie Hayter beat Skye Blue in roughly 10:00.

AEW Women’s Champion Thekla and Julia Hart were shown standing just off the main floor. Thekla applauded. Hayter bowed and then did something to Blue that the production team missed while showing Thekla and Hart…

Powell’s POV: A nice television match. I don’t know if they could have picked a worse place to have Thekla and Hart stand. There was one fan in the camera shot who wore a Bloodline t-shirt, and there were several empty seats behind him. Ouch.

Footage aired from “earlier tonight” of Don Callis delivering a promo while Kazuchika Okada, Mark Davis, Konosuke Takeshita, and Andrade El Idolo stood by. Callis hyped Davis challenging for the AEW National Championship on Saturday, and Okada challenging for the AEW World Championship on Wednesday.

Takeshita said Okada should be worried about having to defend his title against him at Double or Nothing. Callis said Takeshita is one of the best wrestlers in the world, but he was also starting to sound like Kenny Omega by saying he wants this and he wants that. Callis said Okada is his handpicked choice to go for the world title. “How do you know?” Andrade asked Callis before walking away. Callis looked into the camera and said he knows because he knows everything…

Powell’s POV: I believe that’s the closest Callis has come to picking sides between Okada and Takeshita.

3. Rush vs. Manny Lo. Lo’s entrance was not televised. Lo extended his hand for a handshake, but Rush attacked him instead. Rush hit the Bull’s Horns finisher for the quick win.

Rush defeated Manny Lo in 0:50.

After the match, Rush said what Rush always says about messing with the bull and getting the horns…

Powell’s POV: Lo clearly would have won the match had Rush accepted his handshake offer. He should demand a rematch.

A video aired with Luchasaurus driving Jack Perry in the Jurassic Express bus. Perry said when he was a boy, someone told him it’s not about the size of the dog in the fight; it’s about the size of the fight in the dog. Allin exited the bus and then climbed rocks until he reached the top of a hill. He said there was only room for him or Mark Davis at the top of the mountain. “And if you don’t like that, f— you,” Perry said. An onscreen graphic read “Jack Perry’s National Tour Continues”…

Powell’s POV: I wonder if Darby Allin patted Perry on the head and messed up his hair after watching the rock climbing footage.

The Death Riders and the Dogs made their entrance for the main event… [C] The Young Bucks and Bang Bang Gang made their entrance coming out of the break. The teams fought at ringside before the opening bell…

4. Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson, Austin Gunn, Colten Gunn, and Ace Austin vs. David Finlay, Clark Connors, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, and Daniel Garcia in a ten-man tag match. Jon Moxley sat in on commentary. Finlay picked up Colten and dropped him on the top rope, and then Connors shoulder blocked Colten. The Death Riders trio put the boots to Colten on the floor before a PIP break. [C]
