[Hour One] The ECW theme song played while a combination of ECW and NXT wrestlers were shown as part of the opening montage. There was a special “NXT 2300” logo… Vic Joseph and Booker T were on commentary…
Footage aired of Trick Williams and Bubba Ray Dudley hanging out at an outdoor restaurant. Je’Von Evans was shown checking out the Liberty Bell earlier in the day. The heel and babyface teams for the ten-woman tag team match were shown separately…
Ring announcer Mike Rome announced the opener as being a hardcore match. Rome introduced Dawn Marie, who was already inside the ring wearing a referee shirt. Lola Vice and Jaida Parker made their entrances…
1. Jaida Parker vs. Lola Vice in a hardcore match with Dawn Marie as special referee. Parker played to the crowd and then turned and shoulder blocked Vice into a corner of the ring. Parker went to ringside and grabbed a chair while Dawn called for the opening bell. Vice ducked the chair and then punched it into the face of Parker.
Vice pulled a chair out from underneath the ring, but Parker slammed a chair over her back. Vice wound up slamming Parker’s face on the chair once it was leaning against the ropes. A shot aired of Wes Lee warming up in the backstage area.
Parker tossed Vice back inside the ring and then slid several chairs in behind her. When Parker returned to the ring, Vice tripped her and caused her to fall on top of a chair that was set up. Vice suplexed Parker onto a chair and then followed up with another. Vice put Parker down with a DDT and got a two count. Both wrestlers ended up at ringside and threw simultaneous clotheslines heading into a break. [C]
Vice set up a tall ladder in one corner of the ring while Parker draped another in over the middle rope in the opposite corner. Parker put Vice down with a spinebuster and then pulled another ladder inside the ring. Je’Von Evans was shown applying his wrist tape in a backstage area.
Parker placed Vice on top of the ladder that was draped over the middle rope. Parker climbed a small ladder and then performed a Tear Drop (ass splash) that broke the ladder and led to a near fall. A censored “holy shit” chant broke out.
Vice caught Parker in a sleeper hold. Parker rolled under the ropes to the floor with Vice maintaining the hold. Parker backed into the ring steps to break the hold. Back inside the ring, Vice placed a trashcan over Parker’s head and then threw kicks at it. Vice put Parker down in a corner of the ring in front of a trashcan and then placed another one over her head. Vice ran her ass into the trashcan over Parker’s head.
Both women went back to ringside where Parker threw a trashcan at Vice and then hit her with a kendo stick several times. In the ring, Vice battered Parker with a kendo stick. Parker slammed a trashcan lid over Vice’s back and then picked her up and side slammed her onto a chair that was set up. Parker hit a running strike on Vice, which drove her into a ladder. Parker covered Vice for a two count.
Vice put Parker in a sleeper hold. Parker grabbed a small brick that was on the mat and slammed it over the head of Vice to break the hold. Another censored “Holy Shit” chant broke out. Parker covered Vice for a two count. “Where the hell did the brick come from?” Joseph asked. Parker ran the ropes and then drilled Vice with an elbow strike before pinning her…
Jaida Parker defeated Lola Vice in 14:45 in a hardcore match with Dawn Marie as special referee.
Powell’s POV: Strong effort from both wrestlers. It was nice to get a clean finish to conclude the lengthy hardcore match. It was great to see Dawn Marie again. She played it straight by working as an unbiased referee.
Ethan Page and Ridge Holland stood in front of the Rocky Balboa statue and delivered a promo. Page said they were going to take the fight to Trick Williams and Bubba Ray Dudley and ruin the night of nostalgia. Holland spoke about how he needs to be the NXT Champion. Page said there wouldn’t be any fairytale endings and no tables…
Kelani Jordan was shown doing the splits while doing yoga on some production crates in the backstage area. Rob Van Dam said he was impressed by her balance. He noted that she would be in the tag team match later, and would get a rematch for the NXT Women’s North American Championship on next week’s show. RVD told her to stand out by beating Fallon Henley. Jordan pointed RVD in the direction of Ava’s office and then went on her way. The camera was knocked over during some commotion. When the cameraman regrouped, Wes Lee was standing over the fallen RVD…
Je’Von Evans made his entrance… [C]
An ad aired for the NXT Deadline (technically Deadl1ne) premium live event for December 7 in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the Minneapolis Armory…
Powell’s POV: Smackdown will be in Minneapolis at Target Center the night before. I like the idea of going with a smaller venue for the NXT show.
Footage aired from earlier in the day of Tony D’Angelo, Channing Lorenzo, Luca Crusifino, and Adriana Rizzo walking by Tony & Nick’s and encountering Shawn Spears and Brooks Jensen. Nunzio and Tony Mamaluke showed up. Nunzio asked D’Angelo if his phone was broken because he never called him back. D’Angelo said he didn’t mean any disrespect.
Mamaluke said he made a call to Ava and got Rizzo a match against Nikkita Lyons for next week. Nunzio spoke about a tax and then informed D’Angelo that he would defend the NXT North American Title against him later in the night…
Wes Lee made his entrance…
2. Wes Lee vs. Je’Von Evans. Evans got an early two count on a rollup. There was a clunky head-scissors takedown, and then Evans cleared Lee from the ring with a kick. Bubba Ray Dudley and Trick Williams were shown warming up when Bubba noticed RVD being helped as he walked by. Both wrestlers fought to ringside where Lee gave Evans a brainbuster on the bottom part of the ring steps. [C]
Evans performed a huracanrana from the rope and then clutched his neck. Evans followed up with a spinning kick and got a two count. Lee came back with some kicks. Lee performed a Poison Rana and then hit an Cardiac Kick for a near fall.
Lee grabbed a chair, but the referee took it away from him. Evans rolled up Lee for a two count. Lee got up and kicked Evans, who then hit him with a cutter. Evans went up top, jumped off, and hit another cutter on the way down. Lee rolled to the floor to avoid being pinned. Evans went for a dive, but Lee avoided it and sent him onto and then over the broadcast table. Lee grabbed a chair.
Rob Van Dam’s entrance music played and he came out dressed in his gear. Lee went to ringside and swung a chair at Van Dam, who avoided it. Evans dove onto Lee and then tossed him back in the ring. Evans went up top and hit a cutter on the way down. Evans went to the ropes again. Lee rolled away. Evans still hit him with a long distance frog splash and scored the pin.
Je’Von Evans defeated Wes Lee in 12:20.
After the match, RVD rolled Lee out of the ring and posed with Evans…
Powell’s POV: A fun match and a nice win for Evans. I’m not sure if WWE doesn’t want RVD to avoid physicality or if it’s something they are saving for later in the show.
NXT general manager Ava was shown walking backstage with Robert Stone and Stevie Turner. Eddy Thorpe showed up and asked Ava if they could talk. Ava said she had to go. Thorpe said that was twice now. Ava said she knew and they would talk eventually, but not right now… [C]
Powell’s POV: Please tell me that Thorpe is going to turn heel and ditch his weak DJ gimmick.
Ava stood in the ring with Stone and Turner. Ava put over the Philly crowd. She announced the NXT Deadline show. The fans booed when she said the show would be held in Minneapolis. Ava said the show would feature the return of the Iron Survivor Challenge matches.
Stone said Ava lied to the people because everyone knows the New York fans are more hardcore. They had to censor shots when fans started flipping off Stone. Stone said Boston fans are also more hardcore than Philly fans. Stone said that just like the Phillies and Eagles, the time has passed for Philly fans.
The lights went out for a moment. Rhino was in the ring once the lights turned on again and then he gored Stone for a big pop and “ECW” chants…
Powell’s POV: Solid cheap heat mic work from Stone followed by the crowd pleasing Gore from Rhino. Or is it Rhyno because it’s a WWE show? Anyway, this was simple and effective. I suspect the Deadline ad that I mentioned earlier was a local ad here in the Minnesota area.
Jordynne Grace, Kelani Jordan, Zaria, Stephanie Vaquer, and Giulia spoke in their locker room. Vaquer spoke in Spanish and left everyone confused until Jordan translated. Grace said they would create their own history in a place that has so much history.
Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson showed up. Jackson said she and Legend were so close to winning the WWE Women’s Tag Team Tiles. Jackson said the five wrestlers might be the Dream Team, but her money is on the champions on the other side…
Ethan Page and Ridge Holland made their entrance… [C] Trick Williams and Bubba Ray Dudley made separate entrances coming out of the break.
[Hour Two] Bubba came out to the Dudley Boyz’ entrance theme and wore camouflage gear with his Hanson Brothers glasses. Joseph said it was Bubba’s first WWE match in eight years. Bubba stopped at ringside and put a pair of his glasses on Booker…
3. Trick Williams and Bubba Ray Dudley vs. Ethan Page and Ridge Holland. Williams and Holland started the match. Holland took a cheap shot at Bubba, who tagged in. Trick and Bubba cleared the heels from the ring heading into a break. [C]
The heel duo isolated Bubba coming out of the break. Bubba speared Page and made the tag to Williams, who threw side kicks that showed a lot of light at both opponents. Williams put Holland down with a uranage slam and had him beat, but Page broke it up.
Page set up Williams for the Ego’s Edge, but Bubba stopped it and hit both heels. Page dropped Bubba with a kick. Williams put Page down with a neckbreaker and then put Holland down with a kick. Williams set up for a leaping kick, but Holland sidestepped it and then rolled up Williams and pinned him.
Ethan Page and Ridge Holland defeated Trick Williams and Bubba Ray Dudley in 10:20.
After the match, Bubba stopped the heels from putting the boots to Williams. Bubba slammed Page and then held his legs open. Williams went up top and they did the Whassup headbutt spot. Bubba looked into a camera and smiled while nodding.
Bubba shoved Trick and then counted to three and the fans yelled, “Get the tables.” Williams looked for a table, but there wasn’t one under the ring. Joseph recalled Page saying there would be no tables.
The Dudley Boyz theme played again and this time D-Von Dudley came out with a table that he and Williams slid inside the ring. Trick and Bubba set up the table and then double chokeslammed Page through it. D-Von entered the ring and celebrated with Trick and Bubba. D-Von put a pair of his white shades on Williams and then they all raised their arms…
Powell’s POV: I don’t know that Holland really gained anything from winning the way he did, but it beats having his team lose and it was definitely a surprise to see him go over. I’ve seen Bubba show up in TNA and ROH for what seemed like one-off appearances that turned out to be lengthy heel runs, so my guard was up for a potential turn on Williams. Rather, they went with the crowd pleasing nostalgia, complete with the D-Von appearance. The live crowd looks like it consists mostly of fans who were too young to be at ECW Arena back in the day, but they are still eating up all of the ECW nostalgia.
Dion Lennox stood behind Ashante “Thee” Adonis and mentioned a bunch of names he saw on his phone. Lennox said some of us are born lucky. Karmen Petrovic showed up and asked Adonis what happened two weeks ago. He said she was interested. Petrovic asked him who the girl was. Adonis mentioned that it was his girl.
Petrovic was going to blow him off. Adonis mentioned all the attitude she was showing and said that’s not his type. Adonis wished her a happy belated birthday and walked away. “He knew it was my birthday?” Petrovic asked. “Okay, then.” Petrovic walked away, seemingly being interested in Adonis again. Lennox gave her a look that said “really?” without actually saying it… [C]
Roxanne Perez, Cora Jade, Fallon Henley, Jacy Jayne, and Jazmyn Nyx delivered a backstage promo. Jade said they consist of current, former, and a future champion. Perez implied that they would stand tall after the main event…
Nunzio and Tony Mamaluke made their entrance followed by the D’Angelo Family…
4. Tony D’Angelo (w/Channing Lorenzo, Luca Crusifino, Adriana Rizzo) vs. Nunzio (w/Tony Mamaluke) for the NXT North American Championship. D’Angelo dominated early, but Nunzio caught him with a leg drop from the middle rope for a near fall.
Mamaluke wanted to pass Nunzio a pair of brass knuckles. Crusifino distracted the referee while Lorenzo handed a crowbar to D’Angelo. Before the referee turned around, D’Angelo tossed the crowbar to Nunzio. The referee scolded Nunzio, who tossed him the crowbar. Nunzio charged D’Angelo, who put him down with a spinebuster and then pinned him.
Tony D’Angelo defeated Nunzio in 2:20 to retain the NXT North American Championship.
After the match, D’Angelo offered a handshake. Nunzio hugged him instead. Mamaluke joined in on the hugs and then the two sides posed together…
Powell’s POV: Quick and painless nostalgia.
Shawn Spears and Brooks Jensen were shown watching on a backstage monitor. Spears was pleased by what he saw, which confused Jensen, who said D’Angelo is riding high. Spears said that’s exactly what he wanted. Spears asked Jensen if he was hungry, then told him that he was feeling Italian…
Footage aired from last week of Lexis King apologizing to William Regal for not using the brass knuckles he tried to give him. Regal said he was impressed with him for not taking the easy way out. Regal said King is clearly not his father’s son and then shook his hand.
Charlie Dempsey showed up with Myles Borne, Tavion Heights, and Wren Sinclair after King walked away. “Nice try, old man,” Dempsey said. Regal said King didn’t have it. Regal asked Dempsey if he’s his father’s son. Dempsey said only time will tell. Regal recalled telling him he’d be watching him months ago. Regal said the tag team division is wide open and told Borne and Heights to think about that. Regal said it’s not just Dempsey’s group and told the others to think about that. “He’s so fatherly,” Sinclair said after Regal made his exit…
Joseph hyped the main event… [C]
A Nikkita Lyons video aired. She admitted to taking out Adriana Rizzo. Lyons said Oba Femi needed a favor and she took him up on it. Lyons said she’s been on the other side of these attacks. She said she is now the aggressor and the attacker. Lyons said she wouldn’t wait her turn. She said she is taking success for herself. Lyons said it starts next week with Rizzo…
Stevie Turner carried Roberts Stone over her shoulders. Ava instructed her to take Stone to the EMT. NXT Tag Team Champions Nathan Frazer and Axiom showed up. Ava said she would be addressing all of the tag teams next week. Axiom asked if they need to be there. She said she would let them know who their next challengers are. Frazer was happy because it sounded like they had the week off…
Joseph listed the following matches for next week’s show: Fallon Henley vs. Kelani Jordan for the NXT Women’s North American Championship, Adriana Rizzo vs. Nikkita Lyons, and qualifying matches start for the men’s and women’s Iron Survivor Challenge matches…
Francine was shown in the crowd chanting “ECW” along with the fans…
Powell’s POV: It’s really nice to see Francine and Dawn Marie looking great after all these years. But is it even legal in the state of Pennsylvania for the two of them to both be at ECW Arena without rolling around on the ground together while Joey Styles screams “Catfight!!!”?
Entrances for the main event took place with the heel team coming out first. Giulia had the final entrance for her team. The two teams met in the middle of the ring… [C]
5. Jordynne Grace, Kelani Jordan, Zaria, Stephanie Vaquer, and Giulia vs. Roxanne Perez, Cora Jade, Fallon Henley, Jacy Jayne, and Jazmyn Nyx in a ten-woman tag match. A “women’s wrestling” chant broke out early on. After a few minutes of action, the wrestlers all met in the middle of the ring and then traded punches. The babyface team got the better of it and cleared the ring. Jordan went up top and executed a moonsault onto the heels on the floor heading into the final break. [C]
Grace hit a splash from the middle rope and Jade and got a two count. Zaria tagged in and joined Grace in performing a double powerbomb on Jade. Zaria made the cover, but Perez performed a top rope crossbody block on Grace, who fell onto the pin to break it up.
Perez dropkicked Zaria out of the ring. Giulia performed a spinning slam on Perez. Jayne executed a neckbreaker on Giulia. Vaquer hit a backbreaker on Jayne. Henley hit a facebuster on Vaquer. Jordan took out Henley. Nyx caught Jordan with an overhead kick. Grace put Nyx down. Jade kicked Grace and then everyone was down.
Lash Legend and Jarka Jackson walked to ringside. Giulia jumped from the apron and dropkicked Jackson. Vaquer hit a crossbody block on Legend. Perez hit a suicide dive on some of the babyfaces. Jade followed up with a Swanton onto the pile.
Perez threw Zaria back in the ring and followed. Zaria caught Perez on her back and swung her into Jade to knock her off the apron. Zaria accidentally speared Grace. Perez went for her finisher, but Zaria avoided it. Zaria hit an F5 on Perez and pinned her. Joseph noted that Zaria pinned the NXT Women’s Champion…
Jordynne Grace, Kelani Jordan, Zaria, Stephanie Vaquer, and Giulia defeated Roxanne Perez, Cora Jade, Fallon Henley, Jacy Jayne, and Jazmyn Nyx in 15:00 in a ten-woman tag match.
Powell’s POV: The show wrapped up moments after the pin, as they were clearly up against the clock. It was good to see the ten-woman tag match close the show. They could have gone with the men’s tag team match, but I like that they went with the only match that didn’t have some type of nostalgia involved. I also like that Zaria accidentally speared Grace before she pinned Perez. That sets up Zaria with a couple of interesting matches or at least a couple of rivals in the Iron Survivor Challenge. Vaquer also has a win over Perez, so they have some interesting directions they could go in creatively.
Overall, a fun show that leaned heavy on the ECW nostalgia while playing to a lively crowd. The NXT women’s division has so much talent it’s almost embarrassing. They have at least 15 stars who could be in the main roster right now. Just imagine with a year or two more of experience this crew on Raw and SDL. Just wow

The best part of the show was talentless midget Roxanne taking the pin from a grown adult woman.
