Ring of Honor has announced the signing of Rush to an exclusive contract. The news comes on the same day that MLW announced that Rush was pulled from an April 4 main event booking “due to the insistence of a third party promoter.”
Powell’s POV: Rush is exclusive to ROH in the United States, but he will continue to work for CMLL in Mexico. MLW CEO Court Bauer issued the following statement earlier on Rush being pulled from MLW: “This is a match and organization Rush wanted to be a part of but sometimes politics get in the way and that’s what this comes down to: politics.” It’s obviously a good signing for ROH and a loss for MLW. It’s odd that so many companies talked about open borders at one point in 2018, yet have been locking talent down in late 2018 and early 2019. Obviously, the announced launch of All Elite Wrestling has led to some changes, though in fairness ROH may have pushed for exclusivity with Rush either way..
