2. Braun Strowman beat Jey Uso (w/Jimmy Uso).
3. Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods (w/Big E) beat Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows to retain the WWE Tag Titles.
4. Finn Balor beat Chris Jericho.
5. Rusev (w/Lana) beat Titus O’Neil to retain the U.S. Title.
6. John Cena beat A.J. Styles.
7. Sasha Banks beat Charlotte (w/Dana Brooke) to retain the WWE Women’s Championship.
8. Sami Zayn beat Kevin Owens.
9. Roman Reigns beat Seth Rollins.
This event was amazing. The crowd was so into it, never heard anything like it.
Was my first time attending a live event so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the sore throat I have this morning is a small price to pay for that experience!
From when images starting appearing on the big screen over an hour before the event, right through to the end…the crowd was into it. Chants for everyone, playing along, and the cheer for Cena when he pinned Styles was deafening.
The reaction for Roman was interesting. When he appeared on the screen before the show the boos were loud, he got booed when he came out to face Seth, but then got more cheers throughout the match and a really positive reaction when he won. I booed everything he did, hence the sore throat today.
Seth got the mic towards the end of the match and told us he was going to pedigree the home town hero through the ring. I love Seth, but that comment was stupid. Just because Roman has some Pacific Island blood in him doesn’t mean he is a hometown hero to New Zealand. Seth got back in the ring and took a spear. Match over. Booooo.
Biggest pop of the night was definitely for Cena.
Most heat was probably for Jericho. He said we were all wannabe Australians and that New Zealand was stinky and Auckland was the anus. Was hilarious, and got the boos he was going for. He also stopped mid-match to tell us all to shut up and stop calling him a stupid idiot. Which, of course, made the chant louder.
Sheamus got some heat mid-match. We were telling him he looked stupid and he stopped to tell us he didn’t come all this way to be insulted by a bunch of kiwis. Funny stuff.
Crowd was fairly flat for the Rusev v Titus match. But into the rest.
Match of the night (in my opinion) was Jericho v Balor.
Big E made an appearance in the middle of New Day’s match. As soon as we heard “ohhhhhh Auckland!!” the crowd screamed. He was limping really badly.
Owens v Zayn live is intense. Owens is hilarious. He stopped to argue with a fan on the way down to the ring.
The whole thing was amazing. After being a fan for over 25 years…to see it live…unforgetable.
