Vivid’s Steve Hirsch made TMZ headlines by offering to pay $100,000 in exchange for Tammy Sytch’s WWE Hall of Fame ring if she agrees to shoot a 90-minute porn film. The TMZ.com stories notes that Sytch would be allowed to choose her partner and the location of the shoot.
Powell’s POV: Sytch is auctioning off the ring, and she blasted critics of the move by pointing out that another Hall of Famer sold his ring to help cover the costs of a divorce. It’s unfortunate to see any major Hall of Fame rings sold, but she’s far from the first person in the sports world to sell her ring. Meanwhile, Hirsch is looking for headlines and he got it, as I don’t think he’d haggle if Sytch said she would keep the ring and do the porn film for $100,000.
I disagree with Powell’s POV about HOF rings being sold… this is not unfortunate it is refreshing to find people who are not obsessed with keeping trinkets of their former glories. Harrison Ford didn’t keep any of the Memorabilia from his movies and the people who will be most thankful for having the opportunity to own those relics are the loyal fans and historians. Doesn’t Ric Flair seem like the biggest has-been when he wears his two HOF rings? 100 grand is a lot of money to pass up for a silly little cracker jack prize (especially when most former wrestlers have addictions and serious injuries to deal with).
