ROH parent company in talks with Tribune Media

Sinclair Broadcast Group, the parent company of Ring of Honor, is in talks with rival Tribune Media. Deadline.com speculates that the discussions could involve a potential merger or simply parts of Tribune such as Tribune’s CW stations, WGN America, or its 31 percent ownership stake in Food Network. Powell’s POV: CNBC.com covered the story and notes that a deal between the two sides would face regulatory curbs on how many households they are allowed to reach, but the hope is that new U.S. President Donald Trump intends to lift ownership caps. As much fun as it is to speculate that a potential deal could lead to ROH appearing on WGN America, it’s worth nothing that SBG purchased the Tennis Channel over a year ago. There was speculation that the network would be rebranded and could become a home for ROH, but so far no changes have been made.
