The NWA Title match for the Crockett Cup event was made in an angle at Saturday’s Ring of Honor television taping in Lakeland, Florida. NWA Champion Nick Aldis asked Marty Scurll to be his partner in the Crockett Cup tag team tournament, but Scurll challenged him to a title match instead. Aldis accepted the challenge and will defend the NWA Title against Scurll at the April 27 event in Concord, North Carolina at the Cabarrus Arena.
Powell’s POV: While it would have been cool to see Aldis and Scurll team in the tournament, it’s even better that the NWA Championship will be defended at the Crockett Cup. The NWA previously announced that teams from ROH, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and CMLL will be in the tournament.
