The following matches are advertised for Sunday’s New Japan Pro Wrestling Sakura Genesis event in Tokyo, Japan at Ryogoku Kokugikan.
-Kazuchika Okada vs. Zack Sabre Jr. for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship.
-Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi vs. Cody and Hangman Page.
-Will Ospreay vs. Marty Scurll for the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship.
-El Desperado and Yoshinobu Kanemaru vs. Roppongi 3k vs. Hiroumo Takahashi and Bushi in a three-way for the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Titles.
-Tetsuya Naito, Sanada, and Evil vs. Minoru Suzuki, Davey Boy Smith Jr. and Lance Archer.
-Hiroshi Tanahashi, David Finlay, and Juice Robinson vs. Jay White, Hirooki Goto, and Yoshi-Hashi.
-Michael Elgin, Togi Makabe, and Ryusuke Taguchi vs. Bad Luck Fale, Tama Tonga, and Tanga Loa.
-Tomohiro Ishii and Toru Yano vs. Takashi Iizuka and Taichi.
-The Young Bucks vs. Chase Owens and Yujiro Takahashi.
Powell’s POV: The three title matches should be very good, while the rest of the lineup is a bit underwhelming with the usual overabundance of tag team matches. I hope to have same day coverage of the event, which will be broadcast in English on New Japan World. I can’t make any promises this time around due to the show occurring on the Easter holiday. Friday’s Road to Sakura Genesis will also be broadcast in English and is headlined by Okada and Yoshi-Hashi vs. Sabre Jr. and Taichi.
