Rey Mysterio injured at independent event

By Jason Powell, Prowrestling.net Editor (@prowrestlingnet)

Rey Mysterio suffered an injury at the Northeast Wrestling event on Friday in Waterbury, Connecticut. Dave Meltzer of WrestlingObserver.com reports that Mysterio suffered a left biceps injury but was able to finish the tag team main event.

Powell’s POV: The timing could not be worse for Mysterio. Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com reports that Mysterio was actually scheduled to meet with Paul “Triple H” Levesque prior to the independent show with the goal of finalizing a WWE deal. However, Levesque ended up flying to Saudi Arabia to finalize a new live events deal. In other words, Mysterio is not believed to be under a WWE contract at this point and his injury could derail that along with his scheduled match with Jushin Liger at the New Japan Pro Wrestling show in Long Beach, California on March 25.
