-Happy Independence Day in the United States. The updates will be less frequent today due to the holiday, but things will get back to normal tonight with Smackdown coverage.

-WWE Smackdown Live is in Phoenix, Arizona at Talking Stick Resort Arena. The show includes the return of John Cena and a battle royal to determine the No. 1 contender to the U.S. Championship. Join me for live coverage as the show airs on USA Network at 7CT/8ET, and I will be by on Wednesday with my WWE Smackdown Hit List.

-Impact Wrestling is taping television again tonight in Orlando, Florida at Universal Studios.

-WWE’s 205 Live airs tonight on WWE Network at 9CT/10ET. We will not have live coverage. Rather, John Moore will have his review up on delay either later tonight or on Wednesday morning.

-The Talking Smack show airs on WWE Network at 9:45 CT/10:45 ET. John Moore will have his detailed review available on the main page on Wednesday morning.

-There are no dark main events advertised for tonight’s Smackdown event. The recent dark main events feature WWE Champion Jinder Mahal vs. Randy Orton, and U.S. Champion Kevin Owens vs. AJ Styles.

Birthdays and Notables

-Barry Windham is 57 today.

-Former WWE referee Joey Marella died at age 31 in a car accident on July 4, 1994.

-Adrian Adonis (Keith Franke) died at age 33 on July 4, 1988. He was a passenger in a van that was driven into a body of water in Canada when the driver swerved to avoid a moose. Independent wrestlers Mike Kelly (William Arko), Pat Kelly (Victor Arko), and Dave McKigney were also killed in the accident.
