Ross on Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks in the Iron Man match: “There was lots of pressure on Sasha and Charlotte to have some sort of history making match in the 30 Minute Ironman Match. I enjoyed the match but how the finish was executed was perplexing to me unless it is going to lead to a persona change for either woman. The live audience, arguably, harmed this match more than any on the card considering the stipulation and positioning on the card. I had no issue that this match did not close the show either.”

Powell’s POV: The match was good enough to be in the main event slot, but obviously the decision was made to go with the Shield powerbombs to close the night on something of a high note. As much as I would love to see a double turn, I don’t even know what Charlotte could do at this point after teasing the crowd that she was apologetic to her father only to pull the rug out from under them by hitting him.

Ross on the Cruiserweight Championship match at Roadblock: “First of all, I am a fan of Cruiserweight competition and I feel that this division, when WWE sorts out who they will eventually go with as this weight’s nucleus, will be good TV. However, the talents currently involved have not yet connected with enough of the audience to move the needle and therefore this is an area of which the fans need to have patience and hope that talents like Neville and others can contribute in a big way and capture the attention of the fan base. Plus, it’s hard to incorporate so many submission attempts in a match where talents aren’t emotionally invested to the audience.”

Powell’s POV: It’s encouraging that they are finally trying to put some heat on the heels. We went weeks with the trio of Ariya Daivari, Tony Nese, and Drew Gulak putting over the babyfaces while Brian Kendrick was the only successful heel. Suddenly, they are doing a little something with Daivari in his feud with Jack Gallagher, Noam Dar is doing a nice job as a heel, and Neville definitely made a splash at the pay-per-view. The babyfaces have not clicked yet and if they don’t soon, I can’t help but wonder whether Austin Aries will be introduced as a babyface once he’s healthy despite the fact that he’s a natural heel.

Ross on the Raw Tag Title match at Roadblock: “The WWE Tag Title bout was better than expected for me and it delivered significantly. Great way to start the show but unfortunately some of the bouts that followed did not live up to the opener. Nonetheless this was a hit.”

Powell’s POV: Hit?!? Gimmick infringement! Jokes aside, I was actually hoping they would keep the tag titles on New Day for a few weeks longer just so we could have had some real drama in their title defenses for the first time in months. It just became too obvious that they were going to break the record, so many fans just assumed they were going to retain their tag titles in those matches.
