WWE Live Event
Huntington, West Virginia
Report by Dot Net reader Mike Nelson
I arrived an hour before bell time and the merch table was very busy. Lots of merchandise available including championship belts at $425. Small crowd
1. Golden Truth beat Tyler Breeze and Fandango. Comedy match mostly. Atomic drops all over the place including Goldust taking one by accident from R-Truth. There was a pretty good Golden Truth chant towards the end of the match seemed to help get R-Truth fired up to make a tag to GoldDust and he came in and cleaned house. Truth won with a roll up.
2. Apollo Crews over Heath Slater (w/Bo Dallas ). Heath is from Pineville, West Virginia (two and a half hours from Huntington). Apollo got the early strength advantage. Heath ducked outside and gets clotheslined back over the top rope when trying to enter. Apollo delivered some great drop kicks and used the spinning power bomb for the 1-2-3.
3. Darren Young (w/Bob Backland) beat The Miz (w/Maryse) by DQ in an Intercontinetal Championship match. Jeez, Bob looks good for his age. Collar and elbow tied up, test of strength in which Miz backed Young into the corner and pushed him after a count of five. Mr. Backland chant almost got his attention. Miz worked on Young’s knee most of the match. Young with a nice comeback, he looks good in the ring. Young used a crossface chicken wing. Maryse got involved and caused a DQ.
4. Enzo Amore and Big Cass Beat The Dudley Boyz. Enzo & Cass performed their usual entrance, but Bubba and D-Von’s music cut Cass off before he could finish spelling out SWAFT. Enzo is a ball of energy. Cass is a giant! Two really great tag teams working this match! Typical Dudley double teaming Enzo throughout. Cass tagged in and cleaned house. Enzo off the top with the help from Cass for the victory. Bubba got in the face of the guy next to me and said, “I am a millionaire and not a loser like you from West Virginia.”
Intermission
5. Sasha Banks beat Summer Rae. Sasha dominated the beginning of the match, then Summer with some decent offense. Sasha with the comeback, Banks statement, tap out.
6. Rusev defeated Kalisto, Sami Zayn, Sheamus, and Cesaro in a Fatal 5-Way to retain the U.S. Championship. Standout between all five at the bell until Sheamus kicked Kalisto out of the ring. Then it was everyone for themselves. Sheamus with White Noise on Kalisto but Rusev broke it up. Cesaro performed an uppercut train, and Zayn with a Blue Thunderbomb on Kalisto for a two count. Casaro with a spin. All chaos until Rusev got Kalisto into Accolade for the tap out.
7. Kane and Big Show beat Bray Wyatt, Erick Rowan, and Braun Strowman. It started as a singles with Bray and Kane. Bray delivered a great promo followed by a beatdown of Kane. Big Show came out to team with Kane now against the Waytts. Typical big man slow match. Braun vs Show tied up and Braun shoved Show against the ropes, Show says DANG! They go again and Show shoved Braun down. Test of strength and Show overpowered Braun until a knee to the gut. Show slapped Braun’s chest after shhhhing the crowd. He tried it one too many times and Braun thumbs him in the eye and ran over him with a tackle. Strowman made a tag to Bray, who hit a DDT on show for a close two. Rowan tagged in and grounded Show for a while. The Wyatts tagged in and out until Bray tried a suplex until Show reverses it and tagged in Kane. Demon Kane attempted a choke slam on Rowan, who blocked it and whipped Kane into a slam. Bray attempted Sister Abigail on Kane, but Show knocked out Bray. Kane and Show double choke slammed to Rowan for the win.
Thanks for coming, goodnight, and Happy 4th of July from Byron Saxton.
