Suspended WWE broadcast team member Jerry Lawler spoke with WMC-TV in Memphis, Tennessee regarding his and fiancee Lauryn McBride’s arrests following a domestic violence incident at their home early Friday morning. Lawler disputed McBride’s claim that he pushed her against a stove and struck her head. “No, not at all,” Lawler said regarding that version of the story. Lawler blamed the incident on McBride being intoxicated. “We’ve only had issues when she drinks,” Lawler said. “Unfortunately, she had an issue last week.” Lawler claimed that McBride was intoxicated last week and “got into a fist fight with her aunt.” Listen to the call at WMCactionnews.com.
Powell’s POV: Lawler stated that he was at an independent wrestling event that was ironically dubbed “A Night in the Slammer” (all cage matches) before he returned home on Thursday evening. He said McBride watched a basketball game at a friend’s home and was intoxicated when she returned home. For those who missed the previous update, Lawler has been suspended indefinitely by WWE due to the company’s “zero policy” regarding domestic violence.
