NJPW Super J-Cup Night 1
Tacoma, Washington at Temple Theater
Report by Dot Net reader Lawrence Morgan
1. Jushin Thunder Liger and Karl Fredericks defeated Ren Narita and Shota Unimo. Liger and Fredericks won by submission when Narita tapped to a half crab from Fredericks.
2. Soberano Jr. defeated Rocky Romero in a first round tournament match. Soberano won by pinfall after a corkscrew plancha.
3. TJP defeated Clark Connors in a first round tournament match. TJP won via submission. The crowd was really into it as Connors is from the area and wrestled on the Seattle independent scene before joining the LA dojo.
4. Caristico defeated Bushi in a first round tournament match. Caristico won by pinfall after a Spanish Fly from the top rope.
5. Ryusuke Taguchi defeated Jonathan Gresham in a first round tournament match. Taguchi won after a few rollup attempts. The match started as comic relief but turned out to be really fun match
6. El Phantasmo defeated Robbie Eagles in a first round tournament match. Phantasmo won after a low blow. The tournament really is starting to pick up. After the match, I was the first of the unfortunate fans to have ELP grab their hat and throw it further into the crowd.
7. Dragon Lee defeated Yoh in a first round tournament match. Lee won after a blue thunder bomb
8. Sho defeated Taiji Ishimori in a first round tournament match. Sho picked up the win via pinfall
9. Will Ospreay defeated Amazing Red in a first round tournament match. Ospreay won after a Storm Breaker. There was a holy shit chant the second they both got in the ring. There aren’t words to describe this match. It’s up there and likely past any match you’ve seen from Ospreay this year.
