6/19 NXT UK TV results: Gleed’s summary of the battle royal for a shot at the NXT UK Women’s Championship, Mark Coffey and Wolfgang vs. The Hunt, Kassius Ohno vs. Kenny Williams

By Haydn Gleed, ProWrestling.net Staffer (@haydngleed)

The following are the results of the NXT UK television shows that aired Wednesday, June 19 on WWE Network.

Highlights were shown of last week’s main event and the reveal of Alexander Wolfe as the fourth member of Imperium… After the terrible music and opening video, we saw shots of the crowd at the Download Festival. Vic Joseph was on the call with Aiden English replacing Nigel McGuinness on color commentary. English speculated that McGuinness wasn’t at Download because he was watching Kenny G…

1. Kassius Ohno defeated Kenny Williams. A bit clunky at times and their styles clashed somewhat, but some exciting moments for the crowd who were hot down the stretch. A clean victory for Ohno after a spinning elbow to the back of the head. As Kassius was making his way up the ramp, Imperium’s music hit and he made a quick exit as all four men posed on top of the ramp. They made their way down to the ring as we went into a commercial.

Imperium members Walter, Alexander Wolfe, Fabian Aichner, and Marcel Barthel were in the ring. Marcel had the mic and got “What?” chants. He said people think they were there to entertain fans, but he assured them that they were not. He spoke of how sacred wrestling is to them, as they aim to bring back the honour of their sport. Fabian Aichner grabbed the microphone as the crowd chanted “we want wrestling.” Aichner said that as you saw last week, our numbers have increased. He said the unit is now complete as the crowd chanted “who are ya?!”. He told the crowd that they will respect their values.

Wolfe took the microphone and the crowd chanted Bruiserweight for Pete Dunne. He said when he saw the opportunity to join Imperium, he had no doubt at all. The crowd chanted Sanity (sigh). He said it felt right to join Imperium because this unit treats professional wrestling with respect. He said NXT UK is not a playground and they will protect the legacy of this sport. Finally, Walter took the microphone and said Travis Banks may have a championship opportunity, but things will be done the way that they want them to be done. He said the title match will be next week.

Travis Banks’s music hit and he came out onto the ramp with a microphone. The crowd instantly chanted “Kiwi Buzzsaw”. He said you want to do this next week? He’s fine with that cause he’s worked hard for this opportunity. He promised him that Walter will have to bring everything he’s got…

Highlights aired of The Hunt winning two weeks ago, followed by Mark Coffey and Wolfgang attacking them afterwards as they setup their match next…

Noam Dar was interviewed by a faceless interviewer. He was asked about his behavior, which Noam took offence too. Dar spotted Kenny Williams and said bad luck on the loss. He held his arm up and said come under my wing. Kenny told him to be careful or his wing would go the same way as your knee and be broken. Dar continued to condescend his friend by saying it’s time for Kenny to take his lead…

2. Mark Coffey and Wolfgang defeated “The Hunt” Wild Boar and Primate. After the match, “Gallus” members Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey, and Wolfgang beat down The Hunt until Dave Mastiff made the save…

Radzi interviewed “Moustache Mountain” Tyler Bate and Trent Seven backstage and announced to them that Johnny Saint had authorized a match between them and the champions “Grizzled Young Veterans” James Drake and Zack Gibson. They talked about how it was great news and they will get their hands on the belts…

3. Kay Lee Ray won a battle royal to earn an NXT UK Women’s Championship match. The other entrants were Xia Brookside, Jinny, Jazzy Gabert, Rhea Ripley, Candyfloss, Isla Dawn, Piper Niven, Killer Kelly, Kanji, Rhio, and Nina Samuels. Kay Lee Ray was thrown to the outside through the middle rope midway through the match but snuck back in late in the match to toss out Xia Brookside, who thought she had won. They teased Piper Niven and Rhea Ripley at one point, which the crowd was very receptive to…

Gleed’s Ramblings: I heard the sad news about Lionheart part way through covering this show. As such, it was hard to focus on the second half of the show, but it was definitely entertaining and newsworthy. My biggest concern going in to the Download tapings was that the crowd was going to be like they were at WWE Axxess (not there for the wrestling and as a result would be a quiet), but it couldn’t have been further from the truth. The main event was entertaining and although I’m sick of seeing the overdone “someone hides on the outside until the end” gimmick in battle royals, I’m willing to look past it to get us to Kay Lee Ray vs. Toni Storm. The other two matches were nothing to write home about but were okay with the Hunt and Dave Mastiff interacting with Gallus to presumably set up a six man match down the line. Overall, there is a lot going on again in NXT UK and it is definitely my favourite weekly pro wrestling show at the moment.
