Cody took part in the Starrcast conference call on Wednesday to promote the podcast convention that will be held in conjunction with the All In event over Labor Day weekend. Cody was asked about the possibility of holding a second Starrcast event.
“As far as what’s next, I really wish I could answer,” Cody said. “A lot has happened in the last few weeks, a lot of discussion about the future. One thing that’s special about this, and I have to be rather cagey in answering, one thing that’s special about this group is that we have verbally committed to each other. And I don’t know if that has ever happened in the history of wrestling where I verbally committed to the Bucks… Kenny Omega and Hangman Page.
“This is verbal commitments that the next step we take, because it’s no secret that our contracts are all up, what happens next? The next step we take we’re going to take together and we’re going to take it as a family. This could be the dumbest move ever, you know, wrestling is kind of a shady business or it could be what my gut tells me, the right call.”
Powell’s POV: Cody’s comments seem to suggest that the group intends to land in the same company (or companies) once their deals expire early next year. WWE is said to be very interested and obviously New Japan Pro Wrestling and Ring of Honor would love to continue to use them. Plus, who knows what other opportunities may present themselves. The full conference call is available on the main page. Starrcast is available for purchase via the FITE TV app.
