Memphis prosecutors have dropped assault charges that were filed against WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler and his fiancee Lauryn McBride. Lawler’s attorney stated after Friday’s court hearing that the incident was “a big misunderstanding and won’t happen again. We are happy with the outcome.” Read more at CommercialAppeal.com.
Powell’s POV: The couple was arrested last month following a domestic incident at the home they share. WWE suspended Lawler indefinitely following the incident, citing their zero tolerance policy relating to domestic violence. I reached out to WWE shortly before this story was written, but as of this update there is no word yet as to whether the company has lifted the suspension now that charges have been dropped.
Update: WWE lifted Lawler’s suspension on Friday afternoon.
