Countdown Show Results

Megan Morant and Sam Roberts checked in from the venue and introduced the show. The pre-show hosts ran through the advertised Stand and Deliver card. The panel sent the show to a hype package for the NXT Women’s Championship four way match…

The show cut to a sitdown interview between Sarah Schreiber and Jordynne Grace. Grace talked about how wrestlers always thought of themselves as “born” to be a wrestler, but she never thought that. Picture of a younger and more heavyset Jordynne Grace were shown (this was around the same time she started in TNA and even All in). Grace talked about being called in to do extra work for WWE, but the producer hid her in the background to where she was barely seen on TV.

Grace said that moment caused her to give up on joining WWE. Highlights of Grace’s TNA run were shown where she talked about trying to transform into a Juggernaut. Grace talked about becoming a multi-time champion and the face of a women’s division. She said she could have stayed to be the greatest Knockout of all time, or take a risk. Grace said she came back to WWE to show that they can’t hide her from the camera ever again.

Sarah asked Grace for her thoughts on taking over the Women’s division down the road. Grace said she hasn’t looked that far and has to get through 3 talented women at Stand and Deliver first. Grace talked about how the NXT Women’s Division doesn’t get weaker, it just reloads. Grace said she wasn’t supposed to be in WWE, but she’s here doing it. Sarah wished Grace luck at Stand and Deliver…

A replay was shown of Stacks and Luca vs. DarkState in a parking lot brawl from this past week’s NXT. The show then cut to The Tony D’Angelo Family all psyching themselves up backstage. After Adriana and Luca left, Stacks apologized for going above Tony D this past tuesday. Tony D said it was fine and they are going to do this for the Family. Tony D and Stacks hugged…

Separate shots of NXT Champion Oba Femi, Trick Williams, and Je’von Evans were shown as they were arriving to the venue…

Je’von Evans and Vic Joseph dapped it up and went shopping at a vintage pro wrestling store. Vic and Je’von walked around admiring the t-shirts and action figures. Vic then transitioned to interview-mode. Vic talked about it taking Je’von one year from joining WWE to getting into the main event. Je’von said it’s been crazy up and downs and how he bounced over those ups and downs. Vic said what connected with him, was learing about Je’von’s family. Vic asked Je’von what her wrestling fan grandma would think about her son in the main event.

Je’von joked that his grandma would still cuss his ass out for being in a dangerous sport. Evans recapped his year, already competing for the NXT Championship and even getting out of the United States for the first time. Evans said when he first went for the title, he honestly wasn’t ready, but he has grown. Vic wondered if Evans would focus on beating Oba or Trick because he only has to pin one of them. Evans joked that he can’t reveal his plan. Vic asked Evans why he thinks he’s going to be the youngest NXT champion.

Evans said he earned this shot and now is time to go crazy. Je’von and Vic dapped it up one more time. Vic gifted Evans with a Lord Tensai keychain to end the segment (Lord Tensai/Prince Albert is the head trainer in NXT, Matt Bloom)…

John’s Thoughts: I do like the interview spots but these WWE pre-shows are still immensely inefficient. The interviews get less of an impact because I don’t think people are paying attention to these shows due to all the predictable kayfabe “predictions” and filler videos. These interviews would be better served spliced into the weekly tuesday show.

Instagram videos were shown as the women in the North American Championship ladder match were all getting ready for Stand and Deliver. A fan poll was shown where the fans picked Sol Ruca to win the Women’s North American Championship…

Blake Howard did a sitdown interview with Hank Walker and Tank Ledger. Howard asked Hank and Tank how they became best friends. Hank talked about how it was through the NIL program. Hank recapped starting as a security guard in NXT while Tank was the first official NIL signee to make TV. Blake asked them how they became a team. They talked about the fans going through their journey of connecting.

Blake asked Hank and Tank how they can go from the gauntlet match to facing one of the best tag teams in NXT. Hank pointed out how Axiom and Frazer always have moments where they show disconnect. Tank said they don’t have the jiggle in the middle. Tank said there is a lot of tingle in the loins and he and Hank aren’t running from that tingle…

John’s Thoughts: Tank always reminded me of Big E Langston in terms of the energy and speed in the ring, but he also has a similar promo delivery and quirky personality.

Megan Morant and Sam Roberts interviewed NXT GM Ava at the venue about Hank and Tank. Ava praised Hank and Tank for making it to this point and that they are ready to take it to the next level. Sam asked Ava for her thoughts on the Ricky Saints vs. Ethan Page match. Ava said as much as she dislikes Ethan, Ethan and Ricky are both strong additions to the NXT roster and this is going to be a great match.

Sam then talked about the women’s four way tag team match. Ava said Stand and Deliver has 18 women on the show and this is the first time the women outnumber the men on a NXT show. Ava said they are going to show why NXT has the best women’s division in the world…

A hype package aired for the Triple Threat NXT Championship match. Vic Joseph, Booker T, and Corey Graves checked in from the commentary table to call the pre show match…

The Meta Girls made their entrance first, wearing showgirl outfits with peacock feathering. Fatal Influence were out next. Gigi Dolin, Tatum Paxley, and Shotzi Blackheart made their entrance. Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez made their entrance with 15 minutes left in the pre-show…

1. Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson vs. Jacy Jayne and Fallon Henley (w/Jazmyn Nyx) vs. Gigi Dolin and Tatum Paxley (w/Shotzi Blackheart) vs. Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez in an elimination match for a shot at the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. The other teams were apprehensive to face Lash Legend. Perez went up to Lash first and was lifted in the air. Lash used her size to block a Sunset Flip. Perez gave Lash a slap to the face. Lash came back with an overhead chop. Perez hit Lash with La Mistica into a huracanrana.

Lash hit Perez with a nice looking spinning uppercut. Gigi tagged out Perez. Lash hit Gigi with a elbow drop and tagged in Jakara. Jakara hit Gigi with a dropkick for a nearfall. Cora tagged out Gigi and rolled up Jakara for a two count. Jade hit Jakara with a knee lift and diving elbow for a nearfall. Lash and Tatum were in the ring. Lash rammed Tatum into Gigi. Lash blocked a huracanrana and tagged in Jakara.

Jakara hit Tatum with an assisted Power Bomb for a nearfall. All the teams entered the ring to jaw with each other. A “let them fight” chant ensued, and the fans got what they want. Lash tossed Perz into the steps. Jayne hit Lash with a cannonball. Tatum hit Jacy and Lash with a corkscrew moonsault. Henley hit the pile with a crossbody. Gigi hit the pile with a Whisper of the Wind. Cora hit the pile with a Swanton. Jakara hit the pile with a rope assisted Tope Con Hilo.

Nyx dragged Jakara to ringside. Jacy hit Lash with a huracanrana. Henley hit Lash with an assisted bulldog. Lash kicked out of the double pin. Gigi got a two count on Lash after a dropkick. Paxley hit Lash with a splits elbow drop for a nearfall. Jade hit Jakara with Dirty Deeds at ringside. Perez hit Lash with a surprise Pop Rocks for the elimination.

Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade eliminated The Meta Girls via pinfall in 7:30

Jayne rolled up Perez for a two count. Cora and Perez used quick tags for tandem offense on Jayne. There were six minutes at the top of the hour. Jayne got a window of opportunity after hitting Jade with a neckbreaker. Perez decided to backtrack to the back. Gigi and Tatum used a double pin to eliminate Cora Jade

Tatum Paxley and Gigi Dolin eliminated Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez via pinfall in 9:20 of total match time.

Tatum and Gigi put Henley in the provocative “Freaky Position”. Vic joked that it looked like Sabrina Carpenter’s Threesome pose. Booker went “what the hell?”. Jacy broke the sexy move up. Henley hit Gigi with a move. Tatum ran off Henley’s back to hit Jacy with a nice looking jump kick. Henley rolled Gigi on Jacy for a two count. Graves said Shotzi is a terrible friend for allowing Nyx to interfere and not help her tag partners. Gigi and Tatum hit Henley with the Cemetary Drive for the victory.

Gigi Dolin and Tatum Paxley defeated Fatal Influence via pinfall in 12:51 of total match time to become number one contenders to the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships.

Separate shots of Ricky Saints and Ethan Page were shown heading to the ring to close the pre-show…

John’s Thoughts: They had the time crunch, but the women did a great job spacing out the eliminations in that time limitation, which I was afraid they weren’t given the elimination stipulation. A good showing from the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Division (as these teams have also been presented on TNA weekly as their tag division due to NXT not having their tag titles at the moment). I’m surprised that Lash and Jakara didn’t win here, but maybe that just means that they are due for their long pushed out callup. They did make Lash look strong as usual with it taking all the women to beat her. I do wonder if the purpose of having Perez stay yet another week in NXT is to call up Cora Jade with her and this angle was here to initiate that?

Main Show Results

A intro teaser aired to introduce the show…

Vic Joseph, Booker T, and Corey Graves were on commentary. Mike Rome was the ring announcer…

Ricky Saints made his entrance. They also aired a sponsored decibel meter to measure the crowd pop for a few seconds. All Ego Ethan Page made his entrance…

1. Ricky Saints vs. “All Ego” Ethan Page for the NXT North American Championship. Ricky and Ethan tumbled to ringside with Ricky getting the upper hand with strikes. Ricky rallied in the ring with strikes and holds. Ricky hit Page with a front kick and Enzuigiri. Ricky hit Page with his signature catwalk Old School. Saints did his pose after a clothesline. Page staggered him on the top rope and planted him on the apron with a Dominator. Page gave Saints ground and pound after a big boot.

Page worked on Saints with methodical offense and pin attempts. Saints got a moment of respite after a swinging backbreaker on Page. Saints rallied with right hands to pressure Page against the barricade. Page guided Saints out of the air to send Saints crashing and burning into the announce table. The commentators sold this move as injuring Saints. Page used kicks to the lower back to put Saints into the Boston Crab, which Page dug in. Saints struggled, but made it to the bottom rope for the break.

Saints escaped an Ego’s Edge and gave Page fatigued forearms. Page dumped Saints to ringside with a backbreaker on the top rope. Saints got a 2nd wind and hit Page with a Tornado DDT to give himself a moment of respite. The crowd started to sing Ricky’s name, which is what they do these days after WWE left Europe. A “Tony Fumbled” chant ensued to talk about how Tony Khan messed up not pushing these guys properly.

Page recovered and powered up Saints into a Power Slam for a nearfall. A “this is awesome” chant ensued. I wondered if those chants were justified. Saints went to the top rope, but his lower back gave out on him. A “thank you Tony” chant ensued. Saints gave Page a power bomb for a nearfall.

John’s Thoughts: The fans are having their fun with Tony Khan tonight. The “Thank You Tony” chants also remind me of the “Thank You Nico [Harrison]” Chants me and Lakers fans are chanting after we got Luka.

Page caught Saints out of nowhere with a single leg Codebreaker. Page hit Saints with an Ego’s Edge for a nearfall. Saints recovered and powered up Page into the Roshambo for the victory.

Ricky Saints defeated Ethan Page via pinfall in 12:43 to retain the NXT North American Championship.

John’s Thoughts: A well worked match between two pros with Ricky doing a good job to sell the lower back. Not sure why they speed-ran a Saints vs. Page feud, but maybe the purpose was to rub salt in the wounds of Tony Khan by having the crowd have their WrestleMania weekend digs (I still think they could have got there with the Saints vs. Spears match since Spears was also in AEW, but Page is a bigger deal and would more naturally invoke the chants). Here’s hoping Saints’ next feud is more serious, prolongued, and has lots of talking, because he thrives in that environment. Meanwhile, Page moves on next week to challenge Joe Hendry for the TNA title (I hope he doesn’t win that match because Frankie Kazarian deserves to come out of that match the champion given the hard work Frankie has done. Hey, technically Tony fumbled with Frankie too).

Separate shots of NXT Champion Oba Femi, Trick Williams, and Je’von Evans were shown as they were arriving to the arena…

Hank and Tank made their entrance first. The NXT Tag Team Champions Fraxiom were out next with their motion blur entrance (the motion blur doesn’t work great in the large arenas sometimes)…

2. Nathan Frazer and Axiom vs. Hank Walker and Tank Ledger for the NXT Tag Team Championships. Hank shoved Axiom to the mat a few times while showing off, slapping his belly. Frazer tagged in and Axiom used an octopus hold to hold Hank in place for Frazer’s jump kick. Frazer rolled up Hank for a one count. Tank tagged in and tossed Frazer into the top buckle. Hank and Tank hit Frazer with strong strikes. Tank got a two count after a Running Senton on Frazer. Hank tagged in and got a two count on Frazer after Frazer ate a slam from Tank.

Axiom tagged in. Fraxiom swarmed both of their opponents with alternating strikes to stand tall. Axiom worked on Hank with strikes. Axiom hit Hank with a Hesitation Dropkick for a nearfall. Hank showed fighting spirit against Axiom’s paintbrush boots. Hank took down Axiom with a desperation lariat. Frazer tagged in and hit Hank with a flying axe handle and standing Shooting Star after running circles around Hank.

Hank reversed a Octopus Hold and used Axiom as a bettering ram on Frazer. Hank hit Axiom with a flapjack and got a hot tag to Tank. Tank did a cartwheel clothesline and backdrop on Frazer. Tank used a clothesline to bring Axiom in the ring. Tank hit Fraxiom with a springboard shoulder block. Tank hit Axiom with a modified spinebuster for a nearfall. Axiom hit Tank with a Golden Ratio to prevent the sandwich move. The commentators weren’t sure who the legal men were.

Frazer staggered Hank with a Superkick. Hank dumped Frazer in the ring and tagged in Axiom. Axiom hit Hank with a Dragon Rana to send him into Tank. Axiom hit Hank with a Frog Splash. Frazer hit Hank with a 450 Splash. Hank kicked out at two. Axiom gave Tank a diving knee at ringside. Hank hit Frazer with a sitout Atomic Drop. Axiom broke up Hank’s pin.

Hank gave Frazer a diving clothesline. Tank flapjacked Hank on Frazer for a nearfall. A “this is awesome” chant ensued. Tank held open the ropes and Hank crash and burned when he missed a suicide dive onto the announce table. A “holy shit” chant ensued. Axiom caught Tank with a superkick. Back in the ring, Fraxiom hit Tank with their Top Rope Total Elimination for a great nearfall. The match hit the 12 minute mark.

Tank fended off Fraxiom with strikes while Hank was still knocked out. Axiom hit Tank with a Super Spanish Fly. Frazer hit Hank with a Phoenix Splash. Hank recovered and broke up the pin for a great nearfall. All four men took turns using signature moves. Hank tagged in and hit Frazer with a bossman slam. Tank hit Axiom with a Suicide Dive. Hank and Tank took off the shirts and Vic called them the Belly Bandits. Hank and Tank hit Frazer with their High Low Power Slam to give Tank the victory.

Tank Ledger and Hank Walker defeated Nathan Frazer and Axiom via pinfall in 13:56 to become the new NXT Tag Team Champions.

Hank and Tank asked for handshakes and got their hands slapped away. Frazer and Axiom instead gave them hugs…

John’s Thoughts: A great tag team match that exceeded expectations. “Exceeded expectations” is something that comes automatic to Hank and Tank because, especially Hank, they look like regular guys (and Hank kinda looks like WWE’s Seth Rogen). Credit to Hank and Tank for being NIL developmental types who put in work over the last 3 or so years to be able to hang in there for long-form matches with the best in the division, and credit to Fraxiom as usual for taking their opponents to another level yet again. I’m a bit surprised that they had Hank and Tank go over strong without Fraxiom doing their usual implosion, given how much NXT has established that aspect of Fraxiom matches. Fraxiom don’t look weak after the loss as the story was Hank and Tank being underdogs that had to pluck out a victory with heart. In a way? I wouldn’t pull the trigger on a Fraxiom breakup just yet. Send them up to tangle with teams like the Machine Guns, War Raiders, New Day, and DIY a bit, THEN break them up (Frazer and Axiom have great singles careers in the future too given their talent level. Axiom being Bryan Danielson-esque and Frazer being Seth Rollins’s clone kohai).

Penn Jillette of Penn and Teller was interviewed by Sarah Schreiber (Penn looking he aged 20 years with the white hair). Lexis King showed up and said he doesn’t believe in magic. King bragged about being a Heritage Cup Champion. Penn told King to put the Heritage Cup into a shark cage he had next to him. Penn pulled a curtain down and made the Heritage Cup disappear. Teller walked out of the cage wearing Jey Uso merch. Teller silently yeeted King to end the segment…

John’s Thoughts: Did they just disappear the heavily-damaged NXT UK Heritage Cup? Fun celebrity involvement though with Penn and Teller showing up on NXT.

Thea Hail made her entrance to new entrance music (Dammit! They took away her random “Crazy” Eddie Edwards theme). The new theme sounds pretty good though, giving me a Metal Gear Revengence type of vibe. Lola Vice made her entrance. Out next was Izzi Dame. Kelani Jordan made her entrance. Zaria and Sol Ruca came out together to Karrion Kross’s TNA theme. Graves informed the viewers that Sol won the WWE Speed Women’s Championship earlier this week against Candace LeRae…

John’s Thoughts: LOL… I joked about it on Tuesday, but did Eddie Edwards actually call HBK and tell him what the hell? Maybe it was Alisha Edwards, because she’s a bit of a spark plug. I kid, I kid.

3. Thea Hail vs. Lola Vice vs. Izzi Dame vs. Sol Ruca vs. Zaria vs. Kelani Jordan in a ladder match for the Vacant NXT Women’s North American Championship. Sol caught Jordan with a X Factor. Dame hit Zaria with a ladder battering ram. Sol rammed a ladder into Jordan. Hail caught Sol with a Tornado DDT. Vice hit Hail with a few kicks. Jordan did a full split to avoid being taken off the ladder. Zaria caught Hail, Jordan, and Dame with Spears.

Zaria used a ladder as helicopter blades to knock down all her opponents. Dame managed to dodge the helicopter and knock Zaria out of it. Vice took a loud hit. Dame backdropped Zaria on a ladder. Jordan hit Dame with a Pele Kick. Kelani hit Vice with a Slingshot Draping Leg Drop. Lani hit Sol and Thea with an Asai Moonsault. Jordan did a nice splits reversal to a suplex and hit Dame with a shortarm Leg Drop on a ladder.

Lani hit Zaria with a One of a Kind on a ladder. Kelani got to the top of the ladder, but Vice knocked her off. Ruca dragged Vice down. Vice put Sol in a Guillotine. Vice hit Sol with a Hip Attack in the corner. Vice hit Hail with rapid kicks and a hip attack. Vice did the same to Dame. Vice hurt her hand by accidentally giving the ladder a backfist. I think Dame called Vice a puta after knocking her down. Dame hit Sol with a Super Sitout Bomb from the ladder.

Hail knocked down the ladder and gave Dame a headbutt. Hail gave Vice  the World’s Littlest Slam, Senton, and Warrior Rope Shake. Hail gave Kelani a T-Bone Suplex on a ladder in the corner. Hail got a hand on the belt, but Izzi nudged the ladder away. Hail put Dame in a Kimura at the top of the ladder and snapped Izzi’s arm. Spears, Jensen, and Vance ran out to check on Dame. Zaria tilted the ladder to drop Hail on top of all four Culling members.

The match was at the 10 minute mark. Jordan dragged Zaria off a ladder and beat her up with a ladder. Sol slid in and protected her tag partner. Jordan rammed a ladder into Sol and created a ladder bridge. Zaria, Sol, and Jordan tightroped the ladder bridge. Vice knocked down Sol and Jordan and went after the belt. Vice put Zaria in a Sleeper when Zaria went for the belt. Zaria broke the hold by falling on the ladder bridge.

Jordan saw this as an opportunity and gave Vice a Frog Splash on the ladder bridge, with Zaria dodging aside. Sol did the classic Shelton spot by slingshoting to the ladder. My feed gave up a bit. Sol and Zaria traded right hands at the top of the ladder after acknowledging that both women have to give up their alliance. Sol showed some good core strength to use handstand boots to knock Zaria off the ladder. Dame pulled Sol down, but Sol jumped off the ladder to hit Dame with a Sol Snatcher. Sol then hit Hail and Vice with a double Sol Snatcher. Sol climed to the top to become the new Women’s North American Champion.

Sol Ruca defeated Zaria, Kelani Jordan, Thea Hail, Lola Vice, and Izzi Dame in a ladder match in 14:40 to become the new NXT Women’s North American Champion.

John’s Thoughts: (My feed gave up at the end of the match, so I’ll be back in a bit with the match timing). Awesome high spot match. There is a fear that having so much inexperienced talent in one match might lead to disaster, but a lot of these developmental wrestlers have gained enough experience to be able to handle the big spots on the big weekend. Sol Ruca continues to stand out as the insane athlete that she is. Good for her for standing out so much in WWE. I expect this to be the start of Zaria being at odds with her getting more success than her.

Separate shots of Stephanie Vaquer and Jaida Parker warming up were shown. A recap aired of the pre-show tag team elimination match. Sarah Schreiber interviewed Gigi Dolin, Tatum Paxley, and Shotzi. Tatum said it was her first stand and Deliver and she was happy to win with her best friends. Gigi talked about how they have been busting their asses in TNA and WWE and will become new champions. Tatum was a bit apprehensive because she didn’t want to face her sweet dove, Lyra Valkyria…

A hype package aired for the DarkState vs. D’Angelo Family Match…

The D’Angelo Family made their entrance first. DarkState made their entrance with unique camera cuts to show each member. Both teams brawled before the bell. Tony D managed to dump a few members out of the ring. Luca and Stacks hit Cutler with a Shatter Machine…

4. Tony D’Angelo, Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo, and Luca Crucifino (w/Adriana Rizzo) vs. “DarkState” Dion Lennox, Saquon Shugars, and Osiris Griffin (w/Cutler James). Luca and Dion started the match with Osiris tagging in. Osiris dumped Luca to ringside and tagged back in Dion who tackle Luca’s injured ribs against the announce table and apron. Vic said that Dion is a hot head and is hear to beat ass. DarkState cut the ring in half on Luca. Vic pointed out how Shugars comes off as the leader of the group.

Luca got a window of opportunity after hitting Shugars with a Deadlift Power Bomb. Tony D punched away Cutler, so Luca tagged in Stacks. Tony D acted a bit peeved at Stacks tagging in instead of him. Stacks hit Dion with a cannonball. Shugars avoided a cannonball after Stacks was distracted staring at Tony D. Stacks slammed Shugars at ringside. Griffin pounced Stacks into the timekeeper area.

Osiris worked on Stacks with methodical and power offense. Dion tagged in and got a two count on Stacks after a Spinebuster. DarkState cut the ring in half on Stacks. The camera shots showed Tony D with a stoic look on his face, looking like a disappointed dad. Stacks managed to ground Shugars with a Knee Plus. Stacks tagged in Tony D who cleaned house with clotheslines and Belly to Bellys. Tony D gave Shugars a super backdrop onto Osiris. Dion broke up Tony D’s pin.

Shugars and Luca suplexed each other to ringside. Dion hit Tony D with a Jackhammer for a nearfall. Dark State hit Tony D with their Diving Shield Bomb. Luca and Stacks broke up the pin. Dark State and The D’Angelo Family squared up in the ring and brawled. Cutler tossed Luca into the ringpost. The crowd popped huge when Rizzo hit Cutler with a top rope crossbody to ringside. Tony D suplexed Osiris and got a two count.

Tony apprehensively looked at Stacks for advise. Stacks brought two crowbars in the ring, but Tony D slapped it away. Stacks refused to let go of one crowbar which allowed Shugars to take both of them out with a running knee. Shugars slipped off a slingshot, but recovered. Tony D ran in and cleared DarkState from the ring. Tony D hip tossed Stacks onto Osiris and Dion at ringside. Cutler grabed a crowbar. A referee prevented him from hitting Stacks.

While the referee was distracted at ringside, Stacks nailed Shugars with a crowbar, making sure he didn’t hit Tony D. Tony D hit Osiris with a Uranage. Tony D and Stacks milked a hug. Stacks teased hitting Tony D in the back with a crowbar and then thought different. Instead, Stacks punted Tony D from behind. A “f*ck you stacks” chant ensued as Stacks went to ringside. Shugars hit Tony D with an assisted pop up Power Bomb to give Lennox the victory.

DarkState defeated Tony D’Angelo, Channing Lorenzo, and Luca Crucifino via pinfall in 13:13.

John’s Thoughts: A well worked match with the Stacks finally having enough and turning on The Family. They’ve been teasing this for over a year and it worked with the crowd here, with them dropping the F bomb chant. They got the right reaction from the crowd with the timing of the HBK-style slow melodrama turn sequence. What I do wonder is if Stacks is in for a character overhaul. The guy is a great wrestler, but there’s only so far you can go looking like a mafia goon. Meanwhile, DarkState is starting to grow on me. They are replicating the formula of The Shield, but that isn’t bad. The Shield was great. What I see that I missed from the Shield era was having their existence created a Trios division in WWE without the need for Trios titles (the problem with Trios titles is that it cannibalizes the tag division). Dion looked good and Shugars continues to pop off the screen in a great way. This was our first look at Osiris Griffin, and he looked good so far as a powerhouse type wrestler.

Sarah Schreiber interviewed Hank and Tank. Hank talked about him being happy to win with a brother in Tank. Tank agreed with the same emotion…

The announcers sent the show to the Women’s Championship Match hype package…

Giulia made her entrance first, sporting her old dreadlocks look (look-wise, I’m a bigger fan of her straight haired, but maybe this means she’ll unleash). Jaida Parker was out next (Not a fan of her new theme. It’s a bit meh and missing something. Her OTM theme was a lot better). Jordynne Grace made her entrance. Out last was the champion Stephanie Vaquer who came out with her awesome devil horns. Mike Rome handled the formal in-ring championship match introductions…

5. Stephanie Vaquer vs. Giulia vs. Jaida Parker vs. Jordynne Grace for the NXT Women’s Championship. After the other two were dumped, Grace and Giulia brawled with Grace dominating with suplexes. Grace dragged Giulia to the top. Vaquer broke things up. Vaquer, Parker, and Giulia took turns trading strikes. Giulia gave Grace a double toehold and double dropkick, ending in a standoff between Giulia and Vaquer. Jaida dragged Vaquer to ringside. Grace tripped Jaida off the apron.

Grace dared Vaquer to hit her harder and harder. Vaquer went for a tightrope armdrag, but Grace held her ground. Vaquer rolled up Grace for a two count. Vaquer got a two count on Grace after a rana roll up. Parker broke up Vaquers pin after a belly to back. Giulia hit Parker with a running boot. Parker dumped Grace to ringside. Giulia hit Parker with rapid strikes. Giulia hit Parker with a Knee Plus for a nearfall. Vaquer and Parker traded hands.

Parker gave Steph shortarm moves while also talking smack. Parker and Vaquer brawled to the top rope. Giulia also went up there. As usually happens in women’s multi-person matches, a Tower of Doom happened, but with Parker hitting a Blockbuster from it. Grace went for quick pins on her opponents. Grace used a deadlift to break Booker T’s favorite move from Stephanie, which drew boos.

Grace hit Giulia with a Jackhammer. Grace German Suplexed both Giulia and Parker for a good nearfall. Giulia hit Grace with a Knee Plus and hit Jaida with a huracanrana. Giulia hit Parker with a Headbutt after dodging a backfist. Giulia hit Grace with a Missile Dropkick. Giulia and Stephanie traded strong right hands. Giulia won the battle with rapid headbutts. Vaquer lowered her base. Giulia reversed Booker T’s favorite move, which again drew boos.

Giulia got a two count after a shortarm curb stomp. Parker hit Giulia with a Samoan Drop. Parker stacked Grace, Giulia, and Vaquer in the corner and hit all of them with her signature draping Banzai Drop. Parker hit Vaquer with a Falcon Arrow for a nearfall. Grace, Vaquer, Giulia, and Parker all tangled each other in submissions with Giulia and Stephanie having the advantage. Parker suplexed Giulia on Stephanie to break the holds.

Steph hit Giulia with Eat De-feet. Vaquer hit Grace and Parker with hip attacks. Vaquer gave Giulia a Dragon Screw in the corner. Stephanie was finally able to hit Giulia with Booker T’s favorite move, the hip thrusts to the mat. Vaquer doubled up by hitting Jaida with the hip thrusts to the mat. Vaquer tripled up with a suplex and Booker’s move on Grace. Triple the humping. Booker may have just [redacted].

Grace caught Giulia with a backfist and Grace Driver. Parker broke it up with Hip Notic on Grace. Giulia rolled up Parker for a 2 and 3 fourths pinfall. Parker hit Giulia with a Gourd Buster and Hip Notic . Vaquer broke it up with a Spiral Tap (that barely it it’s mark). Stephanie hit Parker with a Package Shoulder Breaker for the victory.

Stephanie Vaquer defeated Jaida Parker, Jordynne Grace, and Giulia via pinfall in 16:29 to retain the NXT Women’s Championship.

John’s Thoughts: A fun match as you would expect with the talent and charisma of all four women involved. My low key favorite part was how they were dragging it out with the bait and switches to Stephanie’s signature humping move, which drew boos every time it was broken, and leading to a monster pop once she finally hit Booker T’s favorite wrestling hold in modern wrestling. It was going to be good, no question this would have been better if this four way were instead singles matches involving both pairs. One plus, Giulia looked better tonight and more like in her old form, and it wasn’t just the dreadlocks (As I said though, I preferred the volumized hair look). If anything, Jaida taking the pin protects the other two, but I can’t wait until we get the other three in singles matches and 20+ minutes. Jordynne Grace in particular has shined in the last 5 years, stealing the show with her longform title matches. Some of the best women matches in the last five years.

Lexis King was running around backstage looking for his Heritage Cup, which Penn and Teller disappeared. The camera then cut to Sarah Schreiber catching up with Stacks in the parking lot. Luca ran up to ask Stacks “why?”. Stacks told Luca to pay attention to his phone for a text and he’ll reveal everything on Tuesday…

The NXT Championship triple threat hype package aired…

The cameras followed Oba, Evans, and Trick as they headed to the ring. Trick Williams made his entrance first. Graves noted that Trick main evented Stand and Deliver last year against the winner of the Dre, Carmelo Hayes. Out next was Je’von Evans. Graves noted that if Evans wins the title at age 20, he’ll be the youngest singles champion in WWE (uhm? Didn’t Tyler Bate win the youngest champion at age 19 when he was the WWE United Kingdom champion? Back when it was branded “WWE UK Champion”.). Out last was the champion, Oba Femi. Mike Rome handled the formal in-ring championship introductions…

6. Oba Femi vs. Trick Williams vs. Je’von Evans for the NXT Championship. Oba and Trick blocked that double RKO that Evans hit them with before. Oba took down Evans and Trick with double clotheslines. Evans dropkicked Oba to ringside. Trick and Evans had a stalemate by dodging each others’ footsies. Evans and Trick countered more moves. Evans got a two count off a backslide on Trick. Trick and Evans took each other out with stereo dropkicks. Both men did a kip up to square up.

Oba lifted both Evans and Trick with a double Samoan Drop. Oba hit Evans with a Shango Shoulderbreaker. Oba Press Slam Gutbustered Trick. Oba took down Trick with a clothesline. Evans hit Oba with a slingshot Oba and told Oba that he better protec his dumb ass after getting jumped. Trick hit Oba with Six punches in the corner. John’s Thoughts: I was about to deduct some props due to them forcing another multi-person match over a singles match on this card. That said, all three men put in a lot of work and this turned into a splendid triple threat. TNA this week talked about playing homage to the classic Unbreakable match of AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe vs. Christopher Daniels, and this NXT Stand and Deliver match sorta reminded me of that match, especially with Evans bumping around like a young AJ Styles (with Evans being more developed all-around than Young AJ).

We even had the classic TNA “REF BUMP” with that trope being subverted with the referee kicking Oba Femi. This NXT referee is the most powerful referee in pro wrestling today. Stepping up to the Black Brock Lesnar and coming out unscathed. By the way, speaking of TNA. I wouldn’t mind Je’von Evans going down there and either challenging or winning the X Division title, especially if it’s in a singles match against his fellow 20 year old Leon Slater. Overall, this was a good NXT PLE. I can’t help but criticize it a bit for trying to stuff too many people on the card, as a more truncated card would have stood out more. This is the problem with had in AEW sometimes when they over stuff the shows, or when TNA would homogenize their matches with multi-person title matches weekly. As for a grade, the show gets a “B -” because the wrestlers stepped up still.

  1. Booker T is on fire already today and it’s not even noon!
    Lol

    • I don’t know if he even bothered to sleep if he actually stuck around for the entire HOF ceremony.

      • Speaking of the Hall,
Any thoughts on the speeches specifically HHH’s ending at almost 3:30???!!!
        Great speech though!

        • Very nice speech. People can watch when they want on demand, but I still think they should move the HOF ceremony to a different weekend. It’s putting the talent through a lot, especially if they work WrestleMania night one. I know they like to have the HOF class on the stage at WrestleMania. They can have the best of both worlds by revealing the HOF class by introducing them as they walk onto the WM stage. There are so many legends in town for signings and other events that I don’t think spoilers would be a big problem.

          • Hell, do it on Thursday.

          • They seem to fear that people won’t come to the host city early for Stand & Deliver or the HOF ceremony. That’s the only reason I can think of for not holding one of those shows on Thursday night.

Which seems really odd since WM weekend is now WM week with a bunch of indie shows happening as well. A decent chunk of the people have been there for 3-4 days already.

          • If the don’t do the Hall at an arena and do a theater like this year, Thursday should work without much fear of the fans not being in town yet. I live on the east coast, so my family and I watched this morning. Which is fine. But the fun of Mania weekend is watching these things live. But not a bad idea regarding using Mania weekend to announce the class similar to what the NFL does on SB weekend.

    • With Graves being the actual commentator, they have Booker in there to be similar to Shannon Sharpe in ESPN, where he’s that goofy black uncle…

I say this having a similar goofy black uncle in my unc Jerry…

  2. 3-0 on Murphy’s predictions so far!

  3. Missed the pre-show.

Enjoyed the first two matches a good bit. Neither was a tear the house down classic, but they didn’t need to be.

    Page and Saints are pros.

Interesting to see the crowd appearing to be more behind the grown adult male tag team than the small, flippy, run 1000 mph on every move team. Hank & Tank have a lot of the good parts of the Steiners and early New Day.

Good show. Main event went too far on the false finishes, but they hadn’t beaten that into the ground with the prior matches o it wasn’t too bad.

Evans needs to put on some weight, but his movement made the two bigger men look like stars.

Femi and Gunther needs to be a world title match in the next 2-3 years.

    • A little weight might help, but you also don’t want him to gain too much that it’ll hinder his mobility. We saw that with Rey a bit when he got jacked and we’ve seen a lot of NFL and MLB players show see their agility dip after getting ripped.

What Evans does have in his favor is his height. He really felt like the AJ Styles of the match, and is much further along than young-AJ. I would like to see Je’von in an Ultimate X match now that WWE has that bridge set up.

  5. I’m In Vegas from Australia for this weekend. Couple of notes, top section for all but the hard cam section completely tarped off which gave me a free upgrade to a lower section. Crowd very late arriving, which is understandable given the early local start and late finish if they did HOF. I didn’t as the prices were absurd

  6. I love both guys in Fraxiom, but it’s ambitious to call them future singles stars.

    • Time will tell, but both guys definitely have a lot going for them compared to other wrestlers.

A-Kid Axiom is one of the best wrestlers in the world at replicating that Bryan Danielson/KENTA moveset and even has some of his own original stuff in there. HBK always seemed high on him and he was one of those plot-armor protected wrestlers in NXT UK and even NXT 2.0. His weakness was always his mic work and camera presence, but he has fixed that ever since they erased his face, literally, with the power ranger mask. He does have an amazing deep voice that should be taken advantage of.

Tons of people all over the place were high on Ben Carter/Nathan Frazer before WWE, with many people pushing him to be in AEW when NXT UK closed. You can tell WWE was high on him because they were laying it on WAY thick of him being a clone of Seth Rollins. In fact, Frazer had better character than Rollins if we’re comparing their developmental runs (I thought he showed good character and mic work when they gave him that John Oliver gimmick for a bit). Frazer’s moveset is a carbon copy of Rollins, which isn’t a bad thing
