By Jason Powell, ProWrestling.net Editor (@prowrestlingnet)

AEW Dynamite “Beach Break” (Episode 248)
Chicago, Illinois at Wintrust Arena
Aired live July 3, 2024 on TBS

[Hour One] Renee Paquette stood backstage and welcomed viewers to the Beach Break edition of Dynamite. Paquette introduced Daniel Garcia, who was accompanied by Matt Menard, and asked how much pressure he feels.

Garcia said he didn’t feel pressure, but it’s the most important night of his life. Garcia said he respects Will Ospreay and everything he wants to do for the company, but he put it on his mother’s life that he would not lose.

MJF showed up and offered to be in Garcia’s corner. Garcia said he would see him out there. After Garcia left the scene, Menard said that MJF is okay with him after everything he’s done for Garcia recently…

The broadcast team of Excalibur, Taz, and Tony Schiavone checked in. Ring announcer Justin Roberts delivered the introductions for the opening match…

1. Bryan Danielson vs. Pac in an Owen Hart Cup tournament semifinal match. Excalibur noted that the result of this semifinal match would be known before the semifinals are set on the other side of the bracket. A “holy shit” chant broke out once the opening bell rang. Excalibur said Danielson and Pac had only met twice before and both matches took place over 16 years ago.

Both wrestlers went for simultaneous running crossbody blocks roughly five minutes into the match. They traded punches once they got back to their feet. Pac booted Danielson, who went to ringside. Pac went to the ropes and performed a moonsault onto Danielson on the floor. Pac put Danielson in the Brutalizer, but Danielson got his foot on the rope to break the hold heading into a picture-in-picture break. [C]

Schiavone said the first member of Team AEW will be announced for the Blood & Guts match that will be held on July 24 in Nashville. Danielson took offensive control until he ran into a superkick from Pac at ringside. Pac climbed onto the barricade and dropped an elbow on Danielson on the floor.

Pac rolled Danielson back inside the ring and then hit him with a top rope elbow drop. Pac put Danielson down with a tombstone piledriver and covered him for a near fall. Pac covered Danielson two more times for two counts. Danielson took Pac down and applied the LeBell Lock, which Pac broke by reaching the bottom rope with his foot.

A short time later, Pac performed a top rope brainbuster, which resulted in another near fall. Pac went up top and attempted a Black Arrow that Danielson avoided. Danielson hit Pac with a Busaiku Knee. Danielson held his neck while slowly crawling over to make the cover for a two count.

Pac put Danielson in the Brutalizer. Danielson rolled onto him and got a two count. Danielson applied the LeBell Lock, but Pac rolled onto him for a two count. Danielson countered into a crucifix pin and got the three count.

Bryan Danielson defeated Pac in 16:50 to advance to the finals of the Owen Hart Cup tournament.

After the match, the trainer checked on Danielson while they showed the updated tournament bracket as well as the women’s tournament bracket. Hikaru Shida vs. Mariah May in a semifinal match will be held on Friday’s Rampage…

Powell’s POV: A very good opening match, as one would expect from the wrestlers involved. My one quibble is that the top rope brainbuster was not only not the finisher, but the live crowd didn’t even react like they thought it would be. Call me old school, but some moves should be protected.

Backstage, Paquette interviewed Willow Nightingale about her semifinal match with Kris Statlander. Willow said her mantra is nothing matters. She said she lives by those words. He said life can be so miserable that she would end up in the fetal position if she didn’t look on the bright side.

Willow said Statlander and Stokley Hathaway mock her. Willow spoke about a friend who fighting through depression, and how she lost her TBS Championship, yet will become a two-time Owen Hart Cup tournament winner. She said nothing matters and added, “Smile anyway”… [C]

A video package recapped Jack Perry winning the six-man ladder match for the vacant TNT Championship at Forbidden Door…

Mark Briscoe stood in the ring with a mic in hand and the ROH Championship belt over his shoulder. Briscoe said he represented the baddest tag team the world has ever seen. The crowd responded with a “Dem Boys” chant. Briscoe said he’s called “Chicken” but he’s not scared of shit.

Briscoe said Jack Perry must have a horse shoe up his ass for coming out of the ladder match with the TNT Title. Briscoe said that was last week and he’s worried about this week, which is Shark Week. Briscoe announced that he will represent Team AEW in the Blood & Guts match.

Jack Perry entered the ring and hit Briscoe from behind with the TNT Title belt. Kyle O’Reilly ran out and attacked Perry. AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada pulled O’Reilly off of Perry and then put him down with a Rainmaker clothesline. Perry worked over O’Reilly with punches.

AEW Tag Team Champions “The Young Bucks” Matthew Jackson and Nicholas Jackson walked out without entrance music and hit Briscoe with an EVP Trigger. “The Acclaimed” Max Caster and Anthony Bowens ran out with Billy Gunn. The Elite members exited the ring and hopped the barricade.

Excalibur said Mark Briscoe was official for Team AEW, but noted that each team will have five wrestlers…

Paquette interviewed AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm while Maria May rested her head on Storm’s chest and Luther stood behind them. Storm fired up May about facing Hikaru Shida on Rampage and then hugged her…

Kris Statlander and Stokely Hathaway made their entrance. Willow Nightingale walked onto the stage for her entrance. Statlander went after her, but Willow hit her with a Pounce that knocked Statlander down the ramp. Willow slammed Statlander’s head on the apron. Willow suplexed Statlander on the floor, then rolled her inside the ring to start the match…

2. Willow Nightingale vs. Kris Statlander (w/Stokely Hathaway) in an Owen Hart Cup tournament semifinal match. Statlander took offensive control heading into an early PIP break. [C] Statlander went for a German suplex off the apron. Willow fought her off and Statlander took a bump to the floor.

Willow performed a cannonball dive onto Statlander at ringside. Back inside the ring, Statlander went to the middle rope and was cut off by Willow, who joined her on the ropes and then performed a German suplex.

Willow went to the middle rope and was cut off by Statlander, who hit her with a running boot to the face. Willow and Statlander traded pin attempts that resulted in two counts. Statlander hit an F5 on Willow for a near fall.

Hathaway placed a chain next to one of the ring posts and then distracted Willow, who moved when Statlander tried to hit her with the chain. Willow rolled up Statlander and got the three count…

Willow Nightingale defeated Kris Statlander in 8:40 to advance to the finals of the Owen Hart Cup tournament.

Powell’s POV: An entertaining match with a weak finish. The outcome surprised me, as I thought we’d get Statlander stealing the win and then losing to Mariah May in the finals. That said, I like the idea of last year’s tournament winner advancing to the finals.

Paquette spoke with Jeff Jarrett, Karen Jarrett, Satnam Singh, Jay Lethal, and Sonjay Dutt on the backstage interview set. Paquette said it was an emotionally charged match for Jarrett and asked how he’s been able to prepare without knowing who his opponent would be.

The Jarretts and Singh walked away. Lethal said he and Dutt have never seen Jeff more prepared for anything in his entire life. Lethal said it’s not just about wrestling, it’s about honoring one of Jeff’s best friends Owen Hart… [C]

Tony Schiavone stood in the ring and introduced the returning Britt Baker, who came out to a big pop. Once in the ring, Baker hugged Schiavone, who then made his exit. Baker told the fans that she missed them.

Baker said she thought too hard about what she would say in her first interview back. She said she wanted to talk to the fans if that was okay. She said we all have a past, a present, and a future.

Baker said people have probably wondered where she had been for the last ten months. She said the answer was always that she was injured. She said people know it would take more than a couple of herniated discs and a torn labrum to keep her away.

Baker said she kept looking in the mirror and saying she was good and then one day she was not. She said she had dizziness and her right arm was numb. She said she was unable to open a bottle of water and her entire right side stopped working.

Baker said she spent a week in the hospital with what was essentially a mini stroke. Baker said she told Tony Khan she needed to stay home and get herself right, and he told her to let him know when she was good.

“I’m here, I’m cleared, and I’m healthy,” Baker said regarding her present. She said she was never more nervous than she was on Sunday at Forbidden Door even though all she did was stand on the ramp. She said she’d never doubted herself more and didn’t know if anyone would give a damn when she came out.

Baker said the fans cheered because they have felt the fear of rejection. She said the fear is often worse than the rejection itself. Baker said that when she needed pro wrestling, AEW, and the fans, they welcomed her back with open arms and DMD chants. Baker said she will always be in the corner of the fans because she’s one of them.

Baker addressed her future. She said that when you are going through a hard time, be present and feel all of it because you will get to the other side. She said she heard there is a new female face of AEW.

Baker said it must be so rewarding to her to call herself that after giving her blood, sweat, and tears to build the company from the ground up. Baker accused Mercedes Mone of manipulating her fans by piping in “CEO” into her entrance music. She said the only three letters that matter are DMD.

A car was shown honking its horn on the big screen. Mercedes Money exited the vehicle with her TBS Title and New Japan Strong Women’s Championship. The Young Bucks greeted her and told her that her double championship celebration was ready.

Baker stood in the ring and watched as the production team started setting up balloons for the championship celebration. Mone made her entrance and kissed her new title belt on the stage before heading to the ring where two large photos of her were set up in the corners.

[Hour Two] Mone entered the ring and played to the crowd before looking at Baker. There were CEO chants and then DMD chants. Mone asked Baker if she interrupted something. Mone told the Chicago crowd that it was time to celebrate with the double champion.

Baker said she gets it, she outshined Mone’s moment at Forbidden Door and now Mone is trying to outshine her. Mone claimed she made Forbidden Door famous by becoming a double champion. A “shut the f— up” chant broke out.

Mone said she should have known that Baker would try to steal her spotlight and told her that she wanted her to see what a real star looks like. “All In,” Baker said. “All In, Mercedes, I wrestled at the first All In right here in Chicago.”

Baker said she was the first female to sign with AEW. She said she wrestled at All In last year when Mone was looking like “a broken bitch with a broken leg in the stands.” Baker said she wants to face Mone at this year’s All In.

Mone pie-faced Baker. Mone said she’s never broke, she stays rich. Mone told Baker that there are a long list of women challengers and told Baker to get in the back of the line. Baker asked what line. Mone said there’s a price to pay when you mess with her. Mone’s entrance theme played and then she danced with her title belts and exited the ring…

Powell’s POV: A strong speech from Baker and a good first exchange with Mone. Their first match has a big time feel and it’s perfect that it’s happening at All In. Here’s hoping that Jamie Hayter will join Baker in returning soon.

Highlights aired from Forbidden Door of the nonsense with Don Callis late in the otherwise great Swerve Strickland vs. Will Ospreay main event…

Paquette tried to interview Ospreay while Kyle Fletcher stood behind them. Don Callis showed up. Ospreay dismissed Paquette and then spoke to Callis. Ospreay said he couldn’t use the screwdriver or use the Tiger Driver finisher.

Ospreay said he owes Callis a lot, but he now wants out of the Callis Family. Fletcher looked surprised. Callis said he’s not normally in the habit of letting people out of signed agreements, but he’s proud of Ospreay and what he’s done with his life and what he’s done in AEW.

Callis said he was happy to do a favor for Ospreay, then added that maybe one day he will ask Ospreay for a favor. Callis hugged Ospreay and told him that he will be the world champion and said that he’s proud of him. Callis and Fletcher left the set…

Chris Jericho made his entrance with a contract folder in his hand and waved to the crowd. Jericho said he wasn’t booked for the show so he decided to sit in on commentary. He brought up Hook using his finisher and said it’s the ultimate sign of disrespect.

Jericho took issue with Taz applauding after the match “like a mark.” Jericho said he can’t trust Taz, so he spoke with Matthew Jackson and Nicholas Jackson. Jericho said the contract banned Taz from commentary and required him to leave the building immediately. Several security guards escorted Taz away.

Samoa Joe made his entrance for a trios match followed by Katsuyori Shibata and Hook. The Cage of Agony entrance followed to a flat crowd reaction…

3. Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata, and Hook vs. Toa Liona, Bishop Kaun, and Brian Cage. Jericho sat in on commentary (God help us). Liona ran Hook into the barricade and worked him over heading into an early PIP break. [C] In the end, all three babyfaces applied their choke submissions and got the win…

Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata, and Hook defeated Toa Liona, Bishop Kaun, and Brian Cage in 9:10.

After the match, Jericho distracted the babyface trio by applauding them. Big Bill and Bryan Keith entered the ring and attacked Joe, Shibata, and Hook with chairs. Jericho joined in on the attack. Bill put Shibata’s arm in a chair and then Keith slammed another chair on it.

Bill put Joe over the ring steps and slammed a chair over his back twice. A “please retire” chant broke out. Jericho put on a pair of knuckle dusters (brass knuckles) and hit Hook. Keith slid a table inside the ring. Jericho and Bill set up the table and then Bill chokeslammed Hook through it… [C]

Powell’s POV: Oddly enough, Jericho was actually more obnoxious when he played it straight and yelled constantly during his early run as color commentator. This was a solid beatdown angle, but The Learning Tree gimmick is still dreadful.

Jeff Jarrett made his entrance while Karen, Singh, Lethal, and Dutt stood on the stage and applauded him. Jeff and Karen kissed before Jeff headed to the ring with his guitar in hand. Hangman Page’s new entrance theme played and he headed to the ring. Excalibur assumed this meant that the suspension issued by the EVPs was over…

4. Hangman Page vs. Jeff Jarrett in an Owen Hart Cup tournament quarterfinal match. A “Cowboy Shit” chant broke out once the bell rang. Schiavone said Jeff and Owen Hart teamed for 70 matches in 1999.

The referee got between Page and Jarrett. Page kicked Jarrett, then threw punches to the back of his head. Jarrett fought back briefly, but Page put him down with a clothesline. Page made a mean face before executing a fallaway slam. Page powerbombed Jarrett on the apron. Page slammed Jarrett’s head against the ring steps heading into a PIP break. [C]

Page bit the head of Jarrett while both men were on the apron. Jarrett came back with The Stroke on the apron, causing both men to fall to the floor. Both men beat the referee’s count. Jarrett played to the crowd and got a tame reaction before he threw punches at Page.

Jarrett caught Page with a kick and covered him for a two count. The broadcast team played up the possibility of Jarrett advancing to the semifinals and wrestling in Memphis this weekend.

Page came back with a Deadeye and opted against covering Jarrett. The crowd taunted Page with “Swerve’s House” chants. Page went to the apron and set up for his finisher, but Jarrett collapsed. Page returned to the ring, but Page threw him through the ropes.

Page kicked Jarrett and then went for the Buckshot Lariat, but Jarrett stuffed it and applied a Sharpshooter. The crowd popped big. Page reached the ropes to break the hold. Jarrett showed frustration while Schiavone said that was Jarrett’s shot and he knew it.

Page shoved Jarrett so that his throat hit the top rope. Page hit the Buckshot Lariat and then threw punches at Jarrett rather than pin him. Page hit the Deadeye and then scored the pin.

Hangman Page defeated Jeff Jarrett in 11:00 to advance to the semifinals of the Owen Hart Cup tournament.

After the match, Karen entered the ring and checked on Jeff. The updated brackets showed that Page will face Jay White on Saturday’s Collision…

Powell’s POV: It was nice to see the live crowd get behind Jarrett late in the match. They told a good story with Jarrett’s connection to Owen Hart. I wish they would have had Jarrett win a first round match and then lose to Page in round two. Now we have an awkward heel vs. heel match in the semifinals unless the idea is that Bullet Club Gold are babyfaces despite the lack of a turn angle. Either way, it’s good to see Page back from a long layoff.

Backstage, trainers tended Hook. Big Bill tossed one of the trainers aside. Brian Keith attacked Hook, who battled back. Jericho threw a fireball at Hook. Keith stood over Hook and said he told him to respect Jericho… [C]

Paquette attempted to interview Hangman Page in the backstage area, but the Young Bucks showed up. Matthew Jackson said they lifted his suspension and got him a spot in the tournament. Matthew tried to ask Page about joining The Elite’s team for Blood & Guts.

Page grabbed Matthew by his jacket and told him he’s not a child or a puppet, nor is he in The Elite. Page said he would win the Owen Hart Cup tournament. Nicholas asked Page what his problem is. Page shoved Nicholas aside and stormed away. Matthew enthusiastically yelled welcome back and then Nicholas told the cameraman to cut away…

MJF made his entrance and stood on the stage while Excalibur said MJF will kick off Saturday’s AEW Collision. Daniel Garcia made his entrance and was accompanied by MJF to the ring. Will Ospreay made his entrance and greeted Kyle Fletcher, er, a fan who was dressed like him in the front row…

5. Will Ospreay vs. Daniel Garcia (w/MJF) for the AEW International Championship. Schiavone mentioned that the show would have an overrun. Ospreay knocked Garcia down with an early chop. MJF encouraged Garcia from his corner and told him that was nothing. Ospreay was in offensive control heading into a PIP break. [C]

Garcia battled back and performed two neckbreakers. Ospreay avoided the third neckbreaker, but Garcia put him down with a DDT and then hit the third neckbreaker and covered Ospreay for a two count. A “Danny” chant broke out from some fans.

Excalibur listed the following matches for Friday’s Rampage: Rush vs. Komander, and Mariah May vs. Hikaru Shida in an Owen Hart Cup tournament semifinal match.

Excalibur announced the following for Saturday’s AEW Collision: MJF opens the show, AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm vs. Trish Adora, Hangman Page vs. Jay White in an Owen Hart Cup tournament semifinal match.

[Overrun] The following matches were announced for next week’s Dynamite: The finals of the men’s and women’s Owen Hart Cup tournaments, and AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland appears.

Ospreay powerbombed Garcia for a two count, then picked him up and hit the Styles Clash for a near fall. Ospreay went for the Hidden Blade, but Garcia caught him in a submission hold. Garcia transitioned into a Front Chancery, but Ospreay tossed him away.

Garcia stuffed an OsCutter and then put Ospreay down with a piledriver for a good near fall. MJF left his Dynamite Diamond Ring in the corner. Garcia picked it up and was rolled up for a two count. Garcia countered into a pin for a two count, and then Ospreay returned the favor.

Garcia turned Ospreay inside out with a clothesline. MJF encouraged Garcia to use the ring as a weapon. Garcia handed the ring back to MJF. When Garcia turned around, Ospreay hit him with the Hidden Blade and pinned him.

Will Ospreay defeated Daniel Garcia in 14:25 to retain the AEW International Championship.

Powell’s POV: The recent streak of wrestlers losing matches they dedicate to friends and family members continues.

After the match, Garcia sat in the corner and was emotional. Ospreay spoke squatted next to him and encouraged him while MJF watched from the other side of the ring. Ospreay pointed at Garcia and applauded before exiting the ring.

MJF approached Garcia and said, “That was on me, not on you, you busted your ass.” MJF said he shouldn’t have gotten involved. MJF pulled Garcia to his feet and raised his arm. MJF hugged Garcia, then kicked him in the balls.

MJF put the Dynamite Diamond Ring on his right pinky. Matt Menard ran out and climbed on the apron. MJF used the ring hand while punching Menard to the floor. Once Garcia stood up, MJF punched him out using the ring. MJF went to the ropes and showed off the ring.

“I knew it, that son of a bitch is no good and never was,” Schiavone said. Excalibur said a tiger never changes its stripes. They played up what MJF would say when he opens Collision.

Garcia bled from the forehead while MJF stood over him. Security climbed on the apron and were punched off by MJF, who then worked over Garcia with punches. MJF looked into the camera and asked if this is your boy, then worked him over with more punches before spitting on him.

MJF picked up Garcia and then shoved him back to the mat. MJF picked him up and placed him in a seated position on the top rope while a disgustingly bloody Menard was shown seated at ringside. MJF set up for a tombstone piledriver while Christopher Daniels climbed on the apron and tried to talk him down.

MJF hit the tombstone from the middle rope. Daniels asked MJF why he did what he did. Unfortunately, MJF went back to beating on Garcia rather than Daniels. Anyway, Ospreay finally returned to the ring, causing MJF to exit via the crowd…

A fan gave MJF a double bird. MJF shoved the guy (he was fine) and then dumped over a trashcan. MJF got in the face of a fan next to the first fan before he made his exit. In the ring, Garcia was strapped to a board and then placed on a stretcher at ringside. Ospreay and Menard walked with the EMTs and a graphic listed MJF as opening Saturday’s AEW Collision…

Powell’s POV: Daddy’s back! I’m all for MJF going back to being a heel. The fans like him and he may have to work hard to keep them from cheering him, but he’s among the very best heels in the business and had lost his way as a babyface. The turn only packed so much of a punch because Garcia is liked, yet not a major fan favorite. That said, a hot feud with MJF could move Garcia into that territory. But can he please ditch Menard already?

Overall, this was a strong episode of Dynamite. The timing of going with a more loaded episode than usual is a bit odd given that that it’s a holiday week and viewership could be lower than normal (see the NXT numbers). Either way, I enjoyed it. I will have a lot more to say about Dynamite in my weekly same night audio review for Dot Net Members (including our Patreon patrons). Let me know what you thought of the show by grading it below. Enjoy the holiday weekend!

Where the hell are Adam Cole and Wardlow?

    • Clay Connelly July 4, 2024 @ 1:06 am

Good question…But I’m just happy they actually recognized something was shit for once and didn’t make us sit through a Cole-MJF feud for no reason.

  2. TheGreatestOne July 3, 2024 @ 9:05 pm

Super Spaz Bruv vs The Stolen Lunch Money Kid with MidJF in his corner is a TV main event?

I’m sure the tens in attendance and the hundreds watching at home are really creaming themselves over whatever these Sunday Night Heat jobbers are doing to themselves.

  3. I was scoffed at lw for saying MJF needed a heel turn asap.

I thought this was the best Dynamite in a long while. But one of TK’s biggest weaknesses popped back up. They had just highlighted Ospreay refusing Callis’ attempts to get him to chea/use the Tiger Driver, w/e, and then they did the exact same thing with MJF trying to get Garcia to use the ring. I’ve said this many times, if TK was head writer on a soap opera, he’d have 3 people come back from the dead in the same episode.

  4. No one reacts to a top rope brainbuster. AEW killed their audience. None of the moves matter. Everything gets kicked out of. AEW has taken the suspense out of matches. Moves are just moves.

I wish wrestlers would stop respecting each other and start cutting memorable promos.

  5. This was the best Dynamite in a while, and no surprise since these wrestling promotions put a lot more effort into episodes that are done from big cities like Chicago. Forbidden Door was actually pretty good on Sunday, but the only problem with FD is that most casual wrestling fans don’t care about NJPW and those particular matchups.

Anyways, Britt Baker and Mercedes Mone had the best women’s wrestling promo in any company this year so far, as that was a hot segment. I know some people criticize Baker for her in-ring work, but one thing we can always agree on is that Baker is one of the best females on the mic right now. I love the fact that she let us know everything that was going on with her while she was out for so long. That’s scary to know that she had a near stroke. I didn’t know she was going through hell like that while she was away. I love her speech though, as it was great.

Baker’s pop was awesome at Forbidden Door and it was great to see it carryover to Chicago. Mercedes Mone as a heel is money, as she’s a much better heel than a face, especially with the design of her gimmick. This was her best promo in AEW as well as she felt like a real villain with the fans. Britt had some really good comebacks for her.

This TBS title match at All In feels pretty big because this is pretty much a dream match for women’s wrestling fans. The only problem that I have right now is that I feel like the TBS title feels bigger than the AEW Women’s title. It’s not Toni Storm’s fault, but she hasn’t a real opponent to make her matches have a big feel to them. I think if Mariah May is her opponent at All In then that can help things out.

Also, I understand that Jericho’s Learning Tree might not be the best thing going, but I honestly believe it’s a lot better than JAS, though. JAS was really cringe, it didn’t feel as good as The Inner Circle which is still Jericho’s best faction. I do like how Big Bill and Bryan Keith are being used, though and Jericho is actually funny as this obnoxious heel.

I think Team AEW will have Mark Brisco, Kyle O’Reilly, Anthony Bowens & Max Caster. I don’t think Billy Gunn will fight, so they’ll find one last member to go against the EVPs.

    • You’re wrong. This show sucked like all their shows.

      • I think you meant to write, “I WaTch BuT ComE to PoST with bRainlessOnE beCauze I NEed AtTenTion!”

        • No I just don’t feel the need to continually praise Cocaine Khan for writing a shitty show. This company has grown 0% over the past 5 years, attendance is at an all time low, ratings are the lowest they’ve ever been, all these million dollar game changers have brought 0 viewers but everything is fine and perfect. And Khan still hasn’t got his massive rights renewal that’s he’s expecting. You don’t find it alarming no deal has come yet even though snowman claims everything is all roses with WBD? All don’t know who’s more delusional snowman or you AEDub sexuals

          • The other guy was right you need attention. You must don’t get enough attention in your personal life.

          • A 60 something year old man who writes an essay about his love for AEW is criticizing me. What a loser

  6. Can anyone tell me what the attendance was last night? They had a big advantage with it being the night before a holiday. Yet by the camera angles it looked like most of the place was empty.

Is there any data on the actual crowd number?

    • TheGreatestOne July 4, 2024 @ 10:48 am

Supposedly around 5200 in a place that holds over 10k. Looks like less from the actual crowd shots, but that might just be due to AEW cameramen being so used to hiding large parts of the arena.

    • It didn’t look empty to me plus I got a friend in Chicago who went, I think they only sold a little over 5k for the show. The only side that was empty was on the hard camera side which is normal, anyways.

      • It’s common for AEW for the hard camera side to be empty plus another 25 percent of the building and who are you trying to kid you don’t have a friend let alone a friend in Chicago. How’s the view under khan’s balls?
