NWA Powerr (Episode 3)
Taped September 30 and October 1, 2019 in Atlanta, Georgia at GPB Studios
Aired October 22, 2019 on the NWA Youtube and NWA Facebook Page
A video recap of last week’s storyline involving Nick Aldis, Kamille, and Joe Galli aired… Galli said it’s his job to ask questions about what happens inside and outside the ring. He said he’s been informed that Aldis no longer wants to talk about the Kamille situation, so his interview with Aldis on this episode will be limited to his next challenger for the NWA Championship… The “Into The Fire” opening video aired…
The broadcast team of Galli and Jim Cornette checked in from their broadcast table and were quickly interrupted by Eddie Kingston. Footage aired of The Dawsons interfering in last week’s NWA Tag Title match. Kingston said the NWA was smart enough not to take his and Homicide’s title shot away, but they want the Dawsons in the ring. Kingston said the NWA is lucky that he and Homicide didn’t attack the Dawsons in the parking lot. Kingston called for the match to occur on the spot. He said he didn’t care when it happened…
1. Marti Belle vs. Crystal Rose. The ring announcer noted that the match had a ten minute time limit. Galli said Rose is from skid row and is strongly influenced by grunge. Cornette said he was being told that the Dawsons were doing to respond after the match. Rose hoisted up Belle for a move, but Belle fought free and clotheslined her a couple times. Belle knocked Rose down with a punch. Belle ended up winning with a facebuster style move…
Marti Belle defeated Crystal Rose.
Powell’s POV: I’m not sure how much Belle has been working since her Impact run, but her offense looked rough.
David Marquez checked in from the interview desk and introduced Dave Dawson and Zane Dawson. The duo drew heat from the crowd and said it’s time for them to throw their weight around. They said they would fight any single guy in the back except for Kingston and Homicide…
A teaser graphic said Tim Storm was up next… An ad aired for the NWA returning to the studio or the Into The Fire pay-per-view on December 14 and the two nights of tapings that will follow…
A vignette showed rapid fire shots of Thunder Rosa…
Galli interviewed Aron Stevens on the interview set. He showed up wearing a pirate shirt. Galli reminded viewers of Stevens’ no eye contact rule and asked who his partner would be in a match against The Dawsons. The crowd taunted him by calling him Captain Morgan, which he fired back at, which led to a “Captain Morgan” chant. Funny. Stevens said he was dressed the way he was because of his film Tropical Pirates, and footage aired of Stevens in the supposed movie coming out in the summer of 2020. Stevens said when it comes to acting, he has more chops than Ric Flair…
A teaser hyped more wrestling and Tim Storm along with a (we promise) note… Footage aired of Nick Aldis vs. Tim Storm from the first edition of NWA Powerrr…
2. Caleb Konley vs. Dan Parker. Konley won the match with a springboard moonsault…
Caleb Konley defeated Dan Parker.
Powell’s POV: I’ve never understood why Konley hasn’t caught on somewhere full-time. Hopefully that will happen with the NWA or another promotion.
Galli interviewed Tim Storm on the interview set. Storm spoke about how the perception of him and the NWA has changed. He mentioned his mother, which led to “Momma Storm” chants. He said he had no regrets over taking the NWA Championship match with Nick Aldis with the stipulation that he couldn’t challenge him again if he lost.
Eli Drake came out and said Storm’s mother would probably be more upset by the idea of Storm quitting. Drake suggested that they team together and challenge for the NWA Tag Titles, and said they would be teaming up to face The Dawsons. Storm said he wanted to make his mother proud and said he would think about it…
A graphic hyped an apology from Jocephus…
Jocephus’s spiritual advisor was featured in a commercial for “invisible hair” cream. Funny…
Jocephus came to ringside and then footage aired of James Storm beating Jocephus two weeks ago. Colt Cabana came out. Josephus pulled out a cowboy hat, which Cabana put on and mocked James Storm. Jocephus pulled out a beer, which Cabana failed to open with his teeth. Jocephus and Cabana shook hands, but Josephus didn’t let go of his hand at first. Once he did, he threw powder into the eyes of Cabana.
Josephus rolled Cabana inside the ring and waited for him to get up. James Storm entered the ring and hit Jocephus with a Last Call superkick. Storm set up to do the same to Cabana, but Ken Anderson came out and pulled Cabana from the ring…
A brief video focused on upcoming NWA related live events…
Galli interviewed Nick Aldis, who was accompanied by Kamille, on the interview set. Aldis said the energy from everyone backstage is bringing out the best in him. Aldis listed Ricky Starks as his draft pick. Galli once again asked Aldis why he won’t let Kamille speak for herself. Aldis said it’s a non issue. He said they handle their business inside the ring and don’t engage in clickbait or tabloid antics.
Aldis told Galli to go ahead and asked Kamille a question. Gallis asked her about being Aldis’s insurance policy. Kamille remained silent. Aldis said Kamille doesn’t speak because she doesn’t feel like speaking and if she does then they will let Galli know…
Galli said The Dawsons would face Eli Drake and a partner after the break… A strange video asked “Who is the Mark”…
3. Eli Drake and Tim Storm vs. Zane Dawson and Dave Dawson. Drake came out first and then Storm came out dressed in his ring gear for the match. Late in the match, Storm whipped Drake at one of the Dawsons, but the Dawson moved and Drake crashed into the ring post. Storm was left to fight alone and one of the Dawsons slammed and pinned him.
The Dawsons defeated Eli Drake and Tim Storm.
After the match, the Dawsons continued to attack Storm while Drake was down at ringside. Eddie Kingston and Homicide ran out and the Dawsons fled. Kingston and Homicide headed to the back, then Nick Aldis came out to check on Storm while Drake recovered and joined them in the ring…
The closing credits aired… Another ad aired for the NWA television tapings that will be held on December 15 and 16 in Atlanta…
Powell’s POV: Another fun episode. The studio audience is small in size, yet they are now three episodes into the first day of tapings and they are showing no signs of fading. They are an energetic group that helps make the show fun. I really enjoy the way the wrestlers play off of things the fans say or chant during the promos.
I’m still not sure what to make of the Galli, Aldis, and Kamille story. At this point, it comes off like Kamille has simply chosen to remain silent. There’s really no hint that Aldis is forbidding her from speaking, so Galli comes off heelish for continuing to ask about it, especially after he said he wasn’t going to. I’m sure there’s more to come from that storyline, so perhaps it will make more sense by the time all is said and done.
