Fox CEO Charlie Collier spoke at a Television Critics Association event on Thursday and addressed WWE Smackdown’s move to the network in October. “WWE relationship, we have said that is Friday night…short time Friday night is going to WWE,” Collier stated at the event, according to Monstersandcritics.com. Collier added that Smackdown will air live on Fox and that Fox Sports 1 will feature additional WWE programming.
Powell’s POV: I’ve heard a lot of talk from people in the pro wrestling industry lately that the NXT television show will air on FS1, though this was not addressed by Collier and has not been confirmed by WWE. Collier using the words “short time” to describe Smackdown’s run on Friday nights on Fox is interesting. The assumption is that he was teasing the possibility of a move to a different night. But is it possible that Smackdown’s run on the main Fox network is planned to be brief and that it will eventually be moved to FS1?
