Lance Russell, the legendary voice of Memphis Wrestling, died on Tuesday at age 91, according to his son’s post on Twitter. Russell had been hospitalized since he fell and broke a hip last week.
Powell’s POV: Russell was a terrific play-by-play voice and is regarded as one of the true nice guys of the industry. Russell died just four days after his daughter lost her battle with cancer. My condolences to his family during this difficult time.
Hey All, wanted to share the sad news that dad passed away this morning. You all have been a blessing in this difficult time. Thank You!!!

An absolute giant of the business in the territory days. He feels underappreciated, but for me he’s every bit on part with Solie and Ross.
He was a good announcer. I liked him as he wasn’t grating at all. A true legend in Memphis wrestling.
