Mauro Ranallo will remain with WWE and begin work as an NXT commentator. “WWE and I mutually agreed to end my responsibilities on SmackDown having nothing to do with rumors about disputes,” Ranallo wrote on his Instagram page. “As I remained under contract with WWE, we discussed a variety of options. Despite originally agreeing to part ways, there was always a desire to continue working together. We have come to terms on a new agreement that benefits both WWE and me, and I am thrilled to announce I will now be part of the NXT broadcasting team.” Read more at WWE.com.
Powell’s POV: This is a pleasant surprise, as it was widely assumed that Ranallo would leave the company when his deal expired in August. One would assume that he will replace Tom Phillips, who is calling Smackdown, and that Ranallo will be joined by Nigel McGuinness and Percy Watson as color commentators.
