Powell’s POV: WOW is often campy and has plenty of flaws, but the video packages that set up their matches are something that the other companies can learn from. It’s really common sense and yet it happens so infrequently for pro wrestling television shows that it stands out when a promotion actually takes the time to do it right.
1. Abilene Maverick and The Disciplinarian (w/Samantha Smart) vs. “The Bully Busters” Stephy Slays and Keta Rush. In the end, Slays performed a sunset flip into a pin on The Disciplinarian. The referee hesitated while making the three count because he was distracted by Maverick and Rush fighting. He quickly indicated that it was a three count.

The broadcast team explained the finish while footage aired heading into a break… [C]
Powell’s POV: A decent opener despite the clunky finish. The storyline feud between Slays and Maverick was protected in that they didn’t have one pin the other.
Backstage, Maverick told The Disciplinarian and Smart that she’s finished with them. The Disciplinarian barked that she couldn’t talk to them like that…
A “Dixie Darlings” vignette aired on Jolynn and Jolenen and recapped how the duo stole the boots from Jessie Jones and Amber O’Neal…
2. Jessie Jones and Amber O’Neal vs. “The Dixie Darlings” Jolynn and Jolene. Before the match, Jones cut a promo complaining about losing a match because the Darlings stole their boots. Jones and O’Neal isolated Jolene for a good portion of the match. Jolene rallied with a backslide on O’Neal and had the pin, but the referee was caught up with Jones. Jolene eventually made a hot tag, then Jolynn worked over Jones briefly. Jones cut off her offense quickly. O’Neal pulled Jolene off the apron, then Jones applied a submission hold on the arm of Jolynn and got the tap out win…

Powell’s POV: It’s rare that I feel a WOW match goes a bit longer than needed, but that was the case here. It would have been fine if Jolynn’s hot tag sequence had amounted to more. Meanwhile, I assumed O’Neal was going to be a babyface once Lana Star replaced her with The Lioness, but she just moved into a heel tag team role with Jones.
McLane hyped The Lioness vs. Khloe Hurtz… Lana Star sat in front of a mirror at an undisclosed location and told The Lioness that things would be great if they did things her way. The Lioness shrugged her shoulders and said alright. “They’ll learn to never underestimate me,” Star said… [C]
Footage aired of Khloe Hurtz losing to Sassy Massy and then a backstage rant that saw Hurtz firing The Ring Rats for costing her the match…
3. The Lioness (w/Lana Star) vs. Khloe Hurtz. Star cut a pre-match promo and said fans would see a new Lioness and said fans would never underestimate her again. Lioness came out and performed her season one entrance song while two women danced behind her. Hurtz applied a nice submission hold that she released for no good reason. The Lioness came right back with a bodyslam and an elbow drop for a two count. Lioness grabbed Hurtz by the hair and a clump of her extensions fell out. Oops. Lioness performed a spinning kick and went for the cover. Hurtz put her foot on the rope, but Star pushed it off, then Hurtz kicked out. Hurtz came back with a Samoan Drop. Star stood on the apron and ended up hitting Hurtz with a mirror over the back of the head, then Lioness scored the pin…

Powell’s POV: One of the nice things about The Lioness joining Star was that she abandoned the song and dance number until now. The broadcast team told the story that Star uses her assistants and fires them, so they may already be working toward The Lioness splitting away, which may explain her bringing back her old babyface entrance. Nothing has happened yet, so this felt like a match between two heels. Or maybe Hurtz is a babyface? I don’t even know.
4. “Monsters of Madness” Havok and Hazard vs. Holidead and Siren The Voodoo Doll vs. Adrenaline and Fire in an elimination match in a WOW Tag Title Series match. McLane explained that one team would lose and be eliminated from the tag team series while the two remaining teams would meet in next week’s finale. Late in the match, Holidead hoisted Havok onto her shoulders, but she couldn’t keep her up. Havok put Holidead on her shoulders and performed an Air Raid Crash (Samoan drop) and scored the pin…
The Monsters of Madness beat Siren The Voodoo Doll & Holidead and Adrenaline & Fire in an elimination match in a WOW Tag Title Series match.
Powell’s POV: So this was not the finals of the horribly explained WOW Tag Titles Series. I should be looking forward to seeing new champions crowned, but the series has been such a mess that I just can’t wait for it to be over. At any rate, it will be Havok and Hazard vs. Adrenaline and Fire in what should be a good match for the tag titles next week.
