TNA Bound For Glory
Aired live October 26, 2024 on pay-per-view
Detroit, Michigan at Wayne State Fieldhouse
Pre-Show Notes
Tom Hannfan and Matthew Rehwoldt were on commentary. Jade Chung was the ring announcer…
Tom Hannifan welcomed viewers to the pre-show. He was cut off by Ash’s Personal Concierge making his entrance. The Concierge berated the crowd and introduced Heather by Elegance and Ash by Elegance to the ring. Heather and Ash by Elegance made their entrance. Xia Brookside and Brinley Reece then made their entrance. Tom Hannifan noted that Reece and Brookside have teamed before on TNA XPlosion against a few WWE developmental wrestlers…
1. Ash by Elegance and Heather by Elegance vs. Xia Brookside and Brinley Reece. Reece hit Reckless with a hip toss and then worked on Heather with wristholds. Reece tackled Heather to her corner and tagged in Brookside. Reece gave Brookside a wheelbarrow slam on Heather for a nearfall. Brookside hit Heather with a Monkey Flip followed by a Octopus Hold. Brookside slammed Heather to the mat for a two count. Reece tagged in and gave Heather a suplex.
Ash tagged herself in and berated Heather for not dominating the match. Reece suplexed Ash. Ash and Heather argued with Ash being condescending. Heather pulled Ash away to save her from Brinley’s baseball slide. Heather tagged back in. Ash draped Brinley on the apron to hit her with a tandem DDT and Double Stomp from both heels. Heather hit Brinley with a Basement Dropkick to give Ash a two count. Brinley rolled up Ash for a two count.
The heels cut the ring in half on Brinley while the crowd chanted “We want Xia”. Reece got a window of opportunity after a front flip into a clothesline. Xia caught the hot tag with Ash also tagging in. Xia and Ash traded Yay-Boo forearms with Xia dominating. Xia then hit Ash with a few huracanranas. Xia hit Ash with a few Meteoras to the back in the corner. Brinley tagged in. Xia hit Ash with a Codebreaker to give Brinley a nearfall.
Heather caught a blind tag. Reece rolled through a Crossbody and hit her with a TKO. The Concierge put Heather’s leg on the rope for a rope break. Xia argued with The Concierge to prevent interference. The Concierge threw his jacket on Xia. Xia choked The Concierge with his Jacket. Back in the ring, Heather hit Reece with a Super Spanish Fly. Ash hit Reece with Rarefied air for the victory.
Ash by Elegance and Heather by Elegance defeated Brinley Reece and Xia Brookside via pinfall in 8:42.
John’s Thoughts: A fun opening tag match. The NXTNA relationship continues to prove beneficial to both NXT’s and TNA’s women’s divisions. In a way, TNA is a step above Level Up, allowing developmental women and men to work in front of meaningful crowds and against non-Performance Center wrestlers. TNA in a way is like a AA baseball farm system where they can send NIL wrestlers over without cluttering up the CW show, which was the case pre-TNA partnership. Xia Brookside has been underutilized in TNA, mostly because she they had her clowning around in the PCO wedding story as a background character. I hope we see her more in the ring. The Heather by Elegance thing feels not only campy, but rushed, because this would have been a good story to pull out after Heather had some character development.
A hype package aired for the TNA World Heavyweight title match on Bound for Glory…
Separate shots of Joe Hendry and Nic Nemeth were shown as they were arriving to the arena “earlier today”…
Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt checked in on commentary. Hannifan hyped up the Hall of Fame and talked about how TNA wouldn’t be here if not for Bob Ryder. A video package aired, showing highlights from the late Bob Ryder’s tenure in TNA. The video included words from current and past TNA stars. AEW’s Jeff Jarrett and WWE’s AJ Styles even sent in some videos, talking about how important Bob Ryder was to them. The crowd chanted “Thank you Bob”.
Eric Young made his entrance with Ryder’s award in hand. Young went to the podium and talked about how large crowds like this were 20 years in the making. He said one man was responsible for that. Young said he’s proud to induct the incomparable Bob Ryder. Young said what TNA has been and will become, started on a boat in the Gulf of Mexico with three men, Jeff Jarrett, Jerry Jarrett, and Bob Ryder.
Young talked about Ryder liking wrestling all his life starting with ECW, then to WCW, then to TNA. Young talked about Ryder being one of the pioneers of the Internet Wrestling Community. Young talked about Ryder having many executive roles in TNA like Talent Relations. Young said he personally liked how if there was a problem with travel, Ryder will get it fixed in minutes. Young talked about how he respects Ryder as a friend even more.
Young talked about Ryder not having immediate family to spend holidays at. Young talked about having Ryder stay at his home during the holidays and Young saw him as family. Young said Ryder loved the 3 F’s: Football, Friends, and Food. Young said that Brazilian Steakhouses are losing a lot of business with Ryder gone. Young talked about Kazarian claiming to be the King of TNA, but the true King is Bob MF’ing Ryder. Young then ended his speech by raising the award and starting a “Thank You Bob” chant…
John’s Thoughts: Classy speech and a awesome celebration of life. Memoriam segments are tough for everyone and Young did a good job framing this in a happy tone as opposed to a somber tone. Ryder is an unsung legend in TNA and I’m happy he got to get his flowers. Rest in Heaven homie Ryder!
Hannifan and Rehwoldt checked in on commentary and sent the show to a Rhino highlight package…
Tommy Dreamer made his entrance in a suit. Tommy talked about inducting The Dudleys into the Hall of Fame and then ate a 3D the next day. Dreamer said he inducted Raven in the Hall of Fame and then immediately ate an Even Flow DDT. Dreamer said he hates whoever made the term “always a bridesmaid, never the bride”. Dreamer hyped up Rhino. He talked about Rhino having a weird neck. Dreamer then named all of Rhino’s championships that he won in ECW, WWE, and TNA.
Dreamer started a Gore chant with the crowd. Dreamer said Rhino looks tough in the ring but is softer in the back, giving advice to young wrestlers and loving the crowd. Rhino talked about Rhino saying every year that it’ll be the year for the Detroit Lions. Dreamer said Detroit will now induct their Rhino. Dreamer then welcomed Rhino to the podium. Rhino made his entrance in a red suit. The crowd chanted “you deserve it”.
Rhino said he doesn’t deserve it, WE deserve it. He talked about how Detroit made him. He said he was born here, raised here, and he will be dead and buried here in the best state in the crowd. Rhino said it was a wonder they found a suit that fits Dreamer. Rhino joked that Dreamer mocked Rhino’s red suit. Rhino said red is his favorite color. Rhino then said for the ladies he likes blonde. He then clarified that his girlfriend was blonde. Rhino thanked his brother and daughter.
Rhino talked about how his daughter told him she loves him despite him not being home. Rhino talked about Jim Cornette discovering him and getting him a WWE tryout. Rhino talked about botching a splash, but Cornette praised him because Rhino sold it as a headbutt. Rhino named off ECW legends that helped him. He then thanked WWE, Triple H, Jim Ross, and Pat Patterson for believing in him. He thanked Edge and Christian for always being a friend. He said he also sees Dreamer as a brother.
Rhino thanked Johnny Swinger. He thanked D’Amore for training him. Rhino then thanked his former tag partner Heath Slater. He said Heath is a great father and husband. Rhino talked about Heath giving him hope when Rhino’s brother was going through cancer treatments. He said it’s moments like that why he sees Heath as a family member. Rhino said he always believed in God. He said he’s guilty of only mentioning God when he needs sometimes, but God is important to him.
He said his faith taught him to leave the world better than he entered it. Rhino then ended his speech with a Gore chant…
John’s Thoughts: Solid intro by Dreamer. A good and humble speech by Rhino. It’s always cool to hear Rhino talk as a regular person and I’m surprised he always reverts back to the worn out grunting animal dude. He’s well spoken. It was cool to see him give props to the people closest to him. The heartfelt moment came when he took a large part of his allotted time to dedicate it to Heath Slater who obviously carried him through one of the toughest parts of his life.
An ad aired for a movie that is sponsoring Bound for Glory…
Steve Maclin approached Eric Young and praised him for a good speech for Bob Ryder. Maclin said he’s sorry he couldn’t help Young when the Northern Armory attacked him. Young said it’s fine. Young said he’s going to make sure that Williams and Icarus don’t interfere later on and told Maclin to take care of Josh Alexander…
Separate shots of Jordynne Grace and Masha Slamovich were shown as they arrived to the arena…
Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt checked in on commentary and explained the rules of the Call Your Shot gauntlet (Essentially, the same as the Royal Rumble)…
Frankie Kazarian was number 1 with Zachary Wentz coming out as number 2 (which might as well also be number 1…
2. The TNA Call Your Shot Gauntlet Match. Wentz hit Kazarian with a sweep and dropkick. Kazarian came back with right hands. Wentz hit Kazarian with a German suplex. Kazarian hit Wentz with a Guillotine Leg Drop. Wentz held on the top rope to prevent elimination. Wentz hit Kazarian with a slingshot Codebreaker. Out at number 3 was Jake Something. Something hit Wentz with multiple clotheslines and countered a leapfrog by giving Wentz a chest check. Something and Kaz teamed up on Wentz.
Trey Miguel made his entrance at number 4. Trey cleaned house. Trey and Wentz swarmed Something with kicks and soaked in cheers. Alexander Hammerstone was number 5. Wentz and Trey used hands to back down Hammerstone. Hammerstone suplexed Trey and power bombed Wentz on Trey. Kaz tried to gas Hammerstone up, but was lifted. Hammerstone and Something teamed up and gave Kazarian a double clothesline.
Rohit Raju made his return to TNA at number 6. Raju suplexed Trey on Something. Hammerstone the punched Rohit to the mat. Laredo Kid was out at number 7. Kid hit a long missile dropkick on Hammerstone. Kid was the first eliminated when he was shoved by Hammerstone off the top rope. Hammerstone no sold right hands by Trey. Trey stood on the apron and eliminated Trey by giving him a Military Press on Kid.
Sami Callihan was out at 8. Callihan eliminated Hammerstone. Kazarian clawed at the face of Callihan. John Skyler was number 9. Rehwoldt noted that it was Skyler’s birthday. Kazarian held on the rope to prevent from being eliminated by Skyler. The wrestlers paired off and brawled. Bhupinder Gujar was number 10. Bhupinder gave Skyler a spinebuster. Bhupinder skinned the cat when Raju tried to eliminate him. Trent Seven came out at number 11. Seven came in and hit Skyler with a DDT.
Seven waved around a Detroit Pistons towel. KC Navarro made his entrance at number 12. Navarro did Sami’s Thumbs Up thing, but was power bombed by Sami for doing so. The match was at 12 minutes at this point. TNA Hall of Famer Rhino made his entrance at 13. Rhino quickly eliminated Bhupinder, Raju, Skyler, and Callihan. Hannifan noted that Rhino has tied Chris Sabin with 13 Bound for Glory appearance. Tasha Steelz made her entrance at 14. Steelz gave Navarro a cutter. Rhino blocked a cutter by Tasha. Tasha gave Rhino a pie face and then clapped her cheeks in front of Rhino.
Lei Ying Li (Xia Li) made her entrance at 15. Lei eliminated Tasha with a reverse Roundhouse. Jason Hotch was number 16 Hotch ate Seven’s Bop and Bang but then came back with a stomp on Seven. Wentz eliminated Navarro with a dropkick. Leon Slater was number 17. Slater cleaned house. Kazarian crotched Slater on the top rope. Li rallied with Forearms on Kazarian when he disrespected her. Li hit Kazarian with a reverse roundhouse.
Kazarian drew boos by hitting Li with a lariat and eliminating her after. Jonathan Gresham made his entrance at number 18. JDC Johnny Curtis was number 19. JDC eliminated Leon Slater. AJ Francis was out last. He eliminated Gresham with a kick. AJ then eliminated Seven with a Uranage. Kazarian eliminated Hotch. Wentz was eliminated by AJ. AJ, JDC, Kazarian, and Rhino were the final 4. Rhino hit Kazarian with a Gore.
Rhino hit the Gore on JDC immediately and then eliminated JDC by tossing him over the top rope. Francis hit Rhino with a Gore. Rhino hit AJ with a clothesline to eliminate him. The last fall must be won by pinfall. Kazarian picked up the win after a low blow on the TNA Hall of Famer Rhino.
Frankie Kazarian won the Call Your Shot Battle Royal in 26:37 of total match time to win the Call Your Shot Trophy.
The referee handed Kazarian the trophy (which looks better than that high school participation toy trophy that they used to use)…
Hannifan and Rehwoldt checked in on commentary and hyped up Bound for Glory…
John’s Thoughts: A solid Royal Rumble style match and a step above your usual TV battle royal. All the wrestlers were allowed to have some shine and highlights in this match. A few minor surprises with people like Rohit Raju or Bhupinder Gujjar showing up for the first time in a while. I’m surprised there wasn’t any NXT involvement, as pulling the NXT card is an instant surprise-pop. What kinda hurt this match a bit was TNA laying it on so thick the last two weeks that Frankie Kazarian will win the match. They also telegraphed that Kazarian will use that trophy to insert himself in the main event.
Main Show Review
Jade Chung introduced singer Ilona to sing the National Anthem…
A intro video aired for the show…
Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt were on commentary. Jade Chung was the ring announcer…
Entrances for the X Division title match took place. Hannifan noted that Mike Bailey has lost to Vikingo once before at Game Changer Wrestling…
1. “Speedball” Mike Bailey vs. El Hijo Del Vikingo for the TNA X Division Championship. Bailey and Vikingo soaked in “This is awesome” chants. Vikingo and Bailey shared a honorable handshake. Vikingo and Bailey struck a fighting pose. Both men then had a martial arts exchange. Both men then traded chain wrestling and rollups. Both men landed at a stalemate after trading Shotgun Dropkicks. Vikingo dumped Bailey to ringside with a huracanrana and followed up with a Suicide Dive.
Vikingo buckled his leg and Hannifan noted that Vikingo was hurting on the injured leg that kept him out of commission for months. Bailey used an Indian Deathlock on Vikingo’s injured leg. Vikingo got to the rope for the break. Bailey hit Vikingo with a Mafia Kick and Vader Bomb Meteora for a nearfall. Bailey went back into a TKD Fighting Pose and worked on Vikingo with Tae Kwon Do kick variations.
Vikingo got a breather after hitting Bailey with a Superkick. Vikingo continued to sell his injured knee. Vikingo did a kick flip off Bailey and dodged a right hand with a Tiger Feint. Vikingo hit Bailey with a Slingshot Missile Dropkick. Both men eluded each others’ Baseball Slides. Viking did a tightrope on the barricade and did an Old School right into a Dragonrana (Vikingo is so smooth. I’d be afraid in the front row that he would fall on me, but this guy is pretty flawless with his balance). Bailey recovered and hit Vikingo with a corkscrew Asai Moonsault.
Vikingo avoided a Shooting Star Press. Bailey hit Vikingo with the Green Tea Plunge (Spanish Fly) for a nearfall. Vikingo hit Bailey with a Kick and locked in a Triangle on Bailey. Vikingo hit Bailey with a Monkey Flip when Bailey was about to escape. bailey hit Vikingo with a Dragon Screw on the injured knee. Bailey body slammed Vikingo. Bailey hit Vikingo with a Shooting Star Press for a nearfall.
Bailey faked out Vikingo with Chamber Thrust Kicks. Vikingo countered a Tornado Kick with a Trouble in Paradise Spin Kick. Both men beat the ten count. Bailey and Vikingo traded fighting spirit chest slaps. The match reached the ten minute mark at this point. Bailey pulled out the heelish move by faking the slap into kicking Vikingo’s injured leg. Bailey chambered his way into a Karate Kid pose.
Bailey hit Vikingo with a Daniel LaRusso lookin’ Crane Kick. After setting Vikingo up, Bailey hit Vikingo with Ultima Weapon. Vikingo kicked out of Bailey’s finisher. Vikingo countered Bailey’s other finisher into a Canadian Destroyer. Vikingo caught Bailey with a corner meteora. Bailey rolled to ringside, but Vikingo did a tightrope on the ropes and hit Bailey with a Corkscrew Moonsault. Bailey kocked Vikingo off the apron with a Gamengiri.
Vikingo avoided a standing Ultima Weapon. Vikingo stood on the ringpost and hit Vailey with a crazy Panama Sunrise from the top rope. Bailey recovered to avoid Vikingo’s finisher. Vikingo dragged Bailey to the top rope. Bailey hit Vikingo with Meteorain (Superplex) for the victory.
Mike Bailey defeated El Hijo Del Vikingo via pinfall in 14:55 to retain the TNA X Division Championship.
John’s Thoughts: I like how most of Bailey’s finishers are named after stuff from Final Fantasy 7. Swinging yo sword around ta drop a meteor shower on foos. Dat’s madness! Meteorain is one of my favorite Limit Breaks from that game. Anyways, I digress. The match looked fire on paper and you had no doubt that both men will deliver. Smart to protect Vikingo with the injury which also added to the story of the match. Vikingo does also maintain credibility by kicking out of Ultima Weapon. It’s also cool to see that Vikingo is just as crazy as ever with his balance coming off his big injury. Bailey showed a bit of heel tendencies here which is fresh for him. Hannifan noted that Vikingo won one match against Bailey at GCW. I hope that we can get a rubber match down the road, and maybe 5 more minutes of insane spots.
Tom Hannifan welcomed the French Broadcast team to the show. The commentary team ran through some upcoming matches…
Entrances for the Knockouts Tag Team Title match took place. Hannifan noted that Wendy Choo has the opportunity to become the first active WWE wrestler to win a title in TNA…
2. “Spitfire” Jody Threat and Dani Luna vs. Wendy Choo and Rosemary for the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championship. Spitfire used tags to cut the ring in half on Roesmary. Choo used her body pillow to cushion Rosemary after she took a Irish Whip in the corner. Threat took the pillow and gave it a German Suplex (that gut a chuckle out of me). Choo tagged in and worked on Threat with kicks in the corner. Choo distracted the referee so Rosemary could hold on to the Upside Down for more than a 5 count.
Hannifan noted that Luna has been away from Threat for a few weeks. Threat got a window of opportunity after hitting Choo with a clothesline. Luna and Rosemary tagged in with Luna having the momentum. Luna hit Rosemary with a body slam and dropkick. Luna knocked Choo down with a Mafia Kick. Luna hit Rosemary with a missile dropkick. Luna reversed a Jackknife into a Power Bomb for a nearfall. Luna hit Rosemary with a Suicide Dive.
Choo dominated Threat at ringside. Choo and Rosemary hit Threat with a double team DDT on the ringside floor. Threat hit Rosemary and Choo with a top rope cannonball to ringside. Threat helped get Rosemary and Luna back in the ring to break the count. Choo tripped Threat off the apron to prevent a tag. Rosemary hit Luna with a spear. Rosemary had the visual pinfall, but broke up her own pin. Rosemary tagged in Choo.
Luna recovered in the corner and hit both women with a power bomb. Threat tagged in and gave both opponents with chops and kicks. Choo caught Threat with a Codebreaker (lots of Codebreakers tonight). Rosemary accidentally ran into Choo. Threat stacked Choo and Rosemary on the 2nd rope and hit them both with a Meteora and Double German Suplex. Luna hit Rosemary with the assisted Power Bomb for the win.
Spitfire defeated Rosemary and Wendy Choo via pinfall in 10:32 to retain the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Titles.
After the match, when Wendy Choo turned her back, Rosemary gave her a Spear. Hannifan sent the show to a replay of the finish of the Call Your Shot match which Frankie Kazarian won…
John’s Thoughts: A hard worked match with a few nitpicks. Both teams haven’t received the proper character development which led to a lot of silence from the crowd. This has been a problem for Choo since No Mercy and a problem for Rosemary after they dropped her push once she started working in NXT regularly. Spitfire are good in the ring, but they just haven’t clicked as characters. The Lars Fredrickson story arc didn’t really do much to build them up. Another negative from this match was that weird visual pinfall spot. It would have worked if Rosemary and Choo was going over, but it just made Rosemary look like an idiot for breaking her own fall. If she wanted to do more damage to Luna, she should have done it after the match (The whole confidence thing looks better on a powerhouse champion or monster heel).
Gia Miller tried to interview Frankie Kazarian, but he told Gia to go away because he was reading a Earl Hebner book to study before the world title match. Kazarian then bragged about winning the Call Your Shot trophy. Kazarian said tonight he’ll raise the hand of the “real TNA Champion”…
Separate shots were shown of Joe Hendry and Nic Nemeth arriving to the arena from earlier in the day…
Steve Maclin made his entrance to new entrance music. Maclin jumped Alexander on the entrance ramp and beat Josh up ringside. Hannifan noted that Icarus and Williams weren’t at the show due to “Travel Issues”…
3. “The Walking Weapon” Josh Alexander vs. Steve Maclin. Maclin dominated early on, but Alexander turned the tables. Alexander was able to use a ringpost assisted Figure Four. The bell rang once both men entered the ring. Maclin made a bit of a comeback, but Alexander ended that with a Backbreaker Bomb for a nearfall. A “walking wiener” chant ensued. Alexander hit Maclin with Kurt Angle style chained German Suplexes.
Maclin did a standing switch and took Alexander to Suplex City with about 10 or so Chained German Suplexes. Both men got to their knees and traded fatigued forearms. Maclin hit Alexander with a back elbow. Maclin put Alexander in the Tree of Woe. Josh did a situp to avoid a spear. Alexander hit Maclin with a dropping World’s Strongest Slam on the apron. Alexander hit Maclin with his signature crossbody dive to ringside.
The crowd went back to their “walking wiener” chant. Maclin dropped his weight to block a C4 Spike. Maclin hit Josh with an Angle Slam. Macliln hit Josh with a Superplex, chained into a Death Valley Driver for a nearfall. Alexander put Maclin in a Fireaman Carry. Maclin’s leg caught the referee. REF BUMP!!! Alexander kicked Maclin in the balls. A “wiener” chant ensued. Maclin zip tied Maclin. The crowd chanted “this is kinky”. Oh lord.
The referee backed down Alexander because the zip tie is illegal. The referee was about to release him, but Maclin used his head to trip Alexander into a Tree of Woe. Maclin gave Josh a spear. Still zip tied, Maclin hit Josh with a Suicide Dive. Josh attacked Macliln before he can get freed by the ref. Maclin continued to wrestle with the zip tie. Maclin hit Josh with a Knee Plus for a nearfall. Josh recovered and hit the zip tied Maclin with a Tombstone Pile Driver.
Zip tied Maclin kicked out at two. Maclin reversed a C4 with a backdrop. Maclin no sold a German Suplex and gave Josh a headbutt. Josh grapvined Maclin into a ankle lock. A “he can’t tap” chant ensued. Rehwoldt noted that the zip ties are preventing Maclin from getting to the bottom rope. Maclin passed out.
Josh Alexander defeated Steve Maclin via ref stoppage in 14:32.
Josh put his foot on the neck of the passed out Maclin to gloat…
John’s Thoughts: It’s WienerMania! Have the crowd been watching dat DanDaDan with all their various wiener chants? I kid, I kid. The crowd made themselves into a highlight of the match with their various wiener chants and unique other chants. The match was great! Steve Maclin put on one of his best performances in TNA. This was supposed to happen a year ago but got swapped into Maclin vs. Kushida due to Josh’s big injury. Josh was solid as he always is. Maclin put on an even better performance by wrestling most of the match with no hands, all while working smooth and safe.
Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt checked in on commentary where they hyped the upcoming Knockouts Title match. They then sent the show to the PCO vs. Matt Cardona hype package…
PCO made his entrance in a Ghostbusters jumpsuit with PCO replacing the ghost on the logo. PCO made his entrance with both his title belts. Hannifan noted that PCO is undefeated in Monster Ball matches (I still think of it as Abyss’s signature match though). Hannifan noted that PCO’s “wife” Steph De Lander is watching from home after successful neck surgery…
John’s Thoughts: No sense deprivation rooms? I always got a good chuckle out of those. That was probably a Scott D’Amore detail that he put in Monster Ball matches that he booked.
4. PCO vs. Matt Cardona in a Monster’s Ball Match for the TNA Digital Media Champion and International Wrestling Championship. Cardona beat up PCO at ringside, sending him into the steel steps. Cardona got in the camera and said he hopes Steph De Lander is seeing what he’s doing to her “husband”. PCO rallied a bit, but Cardona backdropped him on the steel steps Cardona then set up a house door into the corner. PCO recovered and backdropped Cardona through the door.
PCO went for a Suicide Dive, but Cardona swatted him midair with a trash can shot. Cardona then worked on PCO’s back with the trash can. Hannifan gave Abyss/Joseph Park a shoutout for making this signature match. Cardona brought another door and a few chairs into the ring. Cardona then got in the camera again and complained that management forgot to put his face on the front row collectable chairs. Cardona then built some sort of structure with the door and chairs, with some chairs sideways as to reduce surface area for more pain.
PCO recovered and went for 10 punches in the corner. Cardona escaped and gave PCO a Uranage through the door and chair structure. Cardona pulled out a black bag . Per usual, Cardona poured Thumbtacks to the mat. Cardona took a handful of tacks and smothered PCO’s face and mouth with the tags. Cardona hit PCO with a Broski Boot. PCO no-sold a few DDT’s to the thumbtacks. Cardona the shoved tack’s in PCO’s face one by one.
PCO no sold it and got to his feet. Ryder hit PCO with the Ruff Ryder Leg Lariat. PCO kicked out of Cardona’s finisher for the false finish. Cardona pulled out another door from under the ring. PCO tackled the door into Cardona. PCO then cracked the door in half off Cardona’s back. Cardona kicked out at two. PCO brought his own black back from under the ring. Like the last one, this also had thumbtacks which PCO poured on the mat.
Cardona recovered and gave PCO a low blow. Cardona found a green painted barbed wire baseball bat. Rehwoldt noted that he assumes the green was a Slimer reference. Cardona hit PCO a few times with the bat and tried to rake it on PCO’s head. PCO recovered and slammed Cardona on the thumbtacks. PCO hit Cardona with a PCO-sault for the win.
PCO defeated Matt Cardona via pinfall in 13:16 to retain the TNA Digital Media Championship and the International Wrestling Championship.
Hannifan sent the show to the Moose vs. Santana hype package…
John’s Thoughts: Hardcore matches are a dime a dozen in wrestling, but both men managed to make this one different. Most matches so far have been very different which makes watching this PPV worthwhile. They managed to make this match good without shedding a drop of blood (Though I still think blood would have enhanced the match like the Mike Santana vs. JDC hardcore match from a few months ago). Not sure why there were random Ghostbusters references, but I like Ghostbusters and didn’t mind the reference. Is Cardona just in for a cup of coffee again, because I wouldn’t mind if they find a find a way to somehow get him in the main title picture. PCO meanwhile, I hope they try to put him in a creative story. I was really hoping for that intriguing feud with Bully Ray which they pulled the plug on when Bully left.
Moose made his entrance with JDC. Mike Santana made his entrance through the crowd. Hannifan noted that Moose was the last pillar of the System that Santana has to knock down…
5. Mike Santana vs. Moose (w/Johnny Dango Curtis). Both men had dueling chants with Santana having a majority of the crowd support. Moose ducked to ringside. Santana chased him and gave Moose chops. Santana gave Moose an Irish Whip which moved the guardrail. Santana gave Moose a Mafia Kick at ringside. Moose recovered in the ring and gave Santana a front kick. Santana dumped Moose to ringside. Santana tried to hit Moose with a Suicide Dive, but JDC took the bullet for Moose. Moose power bombed Santana into the apron.
JDC tossed Santana into the steel steps when the Referee was distracted. Moose whipped Santana into the turnbuckle for a bit of a breather. Santana escaped a Power Bomb and sent Moose into the corner. Moose caught Santana off the cannonball and hit him with a Jackknife Power Bomb for a nearfall. A “f*ck The System” chant ensued. Moose gave Santana a chokeslam.
Hannifan noted that Moose has tied with a handful of TNA legends for 2nd most Bound for Glory appearances at 10 (Chris Sabin and Rhino share the record for number one). Santana acted defiant and rallied with hands. Moose blocked Spin the Block. Santana came right back with a rolling cutter. Moose rolled to ringside. Santana hit Moose and JDC with a top rope crossbody to ringside. A fan heckled Santana and Santana responded by saying “I ain’t no f*ckin’ Dog!”
Santana countered a power bomb into a rana. Santana hit Moose with a Asai Moonsault, TKO, and Claymore for a nearfall. Moose blocked Spin the Block. Santana gave Moose a Death Valley Driver into the turnbuckle. Santana hit Moose with a 450 for a good nearfall. Hannifan said that move reminded him of the LAX days. Hannifan also praised Santana for being one of the best tag team wrestlers in the world and how he changed his body in order to wrestle more of a heavyweight style.
Moose hit Santana with some sort of Superplex (didn’t look clean) for a nearfall. Hannifan noted that Moose couldn’t get Santana into his signature Go To Hell Sky High. Another “F*ck the System” chant ensued. Both men traded strikes on the apron. Santana yelled “F*ck You” and gave Moose a Yakuza Kick. The crowd chanted “what he said!”. Moose gave Santana a power bomb on the apron and rolled back in the ring.
Santana beat the ten count. JDC. Brought a chain to the ring with the referee trying to chase him out. JDC wrapped the chain around his fist. Santana ducked a chained punch and gave JDC Spin the Block. Moose hit Santana with the Spear. Santana kicked out at two for a nice false finish. Santana countered a spear with a rollup for a nearfall. Santana hit Moose with Spin the Block for the victory.
Mike Santana defeated Moose via pinfall in 13:49.
Santana posed over the fallen Moose. Rehwoldt sent the show to the Jordynne Grace vs. Masha Slamovich hype package…
John’s Thoughts: That might have been the most F bombs heard on a TNA show between the wrestlers and the crowd. A good match with the right finish to wrap up Santana’s conquest of The System (Though I wouldn’t mind a Moose vs. Santana hardcore match if they want to end on a dramatic note). TNA did a solid job keeping Santana out of the title picture while giving him a solid story and character development mechanism to help build him upon his return to TNA. I wouldn’t quite put Santana in the title picture as I think he deserves a marquee PPV to get his eventual PPV and not a missable TNA Plus show.
Entrances for the Knockouts Championship match aired, Masha Slamovich coming out to new EDM sounding entrance music. Jade Chung handled the formal in-ring championship introductions. Hannifan noted that Jordynne Grace has the best win-loss record in TNA in 2024….
6. Jordynne Grace vs. Masha Slamovich for the TNA Knockouts Championship. Both women started the match at a stalemate. Grace dominated the subsequent Test of Strength. Grace hit Masha with a shoulder tackle and Ataxia. Masha draped Grace on the ropes and hit her with a front kick. Masha caught Grace with a hooking Superkick. Marha hit Grace with a corkscrew Suicide Dive. Grace blocked a draping front kick.
Grace then kicked Masha in the leg. Grace hit Masha with a Triangle Double Stomp on the apron. Grace slammed Masha against the ringpost several times. Grace hit Masha with a rolling Death Valley Driver. Grace worked on Masha’s injured knee with methodical offense. Masha rallied back with kicks from her good leg for a nearfall. Masha hit Grace with a DDT into a Guillotine Choke. Grace recovered and hit Masha with a Jackhammer for a nearfall.
Grace whipped Masha into the corner and hit her with the World’s Strongest Slam. Masha dodged Grace’s Vader Bomb. Both women went to the top rope. Grace held to the ropes to block a Power Bomb. Masha went back up and caught Grace with a Frankensteiner. Masha hit Grace with the Snow Plow for the false finish nearfall. Masha peppered Grace in the back with overhead shots.
Grace kicked Masha’s injured leg. Grace hit Masha with a springboard crossbody for a nearfall. Masha kicked Grace a few times with her good leg. Masha hit Grace with a Spinning Heel Kick for a nearfall. A “this is wrestling” chant ensued. Grace countered Masha with a Tombstone German and Kryptonite Crush (Air Raid Crush) for a nearfall. Hannifan noted that ECW legend Jerry Lynn would be proud.
Masha recovered and dragged Grace to the apron, but Grace used the top rope to block a Suplex to ringside. Masha escaped a Kinniku Buster attempt and gave Grace a few knees. Masha hit Grace with a Burning Hammer for a nearfall. A “TNA” chant ensued. Masha rallied with right hands. Masha no sold a backfist. Masha hit Grace with a Savate Kick combo. Grace seamlessly countered a Savate Kick into a Kinniku Buster and Grace Driver for a nice false finish nearfall.

Masha escaped a Grace Driver attempt. Masha hit Grace with a Super Snow Plow and Pile Driver for the clean win.
Masha Slamovich defeated Jordynne Grace via pinfall in 12:42 to become the new TNA Knockouts Champion.
Masha was emotional after the match. Masha helped Grace to her feet and gave her a warm hug. Hannifan sent the show to the Nic Nemeth vs. Joe Hendry hype package…
John’s Thoughts: Wonderful Knockouts Title match which came off as a passing of the torch of sorts. This was a good make-good for Masha after eating those two losses to Grace following Masha’s undefeated streak in TNA. Masha was humanized in a negative way during her tag run so it’s cool seeing her dominant again. Beating Grace really means something because TNA has done such a good job building her a the most dominant wrestler in TNA. Because this felt like a passing of the torch moment, and maybe they do one more match; but I’m curious if Grace is WWE bound because WWE seems very interested in featuring her on their TV.
A Tale of the Tape grapic aired for Hendry and Nemeth…
Guest referee Frankie Kazarian made his entrance in a long sleeve Referee shirt and red scarf. He carried is Call Your Shot Trophy with him. The show then cut to the Gorilla Position where Ace Steel gave Joe Hendry a pep talk. Steel told Hendry to make the world believe. The show cut to a cinematic music video. The instrumentals were a mashup of Eminem’s Lose Yourself and Joe Hendry’s entrance theme. Back at the arena, a man in overalls and carrying a chainsaw had his back to the crowd.
Say his name, and he appears! I believe in Joe Hendry! Clap Clap! Hendry took off the overalls and made his entrance. Hendry soaked in “we believe” chants. The camera then cut back to the Gorilla Position and followed Nic nemeth on his way to the ring. TNA Champion Nic Nemeth made his entrance.
Jade Chung handled the formal in-ring championship introductions. The crowd gave Kazarian “Frankie sucks” chants. The crowd showered Nemeth with “f*ck Ohio” chants (damn). Rehwoldt did note that Kazarian can cash in his trophy during this match…
John’s Thoughts: So, Full Metal Mayhem ( is the show closing main event?
7. Nic Nemeth vs. Joe Hendry for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship with Frankie Kazarian as the Special Guest Referee. Hendry responded to an early armdrag with a kip up. Hendry then worked on Nemeth with wrist holds. The crowd sung Joe Hendry’s theme song in unison and in loud fashion. Nemeth hit Joe with a dropkick. Nemeth then did his hip wiggle dance. More “f*ck Ohio” chants ensued. Hendry deadlifted Nemeth and walked around the ring for a delayed Vertical Suplex. Nemeth recovered and hit Hendry with a neckbreaker.
Nemeth hit Hendry with his signature ten elbow drops for a nearfall. Nemeth went for a DDT, but Hendry lifted Nic into a Death Valley Driver. Hannifan noted that Hendry might be the strongest pound-for-pound wrestler in TNA currently. Hendry rallied with right hands on Nemeth. Hendry hit Nemeth with a Fallaway Slam and did a kip up. Hendry did his signature turn and led the crowd in a stomp stomp clap. Nemeth reversed the Standing Ovation into a Sleeper.
Hendry escaped the hold and gave Nemeth a Power Bomb for a nearfall. Nemeth escaped an ankle lock, but Nemeth rolled into a half crab. Nemeth got to the bottom rope for the break. Nemeth caught Hendry with a back elbow. Both men went to the top rope. Hendry hit Nemeth with a Super Fallaway Slam. Kazarian stopped his count seeing both men knocked out. Kazarian quickly ran to ringside to grab his trophy. Hendry snatched the trophy from Kaz and told him to call the match.
Kazarian said “don’t touch my trophy like that you mark!”. Nemeth hit Joe with a Fame Asser. Hendry kicked out at two off Kazarian’s fast count. Nemeth reversed a choke slam into a DDT for a nearfall. Hendry rolled through a crossbody and put Nemeth in a Fireman Carry. Hendry hit Nemeth with an Attitude Adjustment for a nearfall. Both men traded right hands. Hendry sent Nemeth to the apron with a Pump Kick.
Both men brawled on the apron. Hendry teetered after eating a Superkick. Hendry then caught Nemeth with a cutter to leave both men knocked out. Kazarian stopped his count again. Kazarian called out for a referee to call the match. An all black wearing, John [Bradshaw] Layfield entered the ring from the crowd and gave Kazarian a Clothesline from Hell. REF BUMP!?! Bradshaw then went to talk to Hendry.
Bradshaw hit Hendry with a Clothesline from Hell. Ryan Nemeth randomly showed up and ate a Clothesline from Hell from JBL. Nemeth recovered and hit Hendry with the Danger Zone (Zig Zag). A new referee had to run out to take a few seconds off Nemeth’s pin attempt. Joe Hendry kicked out at two once the new ref arrived. Hendry reversed Sweet Chin Music. Nemeth reversed the Standing Ovation. Nemeth hit Hendry with a Superkick and Danger Zone for the victory.
Nic Nemeth defeated Joe Hendry via pinfall in 15:13 to retain the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.
Tom Hannifan gave Nemeth the benefit of the doubt for not seeing JBL attack Joe Hendry, Kazarian, and Ryan Nemeth. Nemeth went to ringside to help his brother Ryan to his feet. Hannifan sent the show to highlights from the TNA Hall of Fame induction ceremony from earlier in the show…
John’s Thoughts: A good match with Kazarian adding to the match, doing a good job as the heel referee. The timing on the Call Your Shot moments were well done and even better was Hendry’s kickout out of Kazarian’s fast count. TNA actually did a good job misdirecting the viewers from the walking Checkov’s Gun in JBL. It felt like they were pivoting to Kazarian being the person that causes the wonk finish. JBL interfering on Nemeth’s behalf is consistent with JBL’s recent appearance during Nemeth’s PPV title defenses. I like the added layer of Nemeth having plausible deniability in the situation. I don’t know where they go, because attacking Ryan Nemeth makes it not look like JBL and Nemeth are aligned. Because it was a wonk finish, it was smart to not close the show on a cheap finish. They’ll definitely run this back with hopefull a clean finsh.
The show cut to TNA Director of Authority Santino Marella backstage. Santino congratulated Rhino and the late Bob Ryder for getting into the TNA Hall of Fame. The show then cut to a add for TNA’s next PPV, Genesis…
Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt checked in from commentary. Hannifan noted that Genesis is happening in January at Dallas, TX. Both men then ran through some upcoming TNA live events and tapings. They also plugged next week’s Impact being Halloween themed, featuring an appearance by El Hijo Del Vikingo…
A hype package aired for the Full Metal Mayhem Match (a.k.a. Tables, Ladders, and Stairs)…
The Hardy Boyz made their entrance to their world famous royalty-free entrance theme (Can we just give Matt and Jeff royalties for this theme? This Royalty free music was ingrained in most childhoods. Most of us couldn’t help but do da Jeff Hardy Dance when Jeff Hardy danced). ABC were out next. Eddie Edwards and Brian Myers were accompanied by Alisha Edwards to the stage before she headed to the back. The ring and most of the weapons at ringside were painted over with Jeff Hardy’s signature artwork…
John’s Thoughts: The Hardys really benefit off being able to carry over their famous royalty-free entrance music across promotions. Ticket sales also benefit from the nostalgia that theme invokes. Heck, I remember hearing that theme as a kid before the Hardys had it when I saw it during Power Rangers and Digimon commercials on Fox Kids. On another note. Got daaaamn! I know she’s a married woman, but Alisha looked bangin’ and slayin’ in that see-through attire. I’m kinda disappointed that she’s not going to be at ringside.
8. “The System” Eddie Edwards and Brian Myers vs. “ABC” Ace Austin and Chris Bey vs. “The Hardy Boyz” Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy in Full Metal Mayhem for the TNA Tag Team Titles. ABC put the boots to Myers while the Hardy’s put the boots to Eddie. Jeff hit both opponents with Poetry in Motion. Bey and Ace also did their own version of Poetry in Motion off Matt’s back. Bey hit The System with a flip dive. The Hardys dragged Eddie and Myers to the crowd area. ABC also assisted the Hardys in beating up The System. Jeff put Myers on a table.
Ace gave Myers a Frog Splash through the table. The Hardys put Eddie on a table. Matt Hardy went to the top rope and gave Eddie a leg drop through the table. In the ring, the Hardys hit Bey with the Plot Twist (assisted Twist of Fate). Ace knocked the ladder down when the Hardys went for the belts. ABC then swarmed both Hardys with kicks. Hannifan noted that the first TLC match was what made him a hardcore wrestling fan.
Jeff used a small ladder as a battering ram to knock down both ABC members. Jeff laid out a flat ladder. ABC recovered and suplexed Jeff on the ladder. Bey spotted a flat ladder while Ace climbed up. Jeff punched Bey which sent Ace falling. Matt set up a regular ladder while Jeff weaved the flat ladder inside of it to set up a rope to rope bridge. ABC pulled the Hardys down. Matt slammed Ace into the buckle while yelling Delete. Matt and Bey climbed up the ladder and brawled.
Ace and Jeff carried chairs up the bridge that was made. Jeff hit Bey with the chair with Ace hitting Matt to knock both men off. Matt and Jeff used the chairs to knock each others’ chairs away. Ace and Jeff then brawled up the ladder. Ace knocked himself and Jeff off with a headbutt. Eddie and Myers recovered and cleaned house. Myers set up a table at ringside. The crowd chanted “Edge’s Bitch” at Myers while he and Eddie were setting up tables at ringside.
The match hit the 15 minute mark. The crowd then chanted “F*ck the System” again. Eddie and Myers hit both Hardy Brothers with stereo Side Effects through two tables. Myers took down Ace with a Spear. Myers went for a Con Chair To on Ace, but Bey took away the chair and hit Myers and Eddie with it. Bey hit Myers with the assisted Cutter. Ace hit Myers with a Fold on the steel chair. Eddie recovered and hit Bey with a Blue Thunder Bomb.
Eddie went for the belt, but Bey woke the crowd up with a nice looking Springboard Cutter. Bey dragged a ladder that Ace was on top of to bring it to the center. Eddie dragged Ace off. Myers and Bey climbed up the ladder and traded hands. The match hit the 20 minute mark at this point. The System dragged away the ladder with Bey dangling with the belts. Myers climbed the ladder and gave Bey a spear while he was dangling in the air to recreate the classic spot from the original TLC match (The original was Edge spearing Jeff right?).
Eddie climbed to the top, but was knocked down by Matt Hardy with a chair. Matt wrapped a neck on the neck of Eddie and hit him with a Twist of Fate. Jeff hit Myers with a Twist of Fate in the ring and at ringside. Jeff pulled out a long ladder from under the ring. Jeff slipped, but recovered and hit Myers with a front dropkick. Jeff beat up and put Myers on a table. Jeff climbed up the story high ladder. Jeff gave Myers a Swanton Bomb through the table.
A “Holy shit” chant ensued 25 minutes into the match. Matt was about to make a play for the belt, but was hit in the back with a chair by Ace. Alisha Edwards ran out and knocked down the ladder that Ace was climbing. Matt Hardy showed up behind Alisha and hit her with a Twist of Fate. Equal opportunity, I guess?
Eddie hit Matt with “Kenny” the Kendo Stick. Matt and Jeff chucked chairs at Eddie when he went for the belt. Matt and Jeff power bombed Eddie through the tables set up at ringside. Matt and Jeff climbed to the top to retrieve the belts and become the new TNA Tag Champs.
The Hardy Boyz defeated The System and ABC in Full Metal Mayhem in 27:25 to become the new TNA Tag Team Champions.
The Hardy Brothers celebrated their title win with the crowd to close the show…
John’s Thoughts: While plodding at points, this was a nice feel-good way to close the show by invoking a sense of nostalgia. Hey, I rather take plodding over dangerous and career-threatening. That said, this match did have its share of insane stunts, so it was still crazy. Bonus points, Jeff Hardy didn’t kill himself (It’s easy to worry about people like him or Darby Allin who throw caution to the wind). The Hardys are actually having a great run in TNA and this already going better than their AEW run.
For one, they are drawing tickets with their throwback Hardy personas (Broken Matt kinda ran it’s course). For two, they are looking the healthiest that they’ve looked in years where in AEW they were walking around with everlasting limps. Part of that is they are working smarter and safer. It must have been a dream situation for the other two teams to be able to do a tribute to a match that probably had a huge impact on their wrestling aspirations. In retrospect, it was a good idea to close the show on the feel-good nostalgia finish over the wonky JBL interference.
Overall, this was a great Bound for Glory. I talked about how TNA didn’t make it feel like their “Biggest show of the year” with their weekly television. I thought they did a better job building up to Slammiversary as a big show (This has happened a few times in TNA’s history). On paper the card looked great. All the matches on this show delivered and are worth watching and all offered a different style of match for variety (to step back a second, the only match worth missing was the Women’s tag title match which had that weird self pin break by Rosemary). A huge assist goes to the Detroit crowd for being very engaged all night, throwing in a slew of F Bombs and unique chants that weren’t you usual “this is awesome” or “Fight Forever” like chants. The chant that cracked me up was the “walking wiener” chant. Good stuff. I’ll be by in a bit with my audio review for the Dot Net Members and Patreon Patrons.
haha, this review is great. Random Dan da Dan? I’m all for it
