CM Punk and Colt Cabana settle their lawsuit, Punk lashes out on social media

By Jason Powell, ProWrestling.net Editor (@prowrestlingnet)

CM Punk and Colt Cabana settled their legal issues without going to trial. The dispute was in regard to Cabana claiming that Punk didn’t make good on a promise to cover his legal expenses stemming from the defamation lawsuit that WWE physician Dr. Chris Amann filed against them (a jury sided with Punk and Cabana).

Despite the settlement, the former friends do not appear to have mended fences. Punk responded to a Twitter follower who praised Cabana and said that he “abides.” Punk responded: “Why’d he ask to settle then? I wanted it to go to trial! Play stupid games, win stupid prizes! Enjoy donating to the eventual ‘woe is me’ go fund me account.”

When the follower continued to defend Cabana, Punk delivered two additional rebuttal tweets: “HE SUED ME,” Punk wrote. “He wanted to end the dumb shit HE started? I asked to speak to him, he declined. I asked to enter mediation, he declined. I offered money, IT WASNT ENOUGH! I never wanted ANY of it. He’s as greedy as you are ignorant to who I am, and fooled by who he is… I loved the guy. Would’ve done anything for him. And the irony is, if he just would’ve asked for the money, I’d have given it to him. Instead he tried to extort me.”

Powell’s POV: I was hopeful that the settlement agreement was a sign of reconciliation, but that’s obviously not the case. Cabana has yet to address the settlement publicly as of this update.

  1. Built in feud for ROH if Punk is actually thinking about a comeback.
