Major League Wrestling issued a press release to announce that they will pay tribute to the late Gary Hart at their September 7 event in Dallas, Texas at NYTEX Sports Centre. Hart’s sons Jason and Chad will appear at the event. “I personally owe a debt of gratitude to Gary,” MLW CEO and founder Court Bauer stated in a press release. “Without Gary Hart’s presence in my life as a mentor, there is no Major League Wrestling today. It is long overdue that he be honored in the city he helped to put on the map in this great sport.” Read the full press release at MLW.com.
Powell’s POV: I don’t know if anyone has done more than Court Bauer to preserve the legacy of Gary Hart in the pro wrestling industry. Hart wrote a fantastic autobiography “Playboy Gary Hart: My Life in Wrestling” prior to his death on March 16, 2008. Unfortunately, the book had a limited printing run and thus copies of the book tend to be very expensive on the secondhand market.
The MLW War Chamber event will also feature Ross Von Erich, Marshall Von Erich, Tom Lawlor, and a partner of their choosing facing Contra Unit in an eight-man War Chamber match.
