WWE Live Event
Ottawa, Ontario at Canadian Tire Centre
Report by Dot Net reader Fireguy

The Canadian Tire Center was about half full for this house show.

Fans voted on what Wrestlemania match they wanted to rewatch. Ronda Rousey/Kurt Angle vs Triple H/Stephanie McMahon won over the IC match and the Smackdown Women’s Title match. The replay was very clipped.

1. Naomi, Becky Lynch, and Asuka beat Sonya Deville, Mandy Rose, and Lana. Asuka made Mandy Rose submit. Fun opener to start the show off, people were crazy for Naomi and Becky Lynch, crickets for Absolution and Lana. Tons of botches though.

2. Big Cass beat Tye Dillinger. Practically just a squash here as Tye Dillinger got his hope spots but Big Cass just man handled him around the ring. Big Cass was absolutely hated by the fans in attendance. Enzo Amore chants were crazy.

3. The Bludgeon Brothers defeated Rusev and English, The Usos, and “New Day” Big E and Kofi Kingston in a four-way to retain the Smackdown Tag Titles. Very fun match here as it broke out into absolute mayhem near the end, which is to be expected. Rusev Day was over big time (duh). Bludgeon Brothers stayed on the entrance ramp for the first bit of the match and waited for the best opportunity to take everyone out.

4. Shelton Benjamin defeated Sin Cara. It was a fun little match with Sin Cara hitting his usual stuff, fans were really into the lucha chants, very anti climatic ending.

There was a MizTV segment with guest Daniel Bryan. Miz called out Bryan and said they should make peace. Miz said the fans don’t want Bryan to punch him in the face. Daniel Bryan beat down Miz. I wasn’t expecting this at all on the show. This might be used in the future since there was cameramen at ringside for this. Very fun to see Miz and Bryan in person.

Intermission

5. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson defeated Sheamus and Cesaro. Probably the best match of the night by far. No botches and was very intense from start to finish. It was also a bit of a surprise finish.

6. Charlotte defeated Carmella by DQ in a Smackdown Women’s Championship match. Carmella retained her title. Lots of botches in this match due to Carmella. It was also very slow with Carmella just trying to avoid Charlotte for the better part of the match.

7. AJ Styles and Jeff Hardy defeated Samoa Joe and Shinsuke Nakamura. The fans were crazy for Hardy more than anyone else in this match. This was rather short for a main event, but Nakamura did a good job playing the heel here mocking AJ Styles throughout the match. Styles and Nakamura didn’t wrestle each other at all if I remember correctly.

Overall, this was a very enjoyable house show, the wrestlers obviously played it safe but the matches were still fun. It’s always fun when you got live. The only downside was the amount of botches. It was crazy. The wrestlers were probably all tired from the Greatest Royal Rumble and all the jet lag.
