WWE talent visit children in China, notes on the Shenzhen Bay Arena event

The following press release was issued by the Mission Hills Group to Prowrestling.net on Monday.

WWE Superstars Charlotte Flair, The Big E, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston took a break from preparations for the first-ever WWE live event in Shenzhen to spend time with children from a local charity.

The New Day trio of The Big E, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston – the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions – plus the ‘Queen’ of WWE Charlotte Flair joined a group of children and hundreds of adoring fans at Mission Hills Centreville to raise awareness of the Shenzhen Women and Children Development Foundation. The charity aims to help needy and disadvantaged children, 20 of whom aged nine to 12-years-old were invited to enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime experience with their WWE heroes.

Later that night local fan favorite John Cena™, WWE Champion™ Jinder Mahal and United States Champion™ AJ Styles thrilled thousands of WWE fans at the first-ever WWE live event in Southern China’s booming city of Shenzhen.

Delivering a unique, family-friendly blend of sport and entertainment combining spectacular in-ring action with dramatic entertainment, fans at WWE LIVE China also cheered the WWE live debut of BOA, from Beijing, who was recruited by WWE to a developmental contract following a tryout in Shanghai last summer. They also welcomed Tian Bing, the first Chinese signed to WWE’s developmental division.

The inaugural WWE LIVE China event at the Shenzhen Bay Arena featured an incredible four Championship title holders, with SmackDown Tag Team Champions The New Day and SmackDown Women’s Champion Natalya competing in spectacular matches.

The show capped an action-packed day for the WWE Superstars in Shenzhen, thanks to Mission Hills Group, an official partner of WWE LIVE China, and the Hard Rock Hotel Shenzhen, the official hotel for the WWE Superstars during their stay. They enjoyed a range of activities, including a driving competition at the Mission Hills Golf Academy, a fan meet-and-greet and even a cook-off with youngsters from Bromsgrove School Mission Hills.

“Mission Hills, the largest golf club in the world, is excited and proud to partner with the world’s biggest name in sports-entertainment, WWE,” said Tenniel Chu, Vice Chairman of Mission Hills Group. “We are proud to have worked together to bring the excitement and family-friendly entertainment of WWE LIVE to fans here in Shenzhen for the very first time.”
