Muhammad Ali dead at 74

wrestlingringMuhammad Ali died at age 74 on Friday. The boxing legend had been hospitalized in Phoenix, Arizona for respiratory complications in the days prior to his death. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s syndrome in 1984.

Powell’s POV: Ali fought Japanese pro wrestling legend Antonio Inoki in a famous boxer vs. wrestler match in 1976. He took part in an angle with Gorilla Monsoon, had another boxer vs. wrestler match with Kenny Jay, and made additional pro wrestling appearances to promote the fight with Inoki. Ali later worked as the special ringside referee for the original WrestleMania main event featuring Hulk Hogan and Mr. T vs. Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff.
