WWE is advertising their Saturday, November 25 live event as Starrcade for Greensboro, North Carolina at the Greensboro Coliseum. The Starrcade name was previously used by Jim Crockett Promotions and WCW as the biggest show of the year. The WWE version is a Smackdown house show with guest appearances by The Hardy Boyz, Rock-n-Roll Express, and Ricky Steamboat. The following matches are advertised for the event.

-Jinder Mahal vs. Shinsuke Nakamura in a cage match for the WWE Championshp.

-Natalya vs. Charlotte Flair in a cage match for the Smackdown Women’s Championship.

-AJ Styles vs. Baron Corbin vs. Rusev in a Triple Threat for the U.S. Championshp.

-New Day vs. The Usos for the Smackdown Tag Titles.

-Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens.

-Bobby Roode vs. Dolph Ziggler.

Powell’s POV: A cool concept for a live event. I suppose there’s nothing stopping WWE from turning this into a network special, but there is no indication of that being the case at this point. The original Starrcade event was held in the same venue on November 24, 1993 and was headlined by Harley Race vs. Ric Flair for the NWA Championship. Both legends have battled some health issues lately, but it would be a tremendous move to have them both appear if they are physically able to do so. It’s worth noting that a number of legends will be in town that weekend, as the annual WrestleCade event will be held 30 miles away in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on November 24-26.
