WWE Super ShowDown Kickoff Show
Aired live February 27, 2020 on WWE Network and social media
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia at Mohammed Abdu Arena

-The Kickoff Show was hosted by Charly Caruso, Scott Stanford(!), and David Otunga from the studio in Stamford, Connecticut. The hosts ran through the Super Showdown card.

-AJ Styles was interviewed by Byron Saxton. Styles said he didn’t care if he had to go through a thousand superstars to win the Tuwaiq Trophy. He also mentioned facing Aleister Black on Monday’s Raw.

-Paul Heyman delivered a promo in front of a black backdrop. He spoke about the perception that Ricochet doesn’t have a chance to beat Brock Lesnar. Heyman brought up the U.S. Olympic hockey team beating the Russians for the gold medal in 1980, Brock Lesnar beating Undertaker to end The Streak, and Buster Douglas beating Mike Tyson. After playing up the potential of a miracle, Heyman said Lesnar doesn’t play into your fantasies.

-The Miz and John Morrison cut a promo about their Smackdown Tag Title match against Big E and Kofi Kingston. Morrison spoke of it being a comeback, then Miz labeled it a rebirth.

-Naomi was interviewed by Saxton. She said it was an honor to be part of the historic women’s title match at Super ShowDown, and said it will be an even bigger honor to take the Smackdown Women’s Title from Bayley.

-The Street Profits delivered a promo about challenging Seth Rollins and Murphy. Angelo Dawkins continued to use the cornball “Monday Night Pariah and Murph the Smurf” insult, and Montez Ford still wants the smoke.

-A video package spotlighted The Fiend vs. Goldberg for the WWE Championship. The panel spent time discussing the match.

1. “The Viking Raiders” Erik and Ivar vs. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. The broadcast team was Michael Cole, Corey Graves, and Byron Saxton. Cole noted that it was much cooler with temps in the mid-sixties. Late in the match, Ivar went for a top rope moonsault, but Anderson avoided it. Gallows tagged in and then teamed up with Anderson to hit the Magic Killer on Ivar, which led to Gallows scoring the pin…

Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson beat The Viking Raiders in 10:00.

Powell’s POV: Gallows and Anderson own The Viking Raiders in Saudi Arabia for some reason. There are a lot of fans wearing face masks in the crowd, presumably due to Coronavirus concerns. Just when it seemed like the Saudi trip couldn’t be more stressful for some WWE wrestlers…

-An ad aired for John Cena returning on Friday’s Smackdown.

-The panel discussed the show and set up a video package on the Lesnar vs. Ricochet match. The video was narrated by Ricochet, who played up the “Why not me?” theme.

-The panel delivered final hype and closed out the Kickoff Show.
