ROH notes on new ROH Champion Rush, Bandido’s replacement in the Final Battle tournament and for the UK tour

By Jason Powell, ProWrestling.net Editor (@prowrestlingnet)

The following notes are from Kevin Eck’s blog at the Ring of Honor website. Read the full blog at ROHWrestling.com.

-Bandido is sidelined by a meniscus injury and has been replaced by PJ Black in the tournament that will determine the challenger for the ROH World Championship at Final Battle.

-Flamita will replace the injured Bandido on the UK tour later this month.

-ROH Champion Rush will return at the Glory By Honor event. Rush will defend the ROH Title at the October 12 in New Orleans against the winner of a 15-man battle royal that will be held earlier in the show.

-Lana Austin and Rampage Brown will have matches on the UK tour.

Powell’s POV: It’s interesting that ROH is still referring to Rush by his name. He is working as El Toro Blanco elsewhere because CMLL owns the rights to his name. I assume this means CMLL has given ROH permission to use the name despite firing Rush and Dragon Lee. It will be interesting to see if they transition into the new name or if they will continue to book him as Rush.

  1. I believe CMLL only own the rights to Rush’s name in Mexico.
