WWE has announced a WWE Smackville live special for WWE Network on Saturday, July 27 from Nashville, Tennessee’s Bridgestone Arena. The advertised matches are Kofi Kingston vs. Samoa Joe vs. Dolph Ziggler for the WWE Championship, Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Finn Balor for the Intercontinental Championship, and an Elias musical performance. Read the official announcement at WWE.com.

Powell’s POV: Why? I guess others will ask, why not? Anyway, I won’t be covering this one live, as I will be attending the National Wrestling Hall of Fame ceremony in Waterloo, Iowa that same evening. I will go out on a limb with my bold prediction that Nashville’s own “Double J” Jeff Jarrett will interrupt the Elias musical performance.

  1. I like the idea of televising more house shows. They’re already there. Why not?

  2. “Why not?” is exactly right. Ever since Roadblock and Live From MSG back in 2016 I thought they should do more televised “house shows”.

Although a random show in Nashville is pretty… random. I don’t know why they didn’t tape one of the Japan shows or something.
