WWE Extreme Rules on-site report: Notes on the live crowd’s reaction throughout the show

By Jason Powell, ProWrestling.net Editor (@prowrestlingnet)

Dot Net reader Steve Rice attended the WWE Extreme Rules event on Sunday in Philadelphia and sent the following report.

-The Finn Balor vs. Shinsuke Nakamura match for the Intercontinental Title had good back and forth action.

-Drew Gulak successfully defending the WWE Cruiserweight Title against Tony Nese had good crowd support for the hometown boy Gulak. For once, Vince McMahon didn’t have the home team lose.

-Up next was Undertaker and Roman Reigns vs. Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre. McIntyre got some cheers, though not real loud. Shane had decent heat. Roman got a half and half reaction. Undertaker received lots of cheers and his entrance is impressive in person.

-The Revival didn’t get all that much reaction either way. I like them. The Usos got a very good reaction.

-Aleister Black had a really cool video on the Jumbotron prior to his match. Cesaro got a good reaction and Black got a great entrance and the reaction seemed a little mixed. Cesaro mocking Black’s sitting in the ring drew laughs and cheers. The crowd warmed up to the very good match with “this is awesome “ chants.

-Bayley, Nikki Cross, and Alexa Bliss all got good reactions. Bayley’s entrance impressive in person.

-Bobby Lashley got little reaction and he’s not over at all. Braun Strowman got a pretty big pop. “This is awesome” and “ECW” chants broke out, but this wasn’t a smooth match. The crowd popped huge for the Braun’s powerslam, which was in the corner lower concourse, which made it tough to see.

-Heavy Machinery got a good pop heading into the Smackdown Tag Titles match. New Day came out to a big pop and there were lots of cheers Daniel Bryan and Rowan as well. Otis teasing a dive over top rope before changing his mind was funny.

-The crowd ate up Paul Heyman coming out for a promo.

-The things Ricochet can do are amazing. The crowd was not that lively for his match against AJ Styles early, but there were dueling chants as the action heated up.

-Kevin Owens got a nice pop for his match against Dolph Ziggler, who didn’t get much of a reaction.

-Samoa Joe came out to a lot of “Joe” chants. His promo before the match that was very good. Kofi Kingston came out to the big New Day reaction.

-It was main event time with Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch vs Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans. The crowd was not into Corbin either when he came out. Lacey got a little reaction. The crowd popped big for both Becky and Seth. “We want Lesnar” and “No we don’t” chants started up again. As a Cowboys fan I didn’t like the Eagles chants that were goin on.

-Brock Lesnar came out to huge reaction. It was the loudest I heard crowd all night.
