Big WWE name reportedly nearing in-ring return

By Jason Powell, Prowrestling.net Editor (@prowrestlingnet)

Dean Ambrose is expected to return to the ring within the next month, according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com. Ambrose has been sidelined since December 2017 when he underwent triceps tendon surgery.

Powell’s POV: The original WWE timeline called for a September return. WWE seems to add a little time to the projected recovery time and thus we’ve been leaving the door open for Ambrose to return before or at SummerSlam. Seth Rollins is feuding with Dolph Ziggler over the Intercontinental Championship and they seem to be telling the story that Drew McIntyre’s interference on behalf of Ziggler is the difference maker. As such, my speculation has been that Ambrose could end up in the corner of Rollins to counter McIntyre. That said, there’s no definitive word on what the company has in mind for Ambrose. They could still make money with The Shield reuniting again, but I would love to see Ambrose turn heel at some point if the company officials don’t intend to turn Roman Reigns.

  1. If he comes back he needs to screw someone over. Goof-ball face Ambrose isn’t any good.

    • Watch who you quote…. the darkness resides in that one Jason.

    • Completely disagree. Ambrose is a fun act. I think they just need to find the balance they had with him early in his Smackdown run, where he plays this role, but also turns up the dial in certain situations.
