WWE Live Event
Odessa, Texas at Odessa Coliseum
Report by Dot Net reader Mark Strobin
The arena was about 3/4 full. What was funny was that Aiden English was walking thru the concession area before the show began. No one seemed to care. That man can use some sun!
1. Bobby Roode defeated Baron Corbin and Jinder Mahal (w/Sunil Singh) in a Triple Threat. Lots of cheers for Roode and good heel heat for Mahal. Nothing for Corbin. Roode won with his finisher.
2. Breezango and Zack Ryder beat Mojo Rawley and two other wrestlers. Breezango and Ryder won. Nothing special. Charles Robinson was the ref. He must have forgotten his blond coloring since he was completely grey.
3. Dolph Ziggler beat Sin Cara. Dueling Ziggler chants at first. Real good match with lots of near falls. Ziggler turned the crowd against him. Sin Cara is quite the high flyer. Ziggler won with the Zigzag.
4. The Usos defeated Rusev & Aiden English and Shelton Benjamin & Chad Gable to retain the Smackdown Tag Titles. Lots of Rusev Day chants and Usos chants. This was the worst match of the night. Very slow and plodding.
5. Bludgeon Brothers defeated The Ascension. Shocking outcome, right? A squash match that lasted maybe a minute. The Ascension didn’t earn their pay in this match!
6. Charlotte fought Ruby Riott (w/Sonya Deville, Mandy Rose) to a no-contest. After a few minutes Charlotte got the figure four on Ruby and the rest of the Riott squad interfered (shocking again, right?), Becky Lynch and Naomi made the save then it became a six women tag match.
7. Charlotte, Becky Lynch, and Naomi defeated Ruby Riott, Sonya Deville, and Mandy Rose. The team of Charlotte/Becky/Naomi won with Charlotte putting the Figure 8 on Ruby. Charlotte was a big hit with the crowd.
8. Randy Orton and Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn in an Odessa Street Fight. Lots of cheers for the faces. Well, since I didn’t see any guns or knives it wasn’t really an “Odessa Street fight” but there was the usual montage of chairs…a table…and of course a kendo stick. The faces won as Orton RKO’d Sami and then held him up for Nakamura’s kinshasa. A fun match and everyone went home happy.
Most heat: Mahal and the team of KO and Sami
Biggest cheers: Charlotte and the team of Orton and Nakamura.
Best match: Tie between Sin Cara vs. Ziggler and the main event.
Worst match: The Triple Threat tag team championship match (by a long shot).
