WWE wrestler Rich Swann was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with battery as well as kidnapping/false imprisonment in Gainesville, Florida. Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com obtained a copy of the police report, which states that Swann and wife Vannarah Riggs, who wrestles as Su Yung, got into an argument regarding a match she had on Saturday.
Riggs exited the car that Swann was driving, and Swann grabbed her by the neck, leading to Riggs screaming for help and then beating on the car window and trying to exit the car again once he had her back inside. Swann was pulled over and arrested a short time later. View Swann’s mugshot at Florida.arrests.org.
Powell’s POV: Swann denied getting physical with Riggs despite the eye witness reports. He remains jailed in Alachua County as of this update. Swann is scheduled to face Drew Gulak in a No. 1 contenders match on Raw on Monday. WWE has yet to comment on his status. It seems likely that he will be suspended at the very least given the WWE Domestic Abuse Policy, which reads as follows: “Upon arrest for such misconduct, a WWE talent will be immediately suspended. Upon conviction for such misconduct, a WWE talent will be immediately terminated.”
Update: WWE suspended Swann on Sunday and issued the following statement to Prowrestling.net: “WWE has zero tolerance for matters involving domestic violence, and per our policy, Rich Swann has been suspended indefinitely following his arrest.”
