Referees Brian Hebner and Robert King have announced their departures from Impact Wrestling. Hebner announced that he asked for his release and it was granted by the company. Meanwhile, King stated on Twitter that he opted to move on because he did not believe he would be signed to a contract.
Powell’s POV: Hebner had a long run with the company and did a good job as the senior official. Meanwhile, there’s no update on his father Earl Hebner’s status with the company. King is likely making the right call, as it seems unlikely that the company will be flying in referees to their shows in Canada. While nothing is official, there continues to be a lot of talk that Impact will move its operations north of the border permanently in 2018.
Wanted to let everyone know that I have asked & been granted my release from @IMPACTWRESTLING ! Thanks to my locker room, Ur the best! #123
