WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross updated the blog section of JRsbarbq.com. The following items are among the highlights. To order J.R.’s BBQ products, visit WWEShop.com.
–Ross on Extreme Rules: “Monday Night Raw is the final broadcast before WWE Extreme Rules so one should expect a ‘hot’ show this week for sure. Extreme Rules is a challenging PPV for WWE to produce as many of the stipulations and matches have historically been bouts that at times feature ‘blood’ for dramatic affect. In the PG world of WWE, blood is a rarity and while I am not endorsing massive and wide spread use but utilized sporadically in some theatrical manner could be a positive based on this show’s theme.”
Powell’s POV: WWE’s use of fake blood worked nicely when Roman Reigns had his head slammed into the broadcast table repeatedly. Using the fake blood gives the company the desired effect without blading, which Vince McMahon has labeled barbaric.
–Ross on Adam Rose: “It’s a head scratcher that some are declaring that Adam Rose’s professional life is essentially over since his second WWE Wellness Policy violation that was followed by his arrest for domestic violence regarding an incident with his wife. Our society loves to forgive those who show a legitimate desire to right their wrongs and Adam Rose has the opportunity to do just that. While Rose’s WWE career is likely history that certainty doesn’t mean that his life is history. Rose’s issues with his family including his special needs son are much more significant than is a WWE career or career with anyone.”
Powell’s POV: It’s telling that the former head of WWE talent relations believes Rose’s WWE run “is likely history.” I don’t think that should surprise anyone at this point. I hope things work out for Rose and his family.
–Ross on “Mr. Wrestling 2” Johnny Walker: “Get well wishes to the great, Johnny Walker aka Mr Wrestling 2 who is awaiting aneurysm surgery. It was my idea back in the day to turn “2” heel in Mid South Wrestling on Magnum TA that seemed to work well. “2” made a living out of selling, perfecting the art of being a masked man and above all else his ‘Million Dollar Knee Lift.’ Great promo guy too who had terrific, organic passion/delivery.”
Powell’s POV: Here’s wishing the 81 year-old legend the very best with this surgery.
