Marty Scurll delivered a promo from a backstage area. He said it’s funny how life has a habit of letting you down. He said he’s on the top of the wrestling world and yet all he feels is frustration. Scurll said he doesn’t need to hide anything and Bandido would find out why later in the show… [C]

The hosts spoke about the recent Kenny King and Rhett Titus drama. A promo aired of Titus speaking from his home and admitting his mind might not be in the right place. Titus questioned what would happen if he treated every match like it was his his last…
1. Rhett Titus vs. Shaheem Ali. The match was taped in Atlanta and the broadcast team was Riccaboni and Caprice Coleman. Titus performed a cross body block for a two count heading into a commercial break. [C]
Titus catapulted Ali from the apron into a suplex for a near fall. Ali came back with chops that Titus no-sold. A short time later, Ali caught Titus going for a pescado and suplexed him on the mat at ringside. Back inside the ring, Titus looked at his family’s initials on his wrist tape and then blasted Ali with a kick and scored the pin…
Rhett Titus defeated Shaheem Ali.
Powell’s POV: It’s nice that we’re getting full length matches on the show rather than just all brief promos and highlights before a single full length match. The Titus storyline hasn’t really hooked me yet, but they tipped off the outcome by focusing entirely on him going into the match. Oh, and here’s my near weekly gripe that ROH doesn’t do enough with the Coast 2 Coast tag team.
A live events video aired to promote upcoming shows…
Backstage, ROH Champion Matt Taven said it was a year ago when Rush beat him in a hair vs. hair match and shaved his head. Taven said it lit a fire under him that led him to the ROH Championship. Taven said he should probably thank Rush because he wouldn’t be where he’s at today without him. Taven closed by saying nothing happens unless he says so because he’s Matt Taven… [C]
The hosts announced Bandido and Mark Haskins vs. Marty Scurll and Brody King for next week. They also set up this week’s main event and said it was the first singles meeting between Scurll and Bandido… Ring entrances for the match took place…
2. Marty Scurll vs. Bandido. The wrestlers shook hands before the opening bell. They went to commercial shortly thereafter. [C] Bandido sent Scurll to ringside and performed a flip dive going into the final break. [C]
Here’s my review of the remainder of the match from when it first aired on the Honor Club stream. Late in the match, Bandido hit a GTS for a near fall. Bandido followed up a short time later with a standing moonsault for another two count. The wrestlers ended up on the top rope and Bandido performed his impressive fallaway slam into a moonsault for a loud round of “holy shit” chants. Both men sold on the mat for a moment, then Scurll applied his chicken wing. Bandido rolled onto him for a two count. Moments later, Scurll hit Black Plague and scored the pin.
Marty Scurll defeated Bandido.
The show ended shortly after the finish. Here’s what took place afterward via the HonorClub stream: Scurll indicated that they could wrestle again. Fans chanted “one more time.” Scurll and Bandido shook hands and hugged. Scurll walked over to Riccaboni and said, “That right there is what Ring of Honor is all about”…
Powell’s POV: I’m not really sure why this match took place on a television taping without much build when it could have been saved for a bigger event. That said, it made for a good television main event. It was somewhat surprising to see Scurll get the win given that he could leave the company when his deal expires in November, and because Bandido has been the most well received wrestler the company signed after the AEW departures. Overall, this show was easier to watch thanks to having two full length matches, but I’m still not a fan of the new format. I get that people weren’t going to the television tapings. But rather than give in and scrap the old format, I wish the company would have found a way to make their tapings better. I will be by later today with my weekly ROH Wrestling audio review.
