WWE Live Event
New York, New York at Madison Square Garden
Report by Dot Net Member Don Murphy

Mike Rome and Byron Saxton served as hosts of the show. Byron isn’t any less of a dork live. Thank God I don’t have to listen to him.

1. Shinsuke Nakamura over Dolph Ziggler in 14:00. Great opener. Very competitive. Nakamura won with a superkick. The crowd was very energized.

2. R-Truth defeated Goldust in 6:00. Short but fun match. The crowd was into it. Truth won with spin kick.

3. Neville defeated Cedric Alexander in 9:00 retain the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. Neville had his feet on the ropes to get the pinfall. A fun, energetic spot fest.

4. Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins defeated Samoa Joe and The Miz in 15:00. There was a fun Miz heel promo in the beginning with him heeling on the Knicks signing Tim Hardaway Jr. Maryse was ejected mid match. Ambrose pinned Miz after hitting Dirty Deeds.

5. AJ Styles defeated Kevin Owens to win the U.S. Title in 16:00. The crowd was stunned because this is a house show. Styles won with a Phenomenal Forearm. We were expecting a Dusty Finish so while the crowd erupted, it was cautious excitement.

Intermission

6. Bayley, Sasha Banks, and Mickie James defeated Nia Jax, Emma, and Alexa Bliss in 10:00. Emma tapped to the Bank Statement. Solid. But it was coming out of intermission so not everyone was back. Plus, the crowd was still coming down from AJ winning the U.S. Championship.

7. Finn Balor defeated Karl Anderson in 1:30. A quick squash with the Coup de Grace.

8. Sheamus and Cesaro defeated Matt and Jeff Hardy in 10:00 to retain the Raw Tag Titles. A short match to rest them for Sunday’s Iron Man match. The crowd was up again for this match. Jeff hit a Swanton on Sheamus only to have Cesaro roll him up for the pin.

9. Roman Reigns defeated Bray Wyatt in 10:00. Reigns received his typical negative reaction from the NY crowd. This was interesting. He came out to loud boos, during the match the “Let’s Go Roman” chant was louder than the “Roman Sucks” chant. You can tell that the ones cheering for Reigns are women and children, but they overtook the men. The crowd was hot though and this is after three hours.

Braun Strowman came out after the match to a huge pop. Strowman and Reigns brawled and Strowman laid out Roman with powerslam. Cedric Alexander came out and was laid out, same for R-Truth. Seth Rollins came out. Wyatt attacked Rollins. Roman saved Seth, and then they cleared the ring of Bray and Braun. There was a chant for Dean Ambrose and then for The Shield while Reigns and Rollins were in the ring. Rollins said he had good news and bad news. The bad news was that Ambrose wasn’t there and was 25 deep at the bar. The good news was that they heard us. This closed the show.
