AEW Dynamite/Collision (Dynamite episode 367, Collision episode 166)
October 14, 2026, in Cleveland, Ohio, at the Wolstein Center
Simulcast live on TBS and HBO Max
[Hour One] The broadcast team of Excalibur, Walker Stewart, and Tony Schiavone checked in from their desk at ringside… Ring announcer Justin Roberts delivered the introductions for the opening match, and Renee Paquette checked in from ringside with some comments between the introductions…
1. Jon Moxley, Gabe Kidd, and Daniel Garcia (w/Marina Shafir) vs. Wardlow, Mark Davis, and Jake Doyle in a trios match. At roughly 6:00, Wardlow set up Garcia for a powerbomb, but Garcia countered into a Dragon Tamer. Davis and Doyle broke it up, and the teams fought heading into a picture-in-picture break. [C]
Garcia teased doing his dance. Doyle charged, Garcia ducked, and then Garcia put him down with a clothesline. Moxley and Davis both tagged in and traded blows while Stewart noted that it was a preview of the AEW Continental Championship at Saturday’s WrestleDream pay-per-view.
Moxley, Kidd, and Garcia took turns hitting Davis in a corner of the ring. Shafir snuck in while the referee was distracted and also took a shot at Davis. Garcia put Davis in the Dragon Tamer while Moxley hit Davis with a Stomp. Moxley covered Davis, but Wardlow and Doyle broke up the pin. Moments later, Moxley and Davis ended up alone in the ring. Davis hit Moxley with a lariat and a piledriver and then pinned him…
Wardlow, Mark Davis, and Jake Doyle defeated Jon Moxley, Gabe Kidd, and Daniel Garcia in a trios match in 16:05.
Excalibur hyped Adam Copeland vs. Josh Alexander in a qualifying match for after the break… [C]
Powell’s POV: I was worried when Wardlow and Doyle had to break up the pin when Moxley covered Davis, but they got it right by having Davis pin Moxley heading into their title match on Saturday. On a side note, WrestleTix listed the venue as being set up for 3,079, with 2,771 tickets distributed. The total number of seats on the map is 13,253. The last time AEW ran the venue, 3,049 tickets were distributed for the August 6, 2025, edition of Dynamite.
Adam Copeland made his entrance. The fans sang his entrance theme after it stopped playing. Josh Alexander made his entrance…
2. Adam Copeland vs. Josh Alexander in a Clockwork Carnage qualifying match. Stewart said Alexander grew up idolizing Copeland. Copeland went for a baseball slide kick, but Alexander avoided it and then pulled him to the floor. Alexander grabbed Copeland’s right leg, placed it on the apron, and hit it. Alexander followed up by picking up Copeland and dropping the bad leg on the ring steps before a PIP break. [C]
Copeland put Alexander down with a DDT. Copeland went for a spear, but Alexander stuffed it. Alexander performed two suplexes. When Alexander went for a third, Copeland tried to hold on to the turnbuckle pad, but he pulled it off while Alexander hit the move. Moments later, Copeland hit the exposed turnbuckle, and then Alexander speared him f before covering him for a good near fall.
Copeland came back with a slingshot cutter. Copeland went up top, but Alexander cut him off and crotched him on the top turnbuckle. Alexander went for a superplex, but Copeland slipped under him and put him in the electric chair position before dropping him face-first on the exposed turnbuckle. Copeland speared and pinned Alexander…
Adam Copeland defeated Josh Alexander in 11:15 a Clockwork Carnage qualifying match.
The updated graphic showed Will Ospreay defending the AEW World Championship against Samoa Joe, Mike Bailey, and Adam Copeland with four open spots remaining.
Copeland got the mic and said the last few weeks were difficult. Copeland said Christian Cage was thrown into a ladder, which resulted in three broken ribs, one of the ribs broken in three places, and a collapsed lung. Copeland said Christian continued the match and did it for the fans.
Copeland said Christian’s injury made him think about things. Copeland announced that 2027 will be his final year in pro wrestling. Copeland said that’s why he has to go for the AEW World Championship.
Don Callis’s synth noise played, and then he and Brian Cage walked out. Callis said he was sorry to interrupt Copeland’s pity party. Callis stood on the apron and said Copeland may have won the battle tonight, but he always wins the war. Callis said he didn’t like Copeland’s chances of seeing 2027, nor even Copeland seeing Clockwork Carnage on Saturday.
Kevin Knight showed up and hit Copeland from behind. Kyle Fletcher and Lance Archer also entered the ring. Cage performed an F5 on Copeland.
Konosuke Takeshita, Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong, and Kyle O’Reilly came out, which sent the heels scurrying to the floor. Takeshita checked on Copeland…
Powell’s POV: I hope that Copeland’s announcement that 2027 will be his final year in pro wrestling won’t be forgotten like Jeff Jarrett’s retirement announcement seemed to be. Does this make Toronto the heavy favorite to host the 2027 WrestleDream event? Here’s wishing Christian the best in his recovery from what sounds like an insanely painful injury.
Renee Paquette narrated a video package regarding the rules of the Clockwork Carnage match. She noted that no outside interference is allowed…
3. Konosuke Takeshita vs. Brian Cage in a Clockwork Carnage qualifying match. Cage hit Takeshita with an early flip dive from the ring to the floor. Cage ran Takeshita into the barricade. Back in the ring, Cage picked up a near fall before a break. [C]
Cage performed a 619, but Takeshita came right back with a Blue Thunder Bomb for a near fall. Takeshita hit a sit-out powerbomb for another near fall. Excalibur noted that the WrestleDream countdown special would air after tonight’s three-hour block. Takeshita and Cage threw simultaneous clotheslines at one another. Takeshita went for a knee strike that Cage avoided, causing Takeshita to crash into the corner.
[Hour Two] Takeshita came right back with Raging Fire, but he sold his knee by struggling and being unable to go for the pin. Cage put Takeshita down with a lariat and covered him for a near fall. Cage went for a Drill Claw, but Takeshita countered with a Dragon Sleeper. Cage powered out of it, but Takeshita drilled him with a knee. Takeshita reapplied the Dragon Sleeper and hooked one of Cage’s arms behind his back, which caused Cage to tap out…
Konosuke Takeshita defeated Brian Cage in 13:00 in a Clockwork Carnage qualifying match.
Powell’s POV: They tried to create suspense, but there was no reason to think that Takeshita would lose this match.
Renee Paquette spoke with “the new United Empire” AEW World Champion Will Ospreay, AEW Women’s Tag Team Champions Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor, AEW National Champion Andrade El Idolo, and Mike Bailey. They all took turns talking, and then Ospreay had them put their hands together for a cheer…
Tony Schiavone stood on the stage and introduced “FTR” Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler. Stokely Hathaway walked out using a single crutch to sell his big ladder match bump. Harwood said he and Wheeler beat The Young Bucks in three out of five matches. He questioned how they weren’t the AEW Tag Team Champions, and then called out the Bucks.
“The Motor City Machine Guns” Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin came out instead. Sabin said he and Shelley respect FTR. Shelley questioned what would happen if he and Sabin beat FTR in three out of five matches. The Guns called for a best-of-five series and for the first match to take place tonight.
Hathaway shot down the match happening tonight, but he and FTR agreed to the series and said it would start at WrestleDream. The teams shook hands…
Powell’s POV: Count me in for the best-of-five series, which looks outstanding on paper.
Hangman Page, Bandido, and Brody King delivered a backstage promo. Page complained about Swerve Strickland starting a trios team after he did. King said that whatever Swerve is doing is clearly working. He said they need Page’s head in the right place if they have a chance to win the best-of-three-falls match for the AEW Trios Titles at WrestleDream. Bandido said they will take the belts and honor from Swerve, Kofi, and Austin Creed…
Myron Reed made his entrance. Dezmond Xavier and Zachary Wentz accompanied Reed on the stage, but they did not go to the ring. Kazuchika Okada’s entrance followed…
4. Kazuchika Okada vs. Myron Reed in a Clockwork Carnage qualifying match for the AEW International Championship. Okada performed an early flapjack. A short time later, Okada performed a neckbreaker over his head before a PIP break. [C]
Reed performed a Draping DDT with the barricade. Reed performed a 450 from the ring steps onto Okada on the floor. He got Okada back inside the ring and performed another 450 splash, but Okada put his knees up. Reed came back with a Poison Rana that Okada took awkwardly. Reed went for another 450, but Okada avoided it. Okada hit the Rainmaker and got the three count…
Kazuchika Okada defeated Myron Reed to qualify for the Clockwork Carnage match and retain the AEW International Championship.
Powell’s POV: Another good match with no mystery regarding the outcome, regardless of how hard they tried to create suspense.
An MJF video package aired. The narrator touted MJF finishing first in the PWI 500 and being AEW’s top draw…
Kofi, Austin Creed, and Prince Nana checked in from backstage. Kofi and Creed wondered where Swerve Strickland was. Nana said he tried to tell them all day that Swerve had important family business. Nana said Swerve sent one of his good friends to replace him for the night.
Comedian Mojo Brookzz greeted Kofi and Creed after being introduced by Nana. Brookzz said he wanted to jump off the top rope, hit someone with a chair, and make them bleed. Kofi and Creed asked who he wanted to do this to, and he identified Brody King.
Kofi, Creed, Nana, and Brookzz made their entrance. Nana asked Brookzz if he remembered what he told him backstage. Brookzz said he had it. He asked if they could hear the people screaming his name, which led to some boos. Brookzz hyped WrestleDream and the AEW Trios Title match.
Kofi said they know exactly how good Hangman Page, Bandido, and Brody King are. He said Bandido beat him and he had no excuses for it. Creed said they wanted the AEW Trios Title match to be best of three falls so they can find out who the best team is. He said anybody can get lucky once. Creed said Page would be better off not letting his personal issues with Swerve turn into professional issues with his friends… [C]
Powell’s POV: Mojo is hilarious, but this live crowd seemed unfamiliar with him. His crowd work comedy is all over YouTube and social media. I loved his first Netflix special that came out earlier this month.
Entrances for the women’s trios match took place. Renee Paquette checked in from ringside…
5. AEW Women’s Champion Mercedes Mone, Megan Bayne, and Lena Kross vs. Thekla, Julia Hart, and Skye Blue in a trios match. Mone wore her face shield. Mone, Bayne, and Kross had their opponents down heading into a PIP break. [C]
Late in the match, Mone tried to hit Thekla with her title belt, but she avoided it. Hart blew black mist into the eyes of Kross. Hart and Sky superkicked Bayne off the apron. Thekla hit the Stomp on Kross and then pinned her…
Thekla, Julia Hart, and Skye Blue beat Mercedes Mone, Megan Bayne, and Lena Kross in roughly 11:15 in a trios match.
Excalibur hyped the tag team match for after the break… [C]
Powell’s POV: I hoped this match would make Thekla look strong and establish her as the babyface heading into her AEW Women’s Championship match on Saturday. Nope, instead we got a weak black mist finish. Does the black mist still have powers that turn people evil, or did AEW stop that silliness?
6. AEW World Champion Will Ospreay and AEW National Champion Andrade El Idolo vs. Samoa Joe and Tommaso Ciampa. Ospreay and Andrade shook hands and hugged before the match.
[Hour Three] Andrade posed for a selfie with a woman in the front row before a PIP break. [C]
Ciampa caught Ospreay with a knee strike to the head. Joe checked in and worked over Ospreay, then set up for a Muscle Buster, but Ospreay fought back. Ospreay went for an OsCutter, but Joe casually stepped aside while Ospreay crashed to the mat.
Andrade tagged in moments later. Ciampa DDT’d Andrade onto one of the title belts while the referee was distracted. Joe put Ciampa in the Coquina Clutch for the win…
Samoa Joe and Tommaso Ciampa beat Will Ospreay and Andrade El Idolo in 14:10.
After the match, Joe and Ciampa held the title belts. Joe reached through the ropes and handed the AEW World Championship to Ospreay, who was annoyed. Excalibur announced Andrade vs. Ciampa for the AEW National Championship at WrestleDream. Excalibur closed the Dynamite portion of the three-hour block…
Powell’s POV: The right team went over since Joe and Ciampa will be challenging for the titles held by Ospreay and Andrade on Saturday. I’m fine with Ospreay’s character having some friends, but launching a U.S. version of United Empire does nothing for me.
Collision picked up where Dynamite left off, with the heels heading to the back while Ospreay helped Andrade leave the ring…
Backstage, Renee Paquette asked Jon Moxley about his loss earlier in the show. Moxley threw a tantrum by launching a chair at the wall, slamming a board, tossing a crate, and then beating it and the chair with a pipe. Moxley let out a pained yell.
Paquette went into wife mode by squatting down next to Moxley, putting her hand on his shoulder, and asking what was happening. Moxley said there was a great deal of pain. She asked what kind of pain he was in. Moxley said he wasn’t sure if he could tell the difference anymore.
Marina Shafir entered the picture and squatted next to Moxley. “Eyes up, lock in, the only way out is through,” Shafir said. She asked if Moxley understood her. He said yes and then patted his wife’s leg. Paquette and Shafir walked away together while Moxley headed away with Wheeler Yuta, Gabe Kidd, and Daniel Garcia…
Powell’s POV: I let out the same agonized scream when the Minnesota Vikings lose. Fortunately, it’s been a while.
Ricochet made his entrance and was joined on the stage by Toa Liona and Bishop Kaun, but they did not go to the ring with him. Ace Austin made his entrance…
6. Ricochet vs. Ace Austin in a Clockwork Carnage qualifying match. Austin had Ricochet behind him and started to run the ropes, but Ricochet followed and shoved him through the ropes to the floor. Ricochet dove over the top rope onto Austin at ringside before a PIP break. [C]
Austin picked up a near fall, but Ricochet came right back with a headbutt. Ricochet followed up with a Spirit Gun and scored the pin…
Ricochet beat Ace Austin in roughly 10:30 to qualify for the Clockwork Carnage match.
Toa Liona and Bishop Kaun came out to celebrate with Ricochet…
Powell’s POV: Same predictable outcome, different qualifying match.
Renee Paquette was going to conduct an interview with the Young Bucks and their WrestleDream challengers, Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight, but the Bucks weren’t there. Don Callis said they weren’t coming and then sat down on one of their chairs.
Fletcher and Knight played up the idea that it would be easy for them to beat the Bucks. Knight said that as great as they are individually, they are better as a team. Knight said he’s like Michael Jordan while Fletcher is like Scottie Pippen, and he’s like Shaquille O’Neal to Fletcher’s Kobe Bryant. Fletcher acted like he didn’t get the NBA references. Knight said he’d explain it later, then said that Callis was their Phil Jackson. Callis said the Bucks have been a tag team a long time, but he managed them and knows all of their secrets and medical issues.
Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson entered the picture by superkicking Fletcher and Knight out of their chairs. Callis ran away. Matt told Paquette they were sorry about running a little late for the interview. He asked Paquette to tell “these pricks” that they would be on time for the AEW Tag Team Title match on Saturday…
Justin Roberts stood at ringside and read from a piece of paper that said the fans were required to stand and cheer for the immensely good-looking, 21-year-old prodigy. Nick Wayne made his entrance in non-wrestling attire. A still shot of Wayne standing over Chris Jericho after beating him was shown on the big screen.
“Nick Wayne beat Chris Jericho,” Wayne said. Pyro shot off. Wayne repeated himself, and more pyro shot off. Wayne said it felt damn good. A few fans chanted “one more time.” Wayne spoke over them while saying the line again, which triggered more pyro.
Chris Jericho made his entrance and joined Wayne in the ring. Wayne said Cleveland needed a mental reminder of just how important and legendary his win over Jericho was in France. The video package aired on the big screen. Wayne mouthed that it was beautiful and then asked Jericho what he thought.
Jericho said Wayne left some things out of the video. He said he knew Wayne was going to do this because he has friends in the editing bay. Jericho played a brief video that included footage of Wayne hitting him with a low blow before beating him.
Jericho said Wayne used a low blow, but he did beat him. Jericho said they’re 1-1 against one another and called for the rubber match to happen at WrestleDream. Wayne agreed to the match under the condition that when he wins, Jericho has to apologize to his face. Jericho questioned what he had to apologize for. Wayne said Jericho didn’t take him seriously and called him a douchebag.
Jericho accepted the terms, but warned Wayne that he still had some lessons that Wayne needed to learn. Jericho offered a handshake that Wayne accepted. Wayne recalled Jericho saying he had two reasons for coming out, and questioned what the second one was. Jericho said he showed Wayne the video so he could do this… Jericho kicked Wayne in the balls and said, “I’ll see you Saturday, kid”… [C]
Backstage, Renee Paquette interviewed Samoa Joe and Tommaso Ciampa about their WrestleDream matches. Ciampa spoke of how he’s gotten the better of Andrade twice already. Joe said he gave the fans a preview of the future. He said every competitor in the Clockwork Carnage would be choked out. Joe said that the other Clockwork Carnage entrants were all targets…
7. Persephone and Britt Baker vs. Dani Luna and Hyan. The entrances were televised. Baker waved a Pittsburgh Steelers’ Terrible Towel to taunt the Cleveland (Browns) fans, but it didn’t get much of a reaction. Stewart explained the significance of the Terrible Towel for non-NFL fans.
Persephone put Hyan down with a backbreaker and then drilled her with a dropkick. Persephone knocked Luna off the apron while Baker performed a neckbreaker on Hyan before a PIP break. [C]
Hyan performed a falcon arrow on Persephone and went for the pin, but Baker wrapped the towel around her neck and choked her right in front of the referee. A short time later, Persephone pulled Hyan off the apron by putting her in the electric chair position. Persephone dropped Hyan face-first on the broadcast table.
In the ring, Baker superkicked Luna and drilled her with a ripcord elbow. Baker performed a neckbreaker and went for the pin, but Luna kicked out. Baker barked at the referee. Persephone grabbed a title belt and climbed onto the apron. Baker tried to run Luna toward Persephone, but she reversed it, and Persephone stopped short of hitting Baker with the title belt. Luna rolled up Baker for the three count.
Dani Luna and Hyan beat Persephone and Britt Baker in 10:30.
Afterward, Persephone attacked Luna. Hyan tried to help, but Persephone and Baker got the better of her. Queen Aminata ran out with a belt that she swung at Persephone, who fled the ring with Baker.
Excalibur announced Persephone vs. Queen Aminata vs. Dani Luna vs. Hyan in a four-way for the TBS Championship at WrestleDream. He hyped the final qualifying match for after a break… [C]
Powell’s POV: I’m not sure how pinning Baker to win her first match was enough to justify Luna getting a TBS Title match, but at least she went over. That said, I’m not crazy about Luna starting as a babyface. She had a ho-hum run in TNA as a babyface before really clicking as a heel.
What appeared to be an Ilja Dragunov vignette aired. He was not shown, but it showed the arms of a man acting like a conductor in what appeared to be Russia…
Powell’s POV: Dragunov is a really nice get for AEW. There are so many potential match-ups between him and AEW wrestlers that I look forward to seeing. I’m surprised they didn’t do this during the Dynamite portion of the show, but I’m guessing that it’s not a coincidence that the video was shown before Darby Allin’s match.
Entrances for the main event took place…
8. Darby Allin vs. CMLL World Champion Hechicero in a Clockwork Carnage qualifying match for the TNT Championship. A few minutes into the match, the wrestlers fought on the apron. Darby bit Hechicero’s hand and then punched him repeatedly. Darby removed the ring post cap, shoved Hechicero’s left arm into the post, and punched it repeatedly. Hechicero freed himself, pulled Darby off the ropes, and dumped him face-first on the apron before a PIP break. [C]
Powell’s POV: Normally, when I write that a wrestler was dumped face-first, it’s to explain that he/she was face down when they landed. In this case, Darby actually took the bump on his face.
The match continued while Excalibur ran through the WrestleDream lineup. He officially added Nick Wayne vs. Chris Jericho. Plus, he announced Julia Hart and Skye Blue vs. Megan Bayne and Lena Kross, and “The Motor City Machine Guns” Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin vs. “FTR” Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler in the first match of their best-of-five series for the one-hour pre-show that will be simulcast on TNT and HBO Max.
Darby used the ropes to pull himself up. Hechicero charged toward him, but Darby dropped down, and then Hechicero’s legs hit the ropes before he hit the mat. Moments later, Darby pulled Hechicero off the apron and into the ring skirting. Darby stomped Hechicero’s hand and freed him from the ring skirting before hitting him with a suicide dive.
Darby went up top and hit a Coffin Drop onto Hechicero, who was standing on the floor. Allin went up top and hit Hechicero with a Coffin Drop as he returned to the ring. Allin hit another Coffin Drop and then pinned him.
Darby Allin defeated CMLL World Champion Hechicero in 14:10 to retain the TNT Championship and qualify for Clockwork Carnage.
Afterward, Kazuchika Okada, Lance Archer, and Rocky Romero ran out and put the boots to Darby. Will Ospreay and Mike Bailey ran out to help. Okada put Ospreay down with a dropkick and then flipped off the crowd. Okada set up for a Rainmaker, but he released Ospreay when he heard entrance music.
Adam Copeland ran out and went face-to-face with Okada. They traded punches. Copeland put him down with a DDT. Ricochet showed up and leaped off the top rope before clotheslining Copeland. Bailey went after Ricochet, who got the better of him and hit him with a Spirit Gun.
Takeshita entered the ring and put Ricochet down with a Blue Thunder Bomb. Takeshita picked up the AEW World Championship and then placed it down when Samoa Joe’s entrance music played. Joe entered the ring and ended up turning Takeshita inside out with a clothesline. Ospreay returned to drop Joe with a Hidden Blade. Okada hoisted up Ospreay, who slipped away, only to be accidentally speared by Copeland. Okada put Copeland down with a Rainmaker.
Darby dropkicked Okada and then went up top and performed a Coffin Drop onto several wrestlers at ringside. Ospreay and Copeland traded punches on the floor. Security and referees tried to keep the eight wrestlers apart as the show concluded…
Powell’s POV: Yes, the expected outcome occurred, even though I continue to be surprised that CMLL doesn’t seem to mind having their world champion lose televised to AEW wrestlers. Overall, the show was filled with matches that had predictable outcomes. Granted, that happens on a lot of pro wrestling television shows, but I think the frustrating part is that they had so many matches and could have thrown fans a bone by going with at least one unpredictable qualifying match or set things up so they could have gone with one upset. On the bright side, they did an effective job of pushing the pay-per-view throughout the night.
I’ll have more to say during my weekly same-night audio review of Dynamite (and Collision this time) for Dot Net Members (including our Patreon patrons). Let me know what you thought of the three-hour block by grading it below.
Join me on Saturday for my live review of AEW WrestleDream.
