Johnny Valiant (Tommy Sullivan) died on Wednesday at age 71. WPXI-TV reports that Valiant was struck by a truck when he attempted to cross a street in Pennsylvania early Wednesday morning. Watch the news report at WPXI.com.

Powell’s POV: The news story reported that Valiant tried to cross the middle of the street rather than use a crosswalk. The station video does not name Valiant, but the accompanying story does list him by name. Valiant had a successful in-ring career, most notably as part of the Valiant Brothers tag team. He is best remembered by younger fans for his stint as a manager in the WWF during the early WrestleMania era. He also worked briefly as a manager for Hulk Hogan in the AWA prior to his WWF run. Valiant worked as a comedian and an actor after his days as a full-time manager in pro wrestling concluded. My condolences to his family and friends.
