Kevin Kelly leaves full-time position with ROH

Kevin Kelly gave up his full-time position with Ring of Honor. Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com reports that Kelly, who worked as a play-by-play voice and had other behind the scenes duties, has already completed his office duties after giving notice. [Thanks to Dot Net reader Jerome Wilen]

Powell’s POV: Kelly will continue to call the New Japan Pro Wrestling events. There is speculation that Kelly could continue to work for ROH as a freelancer, but it’s uncertain what his plans are at this point or whether the company is interested in that approach. ROH has been using Ian Riccaboni as a play-by-play voice for the Women of Honor shows, so he would seem to be a candidate to replace Kelly. The company also lost color commentators Steve Corino and Nigel McGuinness to WWE recently, so it’s possible that the company will be without all three regulars of their broadcast team the next time they tape television.

  1. I hope they don’t use Ian for the main show, i’ve heard his commentating and his is mediocre (at best).
