goldberg1Bill Goldberg appeared on the ESPNews “Off The Top Rope” segment on Wednesday and did not make an official announcement regarding a return to the ring for WWE. Goldberg was asked about the possibility of returning and said that he is an old man and he doesn’t know what the odds are. “It’s something I got to think about, man,” Goldberg said. He said his son and his wife have not seen him wrestle. He said he would like to be that guy again, but the risk is that he could lose his legacy. “I really want to do it, but reality-wise, is it smart for me to do?” he asked.

The speculation leading into the interview was that he would announce a match with Brock Lesnar at WWE Survivor Series. Goldberg said he owes Lesnar a rematch if he ever chooses to return to the ring. When asked how long it would take him to prepare himself for a return to the ring, he said he intends to speak with his family to decide what he wants to do. “If anybody can do it, it’s me,” he said. “I don’t know. Give me until the end of the year for God’s sake.”

Powell’s POV: Goldberg promoted the WWE video game and said he wanted his son to “experience in realtime his Dad being a superhero” as he was during his wrestling days. He was not even asked directly about returning to face Lesnar at Survivor Series, which is really sad for the interviewer given that it’s been a major topic of conversation. Goldberg said that he has yet to speak with Vince McMahon since he left the company. He added that he assumes he will one day soon.
