WWE Money in the Bank
New Orleans, Louisiana, at Smoothie King Center
Streamed live September 10, 2026, on ESPN Unlimited (and Netflix internationally)
Alix Paige stood in the ring while performing the national anthem at the end of the pre-show… Michael Cole checked in on commentary and narrated backstage/arrival shots of Becky Lynch, Liv Morgan, Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer, Oba Femi, Bronson Reed, Jacy Jayne, Lash Legend, Tiffany Stratton, Lola Vice, Roxanne Perez, Sol Ruca, Kevin Owens, and CM Punk… A Paul Levesque-narrated Money in the Bank video aired…
LA Knight made his entrance while Corey Graves checked in on commentary with Michael Cole. There was a long pause while several shots showed off the live crowd, and then Roman Reigns made his entrance…
Powell’s POV: The crowd is large and loud. WrestleTix listed the venue as being set up for 13,263, with 12,935 tickets distributed. The total number of seats on the map is 17,197. The last time WWE ran the venue, 9,837 tickets were distributed for the February 21, 2025, SmackDown.
1. Roman Reigns vs. LA Knight for the World Heavyweight Championship. Ring announcer Byron Saxton delivered in-ring introductions for the championship match. Eddie Orengo was the referee. The story of the start of the match was Knight being a step ahead of Reigns and frustrating the champion.
Reigns came back briefly, but Knight dodged a Superman Punch. Knight worked over Reigns with punches and then performed an inverted atomic drop. Knight clotheslined Reigns and followed up with a neckbreaker. Knight tossed Reigns over the top rope and then followed him to the floor.
Knight ran Reigns into the ring post and cleared the broadcast table. Reigns shot up and hit Knight before running him into the post. Back in the ring, Reigns worked over Knight while some fans chanted “OTC” briefly. Knight had a small cut on his forehead. Knight regained control, dropped an elbow on Reigns, and covered him for a two count.
Reigns caught a charging Knight with a Superman Punch and then covered him for a two count. Reigns complained about the referee’s count. Reigns went for a spear that Knight avoided, causing Reigns to crash into a corner of the ring. Knight got Reigns on the ropes and went for a superplex that Reigns stuffed with punches to the gut. Reigns knocked Knight off the ropes with a headbutt.
Knight jumped back onto the ropes and superplexed Reigns. Knight hoisted up Reigns and performed a Burning Hammer for a nearfall. Knight went for a BFT, but Reigns shoved him away. Knight came right back with a reverse DDT. Knight went to the middle rope, played to the crowd, and then hopped up top. Knight jumped, but he had to roll through because Reigns was back on his feet. Reigns put Knight down with a uranage slam for a nearfall. A “this is awesome” chant broke out.
Reigns jawed at Knight before kicking him to the floor. Reigns followed and set up for a powerbomb near the table, but Knight slipped away and ran him into the ring steps. Reigns stuffed a move and then traded punches with Knight. Both wrestlers rushed back to the ring to beat the referee’s count.
Reigns pie-faced Knight while both men were on their knees. Knight returned the favor. Reigns dropped Knight with a Superman Punch. Reigns went to a corner of the ring and let out a war cry. Reigns charged toward Knight, who put him down with a BFT and covered him for a close nearfall. Graves said no one had kicked out of the BFT before.
Knight went to a corner of the ring and mockingly let out a war cry of his own. Knight charged Reigns, who cut him down with a spear before covering him for a close nearfall. Reigns showed frustration. Reigns threw punches at Knight while calling out members of the Bloodline that each punch was dedicated to. Reigns ran the ropes, but Knight cut him off with a spear and covered him for a close nearfall.
Reigns went to the floor while another “this is awesome” chant broke out. In the ring, Knight led the fans in saying his name. Knight left the ring and ran toward Reigns, who cut him off with a spear. Reigns let out the war cry before charging Knight, who sidestepped him and shoved him through the barricade and into the timekeeper’s area.
Knight struggled to power up Reigns. Knight tried against and then powerbombed Reigns through the broadcast table. Knight tossed Reigns back inside the ring. Knight hit a top rope elbow drop on Reigns for a nearfall. Knight went for a BFT, but Reigns blocked it. Reigns picked up Knight and crotched him on the top rope. Reigns hit Knight with two Superman Punches and then speared Knight before pinning him.
Roman Reigns defeated LA Knight in 26:50 to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.
Afterward, “The 946” Royce Keys, Bronco Nima, and Lucien Price showed up in the crowd, which got Reigns’ attention. Solo Sikoa, Jimmy Uso, and Jey Uso showed up behind them. The teams quickly fought back into a concourse area where no fans were present.
The six wrestlers fought their way down to the main floor level, continued in another concourse area, and eventually out the front doors. They continued to fight in front of the venue until Jaida Parker showed up in a black SUV. Keys, Nima, and Price got in the SUV, and then Parker drove away…
Powell’s POV: A very good match. They did a great job of creating suspense with some excellent nearfalls. The key is that Knight looked so competitive with Reigns that he will gain something in defeat if they frame it properly on television. The post-match brawl was solid and served as a nice teaser for Monday’s 946 vs. Solo and the Usos match on Raw…
After several ads aired, Trick Williams and Lil Yachty were shown backstage. Bron Breakker was shown warming up in another part of the backstage area, and then Bronson Reed joined him…
Guitarist Nita Strauss, drummer Josh Villalta, and their son Max Villalta were shown in the crowd. Josh is a New Orleans native…
The women’s Money in the Bank ladder match entrances took place…
Powell’s POV: The women’s MITB ladder match happening now opens the door to the possibility of the winner attempting to cash in during the Women’s World Championship match.
2. Sol Ruca vs. Lola Vice vs. Jacy Jayne vs. Roxanne Perez vs. Lash Legend vs. Tiffany Stratton in a Money in the Bank ladder match. Ladders were set up around the ringside area. Cole noted that every women’s MITB winner has successfully cashed in to win a championship. Jayne built a ladder bridge by draping a ladder over the apron and the broadcast table.
The wrestlers all fought to ringside. Stratton climbed to the top of a tall ladder and performed a moonsault onto her opponents, but her head hit the back of the padded floor. Stratton immediately grabbed the back of her head. Graves chalked it up to her losing her footing at the last moment. Trainers checked on her.
Jayne set up a ladder in the ring. Stratton returned to the ring and tried to stop her, but Jayne used her legs to pull Stratton’s head into the ladder. Vice entered the ring and cut off Jayne. Vice threw kicks at Ruca and eventually had three opponents down in different corners. Vice hit them all with hip attacks.
A short time later, Perez had two opponents lying on top of a ladder that was leaning over the bottom rope. Perez performed a moonsault onto both wrestlers. Perez set up a ladder under the briefcase that was hanging above the ring. Perez climbed the ladder, but Stratton returned to pull her off into an Alabama Slam.
Stratton climbed the ladder, but Ruca springboarded her way onto the other side of it. Stratton and Ruca fought near the top of the ladder. Jayne returned to the ring and pushed the ladder over. Ruca held onto the briefcase while Stratton fell near the ropes and landed on her feet. A few opponents gathered under Ruca, who let go of the briefcase and landed on them. A brief “this is awesome” chant broke out.
Moments later, Legend slammed a couple of opponents onto a ladder that was bridged over the middle rope and the main ladder. Legend made a play for the briefcase, but Ruca cut her off. Vice superkicked Legend, who fell onto the ladder bridged over the apron and the broadcast table. Ruca went up top and performed a frog splash onto Legend, which broke the ladder.
Jayne made a play for the briefcase, but Vice climbed up behind her and applied a submission hold. They both fell backwards onto another ladder that was bridged over the main ladder and the middle rope. Perez entered the ring alone, and there were some cheers, but Stratton joined her, and they traded strikes.
Perez put Stratton down with Pop Rox. Perez climbed the ladder quickly, but Ruca stopped her and sent her back to the ring. Ruca performed a Sol Snatcher on Perez from the ladder. Legend put Ruca down. Legend climbed the ladder, but Stratton climbed up the other side and traded punches with Legend. Stratton battered Legend with the briefcase to knock her off the ladder. Stratton pulled down the briefcase to win the match…
Tiffany Stratton defeated Sol Ruca, Lola Vice, Jacy Jayne, Roxanne Perez, and Lash Legend in 15:20 to win the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match.
Powell’s POV: I guess we’ll never know for sure if Stratton would have pulled from the match after that early rough landing, had she not been booked to win. I was surprised that they didn’t pull her because her head hit so hard, but she seemed okay as the match went on. Stratton wasn’t the most popular choice to win in the building. Even though the fans cheered for Perez over Stratton when they traded strikes at one point, they were respectful during Stratton’s post-match celebration. The wrestlers worked hard, and there were some big ladder bumps, so hopefully they all come out of this with nothing more serious than some bumps and bruises.
Oba Femi was shown walking backstage while Cole said he would face Bronson Reed next…
Bronson Reed made his entrance after several ads. Oba Femi’s entrance followed, and the fans chanted his name…
3. Oba Femi vs. Bronson Reed. Oba was listed as being four inches and 40 pounds heavier than Reed. Paul Heyman was shown watching the match on a television backstage. Oba performed an early release vertical suplex. Reed rolled to the floor to regroup.
The wrestlers ended up fighting on the apron. Reed picked up Oba and dumped him on the apron. Cole pointed out that Oba’s spine hit the apron, but his arm also got caught in the ropes (the replay showed that Oba’s arm hit the top rope, causing him to land a little more sideways than he probably planned). Reed performed a suicide dive. Back in the ring, Reed covered Oba for a two count.
A short time later, Reed put Oba down with a DDT. Reed went up top and attempted a Tsunami that Oba avoided. Oba got to his feet and then hit Reed with running uppercuts in a corner of the ring. Oba went for another, but Reed followed and tried to splash him, but Oba caught him. They fought for position, and Oba eventually put him down with a spinebuster that led to a near fall.
Austin Theory and Maxxine Dupri showed up and distracted Oba. Logan Paul ran out with a chair and tried to enter on the other side of the ring, but the referee caught him and ejected him. Theory slipped a pair of brass knuckles to Reed, who hit Oba with them twice while the referee was distracted. Reed passed the brass knuckles to Theory and then hit Oba with a Tsunami, but Oba kicked out of the pin that followed. Cole said he didn’t believe anyone had kicked out of the Tsunami.
Reed hoisted up Oba and put him down with a Death Valley Driver. Reed went up top and attempted a moonsault, but Oba rolled out of the way. Oba hit Reed with a running uppercut. Theory climbed onto the apron. Oba grabbed Theory and chokeslammed him onto the apron. Oba hit the Fall From Grace on Reed before pinning him.
Oba Femi defeated Bronson Reed in 11:40.
Paul Heyman was shown smiling and nodding as he watched the match backstage. Oba celebrated his win while Cole once again labeled Oba as “The Next Big Thing”…
Powell’s POV: A solid match with the expected outcome. Oba took two brass knuckles punches and a Tsunami. It created suspense for that nearfall, but it set the bar really high for what it will take for someone to beat Oba.
Cole said they had a special visit from a horror icon. An ad aired for the Hellraiser video game featuring the Pinhead character…
Powell’s POV: I can’t be the only one who thought the horror icon was going to be Jacob Goodnight, minus the three-foot penis that Vince McMahon wanted him to have? Yes, that was a legitimate Vince McMahon pitch, per the movie’s writer and former WWE creative team member Dan Madigan.
After some ads, entrances for the Women’s World Championship match took place. Becky Lynch was out first, followed by Liv Morgan, and then Stephanie Vaquer. The fans cheered Lynch and Vaquer, and were very quiet during Morgan’s entrance…
4. Stephanie Vaquer vs. Becky Lynch and Liv Morgan in a Triple Threat for the Women’s World Championship. Byron Saxton delivered in-ring introductions for the title match. Jessika Carr was the referee. Several minutes into the match, Morgan went to the ropes next to Lynch and Vaquer, who were fighting for position. Lynch shoved Morgan to the mat. Morgan got up and held her head, but then awkwardly rolled twice until she was in the perfect position, and then Vaquer slammed Lynch onto her.
Moments later, all three women fought on the floor next to a sponsored table. Lynch and Morgan returned to the ring. Lynch put Morgan down. Vaquer got back in the ring and charged toward the corner. Lynch moved, and then Vaquer hit Morgan with double knees. Vaquer got a two count on Morgan a short time later.
Lynch went up top and was cut off by Vaquer. Lynch threw punches at Vaquer, who ended up facing down in the corner. Morgan pressed off the back of Vaquer to pull Lynch off the ropes. Morgan went for a half crab, but Vaquer rolled her into the same hold. Lynch returned and simultaneously applied the Disarmer on Morgan. Vaquer and Lynch argued, and then Vaquer headbutted her. They let go of Morgan and traded more headbutts.
Lynch hit the Mandhandle Slam on Morgan and had her pinned until Vaquer broke it up. All three wrestlers ended up on the floor. Vaquer performed a Meteora on Lynch, who was seated in front of the ring steps. Vaquer got Morgan back inside the ring and performed a top rope move on her. Vaquer had Morgan beat, but Lynch pulled the referee out of the ring. Vaquer rolled to the floor and fought with Lynch.
Back in the ring, Vaquer and Lynch fought while the fans chanted for tables (well, at least they’re making some noise during his match). Vaquer sent Lynch over the top rope to the apron and then headbutted her several times. Vaquer superkicked Lynch, who fell off the apron and crashed on top of the table. The leg of the table bent, but it did not break. In the ring, Morgan hit Oblivion on Vaquer and then pinned her.
Liv Morgan defeated Stephanie Vaquer and Becky Lynch in a Triple Threat in 16:55 to win the Women’s World Championship.
Cole said Morgan was a four-time world champion. Morgan held up her title belt while standing on the stage as pyro shot off behind her…
Powell’s POV: Meh. The crowd was hot for the first three matches, but they clearly weren’t as invested in this one. I thought we would only see Morgan win this match if Roxanne Perez won the women’s MITB ladder match. I hope Morgan will drop the “greatest women’s world champion of allllllllll-time” mic work this time around because it made her feel like an obnoxious pest heel rather than a serious heel wrestler.
The broadcast team spoke at their desk. Cole welcomed viewers from Japan who were watching their first PLE on Netflix… Highlights from the show aired with commentary from several international broadcast teams…
Kevin Owens was shown warming up backstage. A separate shot aired of CM Punk warming up. Cole said the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match was up next…
After a batch of ads, Corey Graves hyped the MITB post-show, including an interview with Roman Reigns…
Cole hyped Agent of Shadows on ReelShort premiering on October 23. The cast includes Drew McIntyre in a supporting role. The leading man was shown in the crowd…
CM Punk made his entrance for the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match. He was censored for apparently adding a word or two to his “clobberin’ time” line. Graves pointed out that Punk had “Chadball” on his ring jacket, which is a tribute to the late Chad Gilbert of the band New Found Glory. Bron Breakker made the next entrance. Trick Williams was out next with Lil Yachty. Je’Von Evans came out next and stopped to check out the MITB Brink’s truck on the stage. Kevin Owens made his entrance while staring straight ahead as he walked to the ring. Once in the ring, Owens kicked the ropes in front of Punk, who was standing on the floor. Penta made the final entrance. Cole said Penta might be the hottest superstar today. Penta got his usual pyro once he was in the ring. Cole said Penta has captured the imagination of fans everywhere, young and old…
5. Bron Breakker vs. Je’Von Evans vs. Trick Williams (w/Lil Yachty) vs. Penta vs. CM Punk vs. Kevin Owens in a Money in the Bank ladder match. Penta tried to do his Cero Miedo hand gesture while standing in the middle of the ring, but Breakker hit him to start the match. Punk and Owens fought once everyone else was cleared from the ring, but Breakker cut them off quickly.
Breakker and Punk ended up alone in the ring a short time later. Breakker leaned a tall ladder in a corner of the ring. He went to the other corner and got in Punk’s face. “Remember me?” Breakker asked before whipping Punk into the ladder. Penta returned to the ring and limped. The broadcast team wondered if the limp was caused by Penta’s knee striking Punk’s head during a top con hilo a bit earlier.
Penta seemed fine as he got the better of a couple of opponents. Penta set up Punk for a Penta Driver, but Breakker got behind Penta and performed a double German Suplex on Penta and Punk. Fans barked. Breakker set up a ladder and wanted to make a play for the briefcase that was hanging above the ring, but Punk cut him off. Evans returned and made a quick climb up the ladder until Owens stopped him.
Punk climbed the ladder, but Owens also cut him off while targeting one of Punk’s knees. Breakker cleared everyone from the ring. Trick returned and climbed the ladder, but Breakker pulled him down. Breakker also stopped Penta from climbing the ladder. Breakker pulled Penta off the ladder and pulled him onto his knee. Owens pulled Breakker to the floor. Breakker ran Owens into the ring post.
Breakker ran across the barricade and nearly stumbled a couple of times before he hit his intended move. Breakker stood on the broadcast table and gloated until Owens pulled him down. Punk ran over and traded punches with Owens. Punk dropped Owens with a kick. Penta went after Punk, who ended up tossing Penta into the timekeeper’s area. Trick sent Penta into the timekeeper’s area. Evans sent Trick into the timekeeper’s area.
Evans ran around the ring to apparently dive onto the wrestlers in the timekeeper’s area, but Breakker got a running start and speared him. Punk returned to the ring and climbed the ladder. Breakker pulled Punk down. Breakker climbed the ladder. Punk went up behind Breakker and performed a clunky side Russian Leg Sweep from the ladder to the ring.
EMTs were shown preparing to put Evans on a stretcher. In the ring, Penta had Punk tied upside down while hanging by a leg from the main ladder when he threw a couple of kicks at him. Trick cut off Penta. Evans was stretchered out and had a towel over his arm and chest.
Owens took advantage of Punk hanging upside down by climbing the ladder and then stepping on Punk’s balls. Punk was freed from the ladder. Punk threw punches at Owens, who ended up dumping Punk onto a ladder that was leaning against the bottom rope. Trick punched Owens and then set up the ladder that Punk landed on. Trick made a play for the belt, but Penta pulled him down and superkicked him.
They cut backstage where the EMTs were moving Evans into an ambulance while Raw General Manager Adam Pearce and SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis stood by.
Back in the ring, Penta put Punk down with a Penta Driver. Breakker stopped Penta from climbing the ladder. Breakker pressed Penta over his head and then dropped Penta onto his knees. Yachty entered the ring and distracted Breakker. Trick took advantage of the distraction until Owens took him out. Yachty started to climb the ladder, but he gave that up once Owens was staring him down. Yachty dropped down and ate a kick and a Stunner from Owens.
Punk and Owens ended up fighting near the top of the ladder. Punk got the better of it and was alone on the ladder for a moment, but Penta pulled him down. Penta did his Cero Miedo bit until Punk cut him off and hit him with a GTS. Punk climbed the ladder. Owens followed and jabbed his thumb into Punk’s eye. Punk fell to the mat, but he got up and pulled Owens down. Punk set up Owens for a GTS, but Breakker speared him. Owens got up and ate a spear from Breakker.
Penta pulled Breakker to the floor and threw kicks at him. Penta played to the crowd and then ran into a spear. Breakker ran around the ring and speared Penta. Breakker ran around the ring and speared Punk and Owens through the barricade in front of the timekeeper’s area.
The ambulance returned to the stage and drove to ringside, where it was parked in front of the ring. Breakker tried to open the door, but Evans hit him with it. Evans told Breakker that he was going to beat his ass. Evans worked over Breakker with punches. Evans clutched his ribs for a moment before climbing on the apron. Evans hit a springboard move on Penta.
Trick went after Evans, who got the better of him and then superkicked Penta. Evans performed a tornado kick on Trick and threw another superkick at Penta. Evans put Trick down with another kick. Evans dumped Penta over the top rope to the apron and then hit Trick with the OG Cutter. Trick ended up on the floor.
Evans was alone in the ring. Evans cleared one ladder from the ring and then moved another so that it was under the bottom rope. Evans set up a massive ladder while Breakker crawled back inside the ring. Evans positioned the ladder, which nearly touched the bottom of the briefcase. Evans climbed the ladder. Breakker pulled Evans onto his shoulders and performed a lungblower.
Breakker moved the ladder closer to the ropes and then looked into the hard camera while lowering the straps of his singlet. Breakker ran under the ladder while running the ropes, but Evans kicked him. Evans climbed the giant ladder. Breakker got up and pushed the ladder over, which sent Evans crashing through the roof of the ambulance (I guess they don’t make ambulance roofs like they used to).
Breakker sat in a corner of the ring and smiled. Breakker set up the giant ladder and started to climb. Penta returned to the ring, pulled him down, and superkicked him. Penta created a ladder bridge by wedging a ladder between the giant ladder’s rungs while placing the other side in a corner of the ring.
Breakker joined Penta on the giant ladder, where they fought. Penta got the better of it and performed a Mexican Destroyer that sent him and Breakker crashing onto the ladder. Penta sold for a moment and then got up, climbed the ladder, and pulled down the briefcase to win the match.
Penta defeated Bron Breakker, Je’Von Evans, Trick Williams, CM Punk, and Kevin Owens in 32:05 to win the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match.
Penta celebrated his win. Graves expressed concern for Evans following the ambulance bump. Pyro shot off on the stage while Penta celebrated his win while setting on top of the ladder while holding up the briefcase. The executive producer credits were shown while Cole hyped the post-show being available exclusively on the ESPN app…
Powell’s POV: The men’s MITB ladder match was a mixed bag. The wrestlers worked hard, but the match felt overbooked with the ambulance, including the big stunt of Evans taking a bump through a clearly gimmicked top. Penta drove me nuts by playing to the crowd and having it backfire several times, but most of that will be erased by him winning the match.
Overall, it was an entertaining show that lasted roughly three hours and 15 minutes. The ladder matches delivered the usual craziness, Oba stayed mega over, and the Reigns vs. Knight match seemed to exceed most expectations. I will have a lot more to say about the show when I team up with Jake Barnett for our same-night audio review of Money in the Bank for Dot Net Members (including our Patreon patrons). Let us know what you thought of the show by voting for the bet match grading the overall show below.
