WWE issued the following press release to tout being voted Best Sporting Event in the SSE Live Awards.

WWE Live has been voted Best Sporting Event in the SSE Live Awards alongside other category winners including Jess Glynne (Best Solo Artist), The Script (Best Group) and conductor Andre Rieu (Best Live Entertainment).

Fans voted for their favorite live entertainment performances of 2018 at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland. WWE Live beat the local favorite, Scottish boxer Josh Taylor and his World Boxing Super Series match vs. Ryan Martin.

Other shows at the SSE Hydro last year included Paul McCartney, Britney Spears, Disney on Ice, Paul Simon and Harry Styles.

WWE Executive Vice President, Talent, Live Events and Creative Paul Levesque – better known as Triple H – said: “We are thrilled to accept the 2018 SSE Live Award for Best Sporting Event.

“Our mission is to put smiles on faces and give every fan attending WWE Live a unique, action-packed, sports-entertainment experience.

“It is truly an honor to be recognized by the fans, and we look forward to seeing them again in 2019.”

Powell’s POV: Congrats to WWE on the award. That said, if it came down to a Paul McCartney concert or a WWE live event… no comment.
