NXT UK Hits

Rhea Ripley vs. Xia Brookside: A perfect match to demonstrate that Ripley will be the “unstoppable” monster of the division with Xia selling for Ripley like a demon. Rhea has been impressive during her Mae Young Classic outings, but I think she will thrive in a division where she will be showcased.

Ligero vs. Jordan Devlin: The best match of the two shows and would be an eye opener for anybody who hasn’t seen much of either guy. It wasn’t a classic by any means and hasn’t even been the best match of the NXT UK run, but it was a very entertaining showcase. Jordan’s after show rant about how he’s coming for Pete Dunne sets him as the next challenger for the WWE UK Championship and shows how important every match is, as it could lead to a title shot.

Mark Andrews vs. “Wild Boar” Mike Hitchman: A good match from the Welsh duo despite a nasty looking spot about halfway through. The spot surprised me as these guys, along with Flash Morgan Webster, grew as performers together in Dragon Pro, so they have probably wrestled each other hundreds of times. Nevertheless, a positional boast for Andrews, who has been losing more than winning recently.

NXT UK Misses

Toni Storm vs. Isla Dawn: Something just felt a bit off about this match in terms of the way it was laid out. Essentially, Dawn dominated the entire match until Toni hit a Storm Zero and that was it. It made Toni look weak for not being able to stop the offence of her opponent and looked somewhat lucky by hitting her finisher out of nowhere. It also made Isla look weak that she had so much offence but couldn’t put her opponent away. A disappointing match.

Eddie Dennis: I don’t understand exactly what they are going for. He comes across as calm, eloquent and intelligent in the fantastic vignettes and backstage promos, but in the ring his persona is very Broken Matt Hardy crazy-like. I still can’t get behind his “Diesel” big man like in ring style they are making him do and when you combine that with a confusing character, I’m really not understanding what they are doing with the man from Swansea.
