The following is a spoiler from the NXT TV tapings that took place on Wednesday in Winter Park, Florida at Full Sail University.

Former Ring of Honor Champion Kyle O’Reilly made his NXT debut at Wednesday’s television taping. He was defeated in his first NXT match by Aleister Black.

Powell’s POV: Finally. O’Reilly dropped the ROH Title to Adam Cole at New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Wrestle Kingdom 11 event in January. The assumption was that he was NXT bound, but there was a lengthy gap between his final ROH related match and his NXT debut. There were widespread rumors that O’Reilly’s NXT debut was held up by WWE as their response to an ROH legal letter in regards to tampering with contracted talent. I interviewed ROH COO Joe Koff last month and denied those rumors. It’s worth noting that O’Reilly’s longtime tag partner Bobby Fish debuted at the June 23 NXT TV taping and also lost his first match to Black.
